  1. Who knows. All depends on keeping our important players, (Shaw, Clyne, Cork, Morgan, J-Rod, Gaston) and them progressing as they're expected to. It's no coincidence that all these players have been mooted for international calls this year if not already. You could argue that we have the base of the 2016 Euro team, but then if they don't progress then they won't be close to it. Add to this the players who we bring in. If you include Boruc in that, who is a top keeper, and Lambert keeps being affective, and Lallana improves then why not. Obviously our team right now isn't good enough, but who knows in the future. The other big question is how much money do we have? If the club has got this 'pot of gold' left for them, then we could really push on. It's not unrealistic that we can compete towards the top of the division, just like any club, but there are a lot of variables that need to go our way for it to happen. Time will tell, I am just enjoying being a Saints fan at the moment and who can blame me?
  2. I do agree, as I've had a few mates saying it's embarrassing for us to be targeting that. Still I don't have a problem with it. And regardless, I think this has been taken out of context anyway. It's not like Poche came out and said "We're aiming for Champions League". He just said why not, why not aim high, don't rule it out etc.
  3. Of course not. But surely the club has to aim to do as well as possible. Same philosophy as Pochettino saying that he wants to win the last 4 games. Chances are we won't win them, nothing wrong with aiming to win them though.
  4. This. Some people seem to enjoy arguing for the sake of it. Chances are we're not going to get into the Champions League or even Europe next season. If we somehow do manage it, then great. Nothing wrong at all with ambition. Would some people rather the manager come out and say we'll aim to stay in the league?
  5. Agree, but he will get better - does need to play games though. I thought he'd play more for Arsenal than he has done.
  6. Forren, but the other way round then !
  7. I do think it's a player that we could improve though. Despite him probably not getting in the team, he offers an alternative to what we have and he's an exciting young player. I wouldn't be adverse to us signing him for the right price.

  10. Not the first time I've heard this. However it's not like he has to keep his body in tip top condition !
  11. Thing is though it is harsh compared to the bans dealt out to others. But I do think it's about right and he can have no arguments. Personally think the system needs looking at especially this whole "ref saw it so I can't do anything". Undermining refs, then they get dropped to l1 for a few weeks.
  12. Good, he's a decent player is Brunt. With Mulumbu missing as well they're looking a bit short in midfield so lets hope our boys can pull them out of position with their movement. I'm expecting us to win.
  13. Think a lot of it depends on how our players progress. We could have some "top 6" players in Boruc, Clyne, Shaw, Morgan, Cork, Gaston, Lallana and J-Rod. And the ever so consistent Lambert. If these younger lads keep pushing on and stay with us, then we've got the basis of a hugely talented squad who will be pushing for World Cup spots next year.
  14. I have no problem with the club aiming as high as possible...but it's going to be bloody difficult. As long as we keep playing good football, and we can see more progress I'll be happy. I'll happily take 12th and a cup run or 2!
  15. Ah it was indeed! http://www.11v11.com/matches/norwich-city-v-southampton-28-april-2007-277713/ Not a bad team we had out that day! So was this the first game after he died ?
  16. Hugely optimistic, unlikely. But never know, aim high and all that....
  17. One club man my arse!
  18. Listening to the radio I heard he will earn something like £3m before he plays again, disgraceful really.
  19. Thought Barton got 12 game ban? Correct...http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/23/joey-barton-12-game-ban-fa
  20. Didn't we play at Norwich that day? I seem to remember being there and singing Alan Ball songs in the pubs and in the ground.

  22. @SouthamptonFC: Mauricio Pochettino: "It's important for us to finish the season well. We have to get the maximum points from the games left." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "That starts with Saturday's game against @WBAFCofficial, who are a tough opponent." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "This game is vital, but all games are vital because winning means you will climb positions in the table." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "There's four games left, and we want maximum points from all four. If we do that, we'll all be happy." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: Pochettino says Morgan Schneiderlin had a knock at the start of the week but he now looks to be over that. #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: James Ward-Prowse picked up an injury while playing for the Under-21s on Sunday and looks unlikely to be available this weekend. #saintsfc
