Ive got the 1997-99 Home Shirt, which I got signed by a lot of the players at a London Saints party that they attended an hour or so after the end of the dellhurst park match. It's got Tiss's, Egil's, Frannie's, Dodds and many more on it. Wonder how much that is worth now?

Fantastic performance from all of the boys, but special mention to Morgan, thought he was immense in the midfield last night. -

Telephone Tickets for Wembley
SFKA South Woodford replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Just had a mail from David Luker saying 'doubtful that the club will get a further allocation, and that sales had just gone through 27,500'. So with 4000 tickets sold in five and a half hours, doesn't look like today will match last weeks sales of more than 10,000 on the first day. -
That's what comes of living too near to the Chelsea training ground!

After today, my already very low opinion of Chelski and their moronic fans has gotten lower. I know banter is a part of football and enjoy it when it's good humoured, but their treatment of Bridger today was low to say the least. I'm glad City gave them the thrashing they deserved.

He may be class with the ball on the floor, but in my opinion he leaves a bit to be desired as far as his heading ability goes, he seems to either miss time his jump or gets out jumped for the ball fairly often.

For those travelling by train from west of Didcot, providing you have a network railcard, you can split your fare by getting returns from your local station to Didcot and then getting a ticket from Didcot to London which includes a tube travelcard. You should be able to buy both tickets from your local station, and should save you the price of a few beers.

Yes, this is exactly the point that Alpine is trying to make, other clubs bigger than us have struggled to make it out of this division, so what sets next seasons Saints apart from them, as many are predicting we'll stroll this division next season, even playing on bog's of pitches against teams struggling to beat relegation who battle for every second of the game? Of those teams you mention only City would have spent a comparable amount of money to Saints and achieved promotion earlier because of it, Leeds and Forest spent longer than NC and ML's plan allow in this division building up their squads to a point where they could cope with any team on any pitch, something that all three of those teams you mention were able to do. This is where our current squad doesn't look good enough to do the job, as we don't have the level of graft within the squad. On pitches like those of our recent away games, the amount of effort put in from the team is what counts, not the reputations of the players. We have to be able to play on any surface if we are going to be serious contenders next season, which means more than two interchangeable styles of play, hoofing the ball through the middle is not good enough, when our more expansive play football through the middle approach doesn't work in the conditions. The team then have to battle for the whole game and use the wings to play football, at present we play far too narrow, and one of the reasons for this is Lallana's constant drifting into the middle. Yes he's a very decent player at this level but to unlock these teams on their own pitches we need width on both wings, something that wouldn't go amiss at St Mary's either, as it would lead to scoring more early goals and us being able to kill off matches much earlier than at present. Stockport being a case in point, as we struggled to break down the worst team in the league for most of the game. Whilst it's nice not to lose games, I wouldn't mind seeing us lose one the games we've drawn if two of the others turned into wins. Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool don't go into away games thinking it'll be alright if we don't win, just as long as we don't lose, they know that to be successful you have to win 95% of your matches home and away. Alps, Glasgow and the rest of us of 'the concerned' want to see the kind of progression from the team that will see this become a reality next season, not the constant stuttering that is currently occuring.

If P*mpey get wound-up on Friday :Poll:
SFKA South Woodford replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
How good would it be if this turns out to be someone from the Nigerian government who has £25 million pounds that he needs to stash into someone's account?, or someone whose family needs to move the monetry estate of a dead relative out of the country and just needs their bank details to transfer the cash to them. Would be so funny that their hope disappeared but also funny when the scammer finds out that he's wasted his time and effort as they don't have a pot to **** in. I have a feeling though that fishy boys will come out of this unscathed as so many people/organisations are bending over to help them, it wouldn't even surprise me if they get away without a points deduction even if they are relegated and remain in administration when demotion is confirmed. Now that would royally p*ss me off! They have misinformed and confidence tricked their way along for more than a year, now they deserve to be punished and I hope they are on March 1st. -
Pardew expects Southampton board to keep their word
SFKA South Woodford replied to John B's topic in The Saints
I too think that he has until Christmas this year to get us into the top two places of this division, with the team giving dominant displays week in week out. However, the team needs to be start delivering those dominant displays far more regularly this season to lay the foundations for a quick start for next season. Yes the big teams will be gone unless Leeds and Norwich have almighty balls ups for the rest of this season, but the fact of the matter is that our results against those teams are not what currently leave us 18 points from a play off position, all be it with two games in hand. So he has to start improving the performances against the teams who have nothing to lose and everything to gain when playing Saints, teams that are so dogged that they have to be battered into submission, only then will we have any hope of getting out of this league at the right end. Look at how long it took Forest to achieve it, and how long it is taking Leeds, because the lesser teams gave their all against them. I know that they didn't/haven't had the resources at Pardews disposal, but that only adds to the pressure that he will be under from Cortese, as the five year plan will not allow another two years in League one, so we are going to have to buck the trend of the other big clubs who have wallowed in this mire. So please Mr Pardew more of the effort levels from Saturday, but with it lasting the entire ninety minutes not seventy five. -
No, Saints should do what they are constantly doing, tell them they are going to get paid on time and then make them wait another couple of weeks. It's not like they have the money to be able to sue our club is it? Come to think of it maybe we should just with hold it and sign another player on loan or pay it straight to HMRC for them.

