James' pace is what lets him down IMO. He is a defensive midfielder, he should play in the centre, NOT on the wing.

Whilst I agree that this is pointless, it will certainly be interesting if Lowe acts the same way if we survive with a couple of games to go or on the last day. Will it be a massive underachievement again? Or will it show how brilliant he was to bring in someone who could get a bunch of kids to survive in this league? I'm sure Mark Hughes isn't complaining that the owner bought Robinho, and to be honest if I was Curbishly i'd be happy with getting £9million for Ferdinand and £4.5million for Mcartney.

The thing we have to remember is that we are trying to reduce costs - Lallana and Surman will not be on big wages and did not cost us anything, so why do we need to sell them?

Does indeed seem a bit pointless - why not just alter the original champions league so that the actual champions participate. That way we won't have to put up with the media banging on about Liverpool going all the way in Europe.

Whilst i'm not happy about the state of things at the moment, Uefa cannot do anything to stop it. I think the major problem we have with a European league is that big money men are now buying the smaller teams as well - OK, so Man City aren't that small, but I give it two seasons before it becomes a "Big 5". What do we do then? Put all 5 of them into a super league? What if another club, say Everton, are bought out by big money men and are regulars at the top of the table - do we take them as well? I guess the point i'm trying to make is that if we do take the top 4 out now, the Premier League will still attract massive investors - it's marketing is too strong. Eventually there will just be a new top 4.
