Still not effective enough to play as one of the DM's though is he. I mean he is a cracking talent, but he's still got a lot of learning to do if he is going to play in one of those 2 positions. He's more attacking and likes to go chasing after the ball. No surprise our season turned around as soon as we had Morgan and Cork back together.
-
Oh, I watch us play, and also realise we are still in a relegation fight, albeit I expect us to stay up. Morgan has 1 year premiership experience and he's a world class player ? You need to try some objectivity when watching players from other teams that you believe are overrated.. which is anyone playing for another team the way you go on. I think Morgan is absolutely class. I love watching him play and think he is one of the best midfielders at what he does in the league. Yes I'm probably bias, but thats only because I watch us week in week out.

McCartney is absolutely dreadful, Id put him in a 'worse than box' bracket...

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
Saint Garrett replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
I see no reason why we can't push on next season as long as we keep this squad together, and add a few quality additions. Spurs is a good model to follow IMO. A few years ago they were a team who finished bottom of the tophalf on a regular basis. Yes obviously they're a bigger club than us, but they have a good model to follow. -
Hahahaaa!!! Very much coming from someone who clearly didn't watch the two teams last season then ! Even West Ham fans would probably agree they grinded out promotion and we were very much the 'class' team. I do very much agree with Pilchards. First goal will decide it, we can't give them something to hold on to. We get an early first goal and it could be a rout, but if not, they could easily nick a goal or two.

Isn't this why Man Utd have just had a huge training ground sponsorship deal? And Man City got their stadium sponsorship from Etihad ?
-
Sometimes I do wonder if our fans watch us play...Morgan IMO wouldn't look out of place in any team in the world.

Jaaskeleinen isn't great though, he has had some good games. Good shot stopper but thats about it. It could be argued that West Ham were better than us at the start of the season, but we have no surpassed them as our players have got to grips with this league and players have got fit. Saturday will give us a good idea from that, but I'd say we're now better than them, and play much more positive football. However at the start of the season we we're playing 'positive football' without really doing anything with the ball, and at times it was more 'gung ho' than positive and we put ourselves into the sh!t. Our back four is now pretty much settled, Clyne has improved considerably as the season has gone on, as has Yoshi. Cork is now fit who was so important to our promotion season last year, and has been incredibly important this season since he's come in. It's also boosted Morgans performances as well IMO. JRod is now causing problems to some of the best defences in the country, and Lallana has actually learned how to give the full back some cover. Surely you cannot realistically think they are so much better than us ?
-
Why? We don't need to sell, he's been with the club 5 years and given him tons of experience, just signed a new contract, statistically the best DM in the world, is our best player, and surely on the verge of a France call up. Add to that players like Henderson went for 20m, Allen 15m, I see no reason why we'd entertain any bids of under 20m.
-
Had a good start yes, difficult to break down, play negative football will get you draws. 'Percentage football' will get you a few goals. Wouldn't call him a good manager or their players good though. Many poor teams in the division this year....and anyway I said our players are better like for like. Doesn't make them more effective against some oppositions....!!! This forum is far better now you're not on here as much anymore!

Fair play for having a go, but don't give up the day job just yet
-
Lol Nolan. He's abysmal. Even WHU fans don't rate him.
-
Says who ?! And my point is that we have been after some players for a while then finally get them. J-Rod, Clyne, Sharp, Hooper, we have all been after for ages.
-
Be interesting to see if we go in for names we've been linked with previously. We courted JRod for a year or so before we signed him, same with Sharp, along with a couple of others. Astori is the only name which stands out....Matt Phillips? Here is who we were linked with in January... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?41776-Who-we-ve-been-linked-with-for-January-thread Federik Sorensen? Zarate? Verdu? Biglia ?
-
We are though? The only player that could get in our side would be maybe Tomkins or Reid...possibly Jarvis but personally think Lallana and Puncheon are both better.
-
This, plus their arrogance is tuned down a bit due to them not being favourites for this game. They know we've been playing really well and deep down I would expect a lot of them are expecting a loss as we're far superior to them man for man.
-
Personally think Morgan is better now than Carrick has ever been.
-
Thinking probably 90degrees, Orange Rooms, or Buddha Lounge...
-
Certainly was a quality goal.
-
I would say Morgans 'value' is about £15m, but I don't think we'd sell for quite a bit more than that. Bidding starts at £20m...
-
I hope we win from a pen from a Lallana dive
-
JWP plays in the '3' though, he looked OK in his apps in CM before Cork was fit, but not quite good enough yet to play CM in a prem side IMO. Flamini would be decent backup on a sensible wage, but he's not an improvement on what we have.
-
It won't effect his ability to fall over everytime the ball goes near him anyway.
-
Morgan probably doesn't count as 'young'.
