  1. Yes, they should mark the anniversary in some way in my opinion. Perhaps The Fleming Arms could have a fireworks party and a bonfire in the car park? I would attend. There is a 'Willis Fleming Trust' actually ESB. People may be interested to know that the Fleming family paid for the North Stoneham War Shrine in the park (designed by Capabilty Brown) opposite the Cricks in Chestnut Avenue. The society has recently restored it and there is to be a service there on Rememberance Day. http://www.northstoneham.org.uk/warshrine/events/index.html Ther's an identical one at Havenstreet on the IOW, which I assume has Fleiming family links too, due to there being another Fleming Arms only a couple of miles away from it. There was during WW1 a depot for 'sorting' horses for the cavalry (amongst others) in the park, iirc more than a quarter of a million horses passed through their hands. I think it was where St Georges and the flower estate now stands? They even held a Royal Show there at one time! There are some great old maps on the site too, here's one of my faves: http://www.northstoneham.org.uk/archive/greenwood1826.html
  2. All of the things that are supposedly bad about budget airlines are hardly news, i am not quite sure why people complain when they know all this prior to booking? Isn't it a bit like ordering a buger and moaning that it isn't steak (after you've eaten it)?
  3. I have today by the way, had one slice of toast, one crumpet (dripping with butter) and about five cups of tea. Tonight I will be having a gourmet burger (and pint) followed by more pints.
  4. Is the mash used in fishcakes the same **** that they make the fake mash out of in pubs and restaurants? We love mash but why oh why do they not make the real stuff? It's not expensive nor is it hardly complicated recipe FFS. Seriously, FFS!
  5. Did Sep or the FA dish out any punishment to Joe Kinnear after his (arguably as justifiable) tirade last year? Nought I think, but then again Kinnear isn't on their hit list is he....
  6. Did people realise that it was Sir Thomas Fleming of; Fleming Avenue, Fleming House, FlemingPark and The Fleming Arms fame that sentenced Guy fawkes to death? I think he's buried at the 1 handed clock church.
  7. Remember Alec Bennett's? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alec_Bennett Rememeber bombing down Stoneham Lane, pre Thomas Lewis way? Incidentally, re Thomas Lewis way, did people know that it holds the World Record for the longest street party ever. Cool eh? Were you there that day?
  8. Could be in a bit of bother with Sep after this (with English Subtitles): http://www.empireofthekop.com/anfield/?p=4927

  13. Really friendly chap and not really funny that people take the pee, but I think you mean this chap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1DAhWJAJ4o&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsfFECF8l40&feature=PlayList&p=323C89A048F44179&index=0&playnext=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMzQCDh7ZTo btw, anyone remember the rockabilly band 'Get Smart'? They used to play in the precinct and I also saw them up at Covent Garden a few times too. They were brilliant and I have an old LP with one of their tracks on. The lead singer's name will come to me, but they had a double bass player and the lead singer looked soooo cool in his leather 3/4 jacket and shades, I wanted to be him. I think he lived in Hedge End?
  14. How can I tell you I love you, When I can hardly breathe down here. hamster 16/6/90
  15. True story. I was with the 1st mrs hamster at the time. I found my toothvrush on top of the medicine cabinet in the bathroom. Used it, put it back in toothbrush holder and went to work. Got home later on and she sheepishly fessed up that she'd used it to clean cat (Barratt) poo from our quilt. Dirty filthy *****, I suppose the sriting was on the wall from that moment on. Not being heartless, but I did have a wry smile to myslef when *she died later that same year. *Barratt not mrs h.
  16. .. a better player...a better man. FULL STOP
  17. I've been sledding and I've been dogging, but never the two things at the same time. Sounds cool though.
  18. Someone could do something with The Blue Danube imo
  19. Ha sno-one got an account log in that can be 'shared' yet? When I had a subscription a few years back there were four or five people sharing it.
  20. We need to bear in mind that there are only a finite amount of points available to ANY team over the season. Imagine a card game of 24 players, the rules state that to gain promotion a player needs to get ONE ace (let's say 1 ace = 70 points), you however (because that ****** Mawhinney says so) have to get TWO aces - the bastard. You get your first ace which leaves less aces for the everyone to fight over, but ultimately the others are fighting each other and NOT you, as you've actually turned the rules to your advantage. Mathematically the odds are even for all players EXCEPT you, UNTIL you get that first ace, then it is not even level, YOU have an advantage as at the end of the game only 3 other players can possibly have a better hand than you, even if you finish behind those 3 players, you still get promoted in 4th place. Odds are stacked against you to come top, but you have a distinct advantage once you've got that ace re gaining promotion. Of course in the footballing world you are not dealt that ace, you have to nick it from one of the other players. The question remains at what point have we bagged that elusive ace? I would suggest that once we are properly 9 points shy of those play off spots we are there, or at the very least within touching distance. Does that make any sense whatsoever? to anyone?
  21. Nick have you taken into account that to make the play-offs we have to take an extra 10 points from the opposition? There comes a point when those points that worked against us at the start, work against the opposition. I am struggling to explain it, but any mathematicians on here will know what I am trying to say.
  22. /\ Some great lines from them too Harve, "Now I've bin workin ard to meet me targits To earn a couple of bob to go to margit"

And I do wish people wouldn't try to validate their point's by adding stuff like "apart from the armed forces". Why the hell should your econimic policies NOT apply to the armed forces? What seperates our military personnel from your rants, we're all part of the same problems, ergo we are ALL part of any solution.

Why do people judge others by how much money they have or how much they ask for? It's not the working classes who cause inflation, they are merely trying to keep up with the pace. Just think what a 1% rise will buy for a someone below the £25k average, as opposed to someone on above it. The further either side that you are, the less that average means to you, and the more it riles when people tell you what you should be doing with it. It is so easy to critisise the lower paid when you are comfortable, but do not please be under the illusion that anyone with wealth has earnt it without the infrastructure of the socialist system behind them. It is because of socialism that wealthy people can get wealthier. And some wonder why the working classes have this so-called chip on their shoulder's!
