Sounds like a player like Mane would be perfect for the diamond point ! Personally I think we lose a lot of Tadic's ability when he's stuck in the middle.

Can anyone comment on the pressing of the oppo's full backs....who is doing this? From what I've read, it seems to be the strikers who press the full backs which leaves us in almost a 4-6-0 formation when we don't have the ball? Also, when we win the ball back, do we turn straight back into the diamond with the two back up top, or are they playing really far apart? I would assume, that for this to work, we need the three most forward players to be very close together or we'll just become isolated and picked off.

Seen similar comments from various people, does seem a strange system to play. Will wait and see before i criticise but I'm not convinced from what I have seen (very little!) Goals and creativity seem to be the main worry.

He'll be on way more than that, probably closer to £80k I would imagine. Would have thought he would have been on £30k/40k at Saints.

Be interesting to see if we have a poor few games at the start of the season, whether we will revert back to 4-3-3. Seems a big ask to get a new manager to come in, lost a few of our best players, change formation, and still be successful....

Feel that the club should have picked a manager to fit the clubs philosophy, 4-3-3... Above formation would work fine and mean the players aren't trying to learn a new system. I don't think the diamond works in the Prem.....we shall see.

Think so, so if we're seeded fourth, then we'll have three teams with a higher coefficient than us (better teams). If we're seeded third, then we could get a crap team in our group...basically.

We would, but then we would have been forced to buy English than buy squad players from abroad (Juanmi, Martina etc) Would only push the price of very average English players up though...you'd get to the point where Redmond would be a £30m player cos he's played in the prem a few times...

Guessing Redmond either plays at the tip or up front in this formation then....same as Tadic. Seems a few people were impressed with Hojbjerg yesterday who played at the base of the diamond. Not sure we have enough options to play two up top, I'd say if we're going to play 2 up top then we need another forward brought in. Relies very heavily on the full backs getting forward.
