There's a few players that have sneakily become long time servants for us without it being obvious. Long has made 211 appearances, Bertrand 213, Redmond 167.

Their designs for every club is worse than the current version. They don't seem to realise how cheap they look, with rigid straight lines and bold font everywhere...Premier League clubs are a premium brand these days and want everything to look quality. Our badge btw is one of the best around, it's unique (there's an awful lot of just shields and circles out there) and incorporates many aspects of the local area. As someone said above, including 1885 somewhere on there would be good but otherwise, leave it alone.

I mean, this is something that happened years ago under Reed. He gave an interview where he said they didn't see the point in loaning players out because you're learning a different way etc etc, but about a year later that got discarded as they realised there's still huge value in a seasons first team experience, regardless of who it's with.

I think the concern last season about us being overly reliant on Ings- and particularly the attention paid to it by the media - is a bit of a misnomer. Looking at the image below it seems it's the norm for over 40% of a teams goals to be scored by one player. Edit - but I agree, it is nice to see the likes of Ward-Prowse and Adams chipping in, and with Armstrong and Walcott hopefully finishing with 5+ each and maybe Djenepo too we are looking a potent attacking unit.

Fantastic initiative.

He'll have a test in that time and be back for us.

If we signed a player from Celtic who had got 14 goal involvements in 18 games people would be buzzing.

I love that Goberns horror tackle V Bournemouth is in there 😂

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Saint_clark replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
I've missed all this about the Mink stuff. Is it actually confirmed that it's a different strain? Could it not just be an outbreak of the same virus? -
I guess we'll see. We all wrote Forster off as well, but he's back as number 2. Which world class club was he turning in performances for? Oh...the same one.
-
Looks like it's just a concept and so it's possible they're printing them to order. Why anyone would want that is beyond me, it's nice to be top of the league but that? Why don't we bring out a DVD to commemorate it 🤦♂️

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester

Surely if he returns and gets tested negative he shouldn't need to isolate? -
He barely got much of a chance in the Prem, and that was at the back end of the dark days in between Koeman and Ralph. Scoring a hat trick against Motherwell will help his case more than not scoring against Motherwell. And Ralph has said there is the opportunity for him to challenge in the side next summer.
-
Ah piss...
-
Glad to see he's progressing, would be nice if one of our "failed" signings actually turned it round. Could be a Redmond replacement if we cash in on him next summer.
-
Never thought I'd be nervous listening to West Brom v Tottenham worried about dropping to second place.
-
I hope we've learnt from the mistake we made with Koeman. If Ralph starts getting interest from top clubs but is willing to stay with a large pay increase, give him the god damn money. We paid more out to Puel, Pellegrino and Hughes than we would have done just giving Koeman the contract he was asking for. Similar to now - we might be able to find a cheaper manager if we let Ralph go, but then we could end up with another 3-4 years of regression.
-
Who cares, they're still gonna have to show us at the top of the table at the end of the show.
-
🤦♂️ That'll teach me for not fact checking. Read an article that said we'd won the last 5 games since losing to Spurs, I (and obviously they) completely forgot about the Chelsea game.
-
Believe we've now equalled our Prem record wins in a row with 5, a 6th in the row would be immense.

It's an ominous sign that covid is going to get much, much worse in this international break and the human race will never recover. Still, at least Saints were top of the league when the world ended.
-
Not to spoil the positive mood, but just want to say I fucking hate how often international breaks come around.
-
Really hope we sign him on a free at the end of the season. I know he's 31 and on his way out but I genuinely believe having players like him, Ings, JWP, Bertrand, Long around who have great love for the club is what drives our style of play even further.
