I don't agree, as supposedly we have been looking at him all summer, but only made the move once we knew they were out of the CL. Everyone seemed to be well aware it was close last night, and there would be no benefit to Adam Blackmore reporting that it was close for it to fall apart last night. Even when he was talking after the game last night, he seemed to not be aware. My gut feeling is that PSV stopped the deal to Saints because Leeds came in with a bigger offer, and he didnt want to go to Leeds. Now he's "decided to stay" but PSV still need the money, and obviously last night Chelsea supposedly bid £50m for Sangare. If that doesn't happen I do wonder if there is a tiny chance Gakpo deal is still live.

I do wonder if there is stil la small chance of this happening. Reports of them needing the money. If Chelsea sign the midfielder from Ajax, they won't be signing Sangare, Leeds are signing some other striker (Bamba Dieng), that PSV might still buckle late on.... I can only hope.

Of course in an ideal world we'd move them all on, but don't think it would be the end of the world if we cannot get anyone else in, that Redmond and Walcott are still here. Walcott is going next summer anyway, and Redmond is a decent squad player. Of course in the ideal world, both will go and we bring in a replacement who will be starting for us.

Think Djenepo now seen as a full back, and Redmond and Walcott will be leaving today I think.

Naive to think it’s not normal. It just goes agent to agent rather than direct to player. It sounds like it was all agreed, he wanted to come, he’d agreed personal terms and we’d met the asking price, but then PSV pulled the plug.

I did wonder why even when the news came out last night about us agreeing a fee, Leeds we’re still favourites to sign him with the bookies. Now I know how the odds work, but for ppl putting money on Leeds desire barely being linked, would be strange. Let’s see how this plays out. Would be gutting to lose him from here.