Time to put the Amarillo ghost to rest

If only this was just off Pompey instead, all of their troubles would be solved with one boat hitting it! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/3578244.stm -
Female, so what do you expect, they change their minds every few minutes on a whim, so not really unexpected that she could change her allegiance so easliy, probably thought that she looked better in blue than red and white as well. Typical, according to that article, her family are skates, and she only supported Saints to get back at the men in her family. I'd hope that this hasn't happened to any Saints supporting families. Is there anyone on here whose family is divided over the game tomorrow?

I did fear that the ref might send him off, but was also in agreement that he should of been in there standing up for his team mates, as the Dons players were constantly trying to break up our play with little kicks and fouls and then mouthing at our players for going down. For the Dons player to get in Lallana's face after he was hacked down was ludicrous. The same thing happened when Antonio was trying to get clear and two of them hacked him down, Leven was over and gobbing off at him, Antonio got up looked at him for second and then trotted off up the pitch. It also shows a unity in our squad as on Monday night Murty said that in that situation he would want his team mates in there backing him up, so fair play to Wayne. As for the little wotsit, did anyone else see him go flying in on Thomas, only to bounce off of him and end up on the floor? He immediatly started to cry out in pain and grabbed his ankle for all of half second before realising the ref had given us the free kick. Was total simulation, no wonder Wayne got a little worked up when they were trying so blatantly to get him sent off. As for the referee, he did himself no favours when he refused to act on their attempts to ruff us up. That challenge in the first minute should have been a yellow card as their player was late and went right through ours, then the couple of incidents with Papa getting hacked down and then whacked in the face and the one where Antonio got a whack in the face from their left back. So he let their players off totally, if he hadn't, I doubt Thomas would of been so fired up.

Where are the TV highlights being shown?
SFKA South Woodford replied to unionhotel's topic in The Saints
And Wilbraham quite clearly in an offside position when the ball is hoofed back in and he gets a touch on the ball when it drops, so should have been disallowed for offside. Meaning we actually won 3-0 and didn't need all that panic that their goal created. -
I hope Markus will be there this evening, I didn't see him at the stockport match the other week and have heard he has missed a few other games recently, so let's hope he is there and we get the right result tonight. Then perhaps we could all give him a chorus of Markus Liebherrs red and white army, as a small thank you to him.

I don't want to see them gone totally but it would be nice if the Premier and Football Leagues came to some arrangement where they are immediatly demoted and suspended from competition for the rest of this season, giving us a bye into the next round. Perhaps Nicola could offer to pay some of their debts in return for our two clubs swapping places, yes with only fifteen points we would be relegated from the Premier at the end of the season, but we would still have achieved promotion to the championship. I'm sure that i've heard of one team buying anothers league position in the past, but not sure whether the football league have now changed the rules on doing so. Please guys, don't mention that f**king song ever again, it brings me out in cold sweats and I develop an irrational urge to become deaf whenever I hear it's name, let alone hear the song, bas*ard tannoy and dj at that dump have scarred me for life.

