Thanks for that. He's such a top player and comes across as a very genuine nice bloke - like the majority of our players to be honest. I think our transfer committee look at this when they are looking for potential transfers, probably why some transfers have fallen through late. It's great to see how much trust he has in the chairman as well. Big things happening at our club, and its great to see. Morgan for France.

Seager and Gape sign long-term pro deals
Saint Garrett replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Don't think a 'pro contract' is the same as what Shaw will sign? Not sure though, MLG ? Odd how the club hasn't announced this since it was first reported 2 months ago. -
Would have taken it, but have got one in block 20 now. Cheers though. Shame that.

Not just this thread though. You were the first one calling for him to be dropped. -
Yeah, I watched the teaser earlier. What else is said? I got rid of my SaintsPlayer membership this season as there is so much content everywhere else!

Schneiderlin + Lambert make Sky Sports Opta "PFA Alternative XI"
Saint Garrett replied to Dan83's topic in The Saints
Lambert is something like our 10th highest scorer in our history. He's been iconic in our rise through the leagues. Don't see how any Saints fan can not absolutely love the bloke. -

Pochettino targets Champions League spot next season
Saint Garrett replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
But the 75m isn't net spend is it. Their net spend must be much much less. Fair play to them, they're a decent 'proper' club. I certainly wouldn't be complaining about finishing in the top 8 every season. If anything it's shown how difficult breaking into the 'top 4' as it was. But not so long ago Liverpool were better and more successful that them, but they've been consistent with some very good buys - fair play to them. -

Saint Garrett replied to Dan83's topic in The Saints
Wow. How ridiculous. Nearly as ridiculous as Mcmanamans tackle being a clearance and nothing in it. Jesus christ. Lambert is probably our best ever signing, has an unbelievable goal record, and has brought us through the leagues. i would go as far as saying we wouldnt be here without him. -

Tbf, he's been top 8 for the last 10 years, apart from 2 seasons. Thats pretty decent mate. -

The9, why do you hate Lambert so much? The guy is a Southampton legend and deserves to get a mention, being the top English goal scorer. I'm sure Lambert's shot/goal ratio must be much better than Benteke as Benteke has about 50 shots a game. -

I think it's more that they sold players who weren't even that good for a lot of money - Rodwell, Lescott. Tbf, you look at their key players, Baines/Jagielka/Fellaini/Jelavic (yes I know Fellaini cost a fortune!), and they didn't cost a lot altogether for how good they are. Baines is a great example of a young player growing to be a top top player. There is no reason why some of our boys cant do that. -
Couldn't stand that kit. Probably the least favourite in my lifetime. That article is pretty ghey though.

Nice...I want one of these. They're beautiful.

Thats his Dads I think. Lallana drives a 4x4 I'm pretty sure.

I wouldn't be surprised if we spend another £30m net. -
Pochettino targets Champions League spot next season
Saint Garrett replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Who knows. All depends on keeping our important players, (Shaw, Clyne, Cork, Morgan, J-Rod, Gaston) and them progressing as they're expected to. It's no coincidence that all these players have been mooted for international calls this year if not already. You could argue that we have the base of the 2016 Euro team, but then if they don't progress then they won't be close to it. Add to this the players who we bring in. If you include Boruc in that, who is a top keeper, and Lambert keeps being affective, and Lallana improves then why not. Obviously our team right now isn't good enough, but who knows in the future. The other big question is how much money do we have? If the club has got this 'pot of gold' left for them, then we could really push on. It's not unrealistic that we can compete towards the top of the division, just like any club, but there are a lot of variables that need to go our way for it to happen. Time will tell, I am just enjoying being a Saints fan at the moment and who can blame me? -
Pochettino targets Champions League spot next season
Saint Garrett replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I do agree, as I've had a few mates saying it's embarrassing for us to be targeting that. Still I don't have a problem with it. And regardless, I think this has been taken out of context anyway. It's not like Poche came out and said "We're aiming for Champions League". He just said why not, why not aim high, don't rule it out etc. -
Pochettino targets Champions League spot next season
Saint Garrett replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Of course not. But surely the club has to aim to do as well as possible. Same philosophy as Pochettino saying that he wants to win the last 4 games. Chances are we won't win them, nothing wrong with aiming to win them though. -

This. Some people seem to enjoy arguing for the sake of it. Chances are we're not going to get into the Champions League or even Europe next season. If we somehow do manage it, then great. Nothing wrong at all with ambition. Would some people rather the manager come out and say we'll aim to stay in the league? -
Agree, but he will get better - does need to play games though. I thought he'd play more for Arsenal than he has done.
-
Forren, but the other way round then !

I do think it's a player that we could improve though. Despite him probably not getting in the team, he offers an alternative to what we have and he's an exciting young player. I wouldn't be adverse to us signing him for the right price.
