  1. Where is that from? I am very surprised to hear the club actually come out and give a number on what we are looking to sign in this window.
  2. "Better than McCarthy" is every first choice keeper in the Prem, half the second choice keepers in the Prem and half the first choice keepers in the championship. It's not much of an expectation.
  3. Commercially we are absolutely abysmal. I don't know how much of that is just down to where we are both in physical location and standing in the game.
  4. The kid was born in Slough and lived here his whole life to be fair. I doubt he feels the pressure as much as someone who lives in Albania.
  5. Indeed, but it's also about accepting players with flaws if they have strong attributes that work in a team and overall contribute to regular wins.
  6. They kept it very quiet!
  7. Very disappointed that the loan wasn't asked about.
  8. Cheer up, everything sounds good to me with this news today!
  9. He could pay it off so the money is owed to him with the understanding that he'd make it back in any future sale.
  10. Yeah that gave me a twinge.
  11. Woman presenter reads out two questions from twitter and Adam starts his response with "There wasn't really any plans, erm to both those twits..." bit harsh.
  12. Are you Martin in disguise?
  13. Adam takes us on a journey through time, everything that's happened since Liebherr took over.
  14. Even she sounds good after the news of a takeover. Nothing could piss me off today.
  15. No money loaned to buy the club, no debt coming with the owners. Saints are targetted to be the "crown jewel" in their stable of clubs, ala Leipzig to the Red Bull group. All three have background in media and data investment specifically related to sports - the data part makes it sound to me like we'll be going back to the black box/moneyball style signings. This is a very organised, strategic move with a long term vision, it's not just "someone with a few quid fancies buying a club". More after this from Taylor Swift.
  16. Saints to be the "crown jewel" in their stable of clubs, so the Leipzig of the group.
  17. That specific quote is referring to investment in other clubs.
  18. It'll be very interesting to see what other clubs they invest in around Europe.
  19. Commenting on the agreement, the Lead Investor of Sport Republic, Dragan Šolak, said: “My partners and I have experience in long-term investments in the sports and entertainment industry and Sport Republic has been founded to combine this expertise and deliver something unique to the market. Southampton has so many of the qualities we have been looking for in a major sports organisation. It has a great management team, excellent talent development, talented teams playing attractive football and a dedicated fan base. We are delighted to be able to complete this acquisition as a first step towards execution of our investment strategy. Southampton will be a cornerstone of the organisation we plan to build.” The Chairman of Sport Republic, Henrik Kraft, added: “We will be an active and engaged owner, but we will not be starting any revolutions. We were attracted to Southampton because it is already a well-run club that follows a clearly defined strategy. “Southampton’s CEO Martin Semmens will continue to run the day-to-day operations of the club, and Sport Republic will be working closely with him and his team to help the club grow. “Whilst Southampton is Sport Republic’s first acquisition, we expect more investments to follow over the coming years. Our ambition is to build a portfolio of high-influence stakes in football clubs and other sporting assets across the world. “At the same time, we will also invest in early-stage sports technology companies and use our portfolio to accelerate the development of these companies. The acquisition of Southampton is a great first step and we are very excited about the journey ahead.”
  20. "Managers, players and staff". And fans?
  21. Pointless comparison as Liverpool bring in hundreds of millions in sponsorship, merchandise and executive hospitality.
  22. Is he definitely going to be directly involved with us or is he working in the group overseeing a bunch of clubs?
  23. West ham are a London based team with a brand new huge stadium that costs the club next to nothing. They're a massive opportunity. We are not.
  24. They were all sarcastically posting on twitter in response to the postponement how unfair it was that we would be able to have new signings in place for the rearranged game.