Can someone please show all us doubting Thomas's this magic switch which is going to be flipped to make us win all these tough games next season? I'm sure we'll all feel a lot better for it! As for playing teams on shocking pitches, why wont we be doing the same next season, is Markus going to pay for every team we play against to upgrade and improve their pitch to the standard at St Mary's or something? Wont opposition managers be telling their groundstaff to prepare their pitch to spoil our game? Even at home, it's only really home advantage that means we are beating teams, and even then it usually takes a bad decision by the ref to get their backs up and get them playing, like the Stockport player going right through the back of Lambert last week and the ref and lino totally missing it. Then the players only stepped up their game until they had done enough, we played the worst team in the division and laboured and made them look good, coming away with a scoreline which should of flattered them, but actually flattered us. The minus ten is totally irrelevant to our current position, as even without it we would still be five points away from the play offs, which is a gap which is widening with every away game, admittedly five points isn't a huge gap, but you need to be eating into it to have a chance of getting into those positions and the team isn't doing that at present. It's Pardews choice to play all of his new acquisitions, he could of introduced them slowly, which I know would frustrate some who want to see them play, but tinkering with a winning formula too much is a sure way to failiure, especially when the one position in which the team is crying out for improvement hasn't been addressed. The team still desperately needs a dominant central midfielder, without it we have a decent defence, which would normally be able to soak up the oppositions attacks being over run by the pressure from the oppo's midfield and conceeding sloppy goals. Whilst Hammond is out he should be giving Gillet a try at breaking up the oppo's attacks, not James or the disaster that is Paul 'sideways or up and under' wotton. If we are really going to be serious contenders next season, then this team has to start putting in more ninety minute performances and dominating more teams, at the moment I do not see much from them that says that next season will not be a repeat of this one.
-
Oh come on talk some sense! How can we suddenly start winning week in, week out next season? We will still be up against teams that see us as being their cup final, thus putting in that extra effort and still playing on pitches set up to spoil our playing style. So what is going to make the difference between this season and next when playing these teams on their pitches? After all we don't have a divine right to beat them and can't expect them to just roll over for us. Pardew needs to get a ninety minute performance from his team far more regularly than he is achieving at the moment, or this time next year we will have a new manager, as you can be sure that if we aren't in the top two let alone the top six, Cortese will see it as being unacceptable. If we are looking at the ultimately successful outcome that we all want at the end of next season, then the team have to start making their class tell and start turning these draws against awkward teams into wins, meaning that they have to start putting in more complete performances each game this season to carry it on into next season. So let's hope they start with Franchise FC on Tuesday, so they get the crowds backing and St Marys rocking and we all get to go home happy.

Milton Keynes rallying call :-) Shame
SFKA South Woodford replied to brianoneils slidingtackle's topic in The Saints
Franchise FC and franchise fans, sums up the MK Dons. They somehow managed to find 35,000 fans for their last visit to Wembley in the JPT final, yet can barely manage 5,000 for the home leg of the area final, so what's happened to the rest of them? However if you read the JPT website there our some of their fans on it interviewed after the first leg that were complaining that they coudn't get a ticket for the final last time as the club only asked for 35,000 tickets, again where did they come from, and how can they think that they merit that many tickets when their average attendance is less than 10,000? -
I had the same choice to make for the same reason, so went for the MK Dons as well. My reasoning being that I have seen Saints beat the skates twice already and that was at a time when they didn't have any excuses about 'off the field distractions' and we both had decent players, so was thinking that they would have been sweeter victories to savor. I'm now not so sure, if beating them this time will not be the sweeter for their higher league position and their off field plight. What say you, boys and girls? I am still happy that I have made the right decision, as it will be very nice going to the game next week with my dad who is coming up from Cornwall especially and then hopefully being able to go to Wembley with him for a second and perhaps last time.
-
Without wanting to tempt fate and knowing that we are not there yet as we have another hard game to come. I looked up the price of tickets for last years final. They were priced in bands of ten pounds from £20 to £50 for non concessions and will probably be more expensive this year, so it could be double the cost of a matchday ticket at St Marys depending on which banding the club allocates you to. So some could be put off by the price.
-
So you are happy to walk around in something that looks like it was worn by your great great grandfather then? Personally i'd like something a little more modern, as when the team played in the last game at the Dell against Brighton the shirts they wore looked pretty naff, as do others with hundred odd year old designs. Something that acknowledges the past but is more modern would in my opinion be much better.

When Cortese joined the club, it was stated that he had been involved in Italian football in various ways, such as various transfer negotiations, and had also been involved in various revenue stream and finance deals for several italian clubs one of which was Fiorentina. So it looks likely that this is just old news rehashed and given a new spin with people putting 2+2 together and getting 5.
