Saints fans dishing out racist abuse would be simply moronic and utterly absurd, given the great service black players have given the club over the decades and still do. I have never heard any racism at St Mary's and can't remember any incidents at the Dell either for that matter. We have always been a bit more intelligent and amusing than that.

Adkins has done well in his first year, but now faces a real challenge to show us the depth of his skills as a manager. I worry about the distinctly vapid, tedious managmentspeak he trots out week after week in public. Does he do the same with the players prematch, half-time and post match? Not exactly inspirational or Churchillian after the 58th time of listening...and perhaps is indicative of a wider lack of imagination and ideas. I hope I am wrong.
