that is a 2 year old article referring to even older stats. This below is more upto date, authoritative, and shows the Prem decline before slight rise last year. Acres of empty seats.

Prem showed some resilience last year after 3 years of decline, but the other leagues are down 3.5% I also think the figures are massaged upwards by clubs by including all seasons regardless of the actual figure in the ground etc...

Football attendances are suffering across the board, partly due to the £ crisis but also the game here is in a popularity recession. It has been very fashionable for 20 years, driven by the whole Prem-Sky thing, after it had reached a nadir of attendance figures and fashionability in the late 1980s. Now it is on the downturn of the cycle again, I can't see boom times for a decade or more. People are fed up with overpaid but poor quality players and so-so teams and faceless, soulless, corporate clubs, screwing them for every penny. The Prem has collapsed in quality this last 2 years and is failing in Europe, while the national team - England - is an utter joke. A few more Rangers disasters are long overdue....
