Last season was a disappointment in general for me as well, but i'm not panicking thinking there's some big slide on the way. We've been progressing non-stop for 7 years, we were bound to have a setback at some point - it's how we respond that's important. And to be fair we have responded pretty well in my book, replacing the manager with a more attack minded one and putting our foot down with player sales at last.

Utterly bizarre to me, no-ones going to miss their football league club play to watch Saints play Sevilla in a pre-season game streamed on facebook.
-
Oh FFS, missed the Augsburg game due to work (admittedly did me a favour), I can watch this one before I head out but it's not being streamed, fantastic.

Shock horror, maintaining or improving on our highest ever Premier League finish proved to be incredibly difficult. I would have been in disbelief of the reality around me if we'd managed to improve our league position yet again. As for this: I can't be the only person who thinks his tenure hasn't even begun? Pre-season means nothing, league form is what it's all about.

Worth pointing out that Targett is two years younger than Jack Stephens and minus three long term loan deals to get experience.
-
Just because almost all of the first team got a run out doesn't mean they were played together at any point.
-
Final audition, blimey. 4 pre-season games was it and written off already?
-
No. Fonte Hooiveld first season back was.
-
Schneiderlin himself said openly that he changed his mind and decided to buckle down and stay for the last season after the first game of the season when he heard Saints fans chanting his name.

This quote always made me cringe a little; . What's the source on that? Who's doing that survey? Seems like a statistic plucked out of thin air to support his claim, to me

The header from Gabbiadini really was quite exquisite. Been a while since we had someone that could score from any situation.

It's an easily recognisable trend in football that spending on wages is a pretty good indication of where you will finish in the league, but transfer spend has very little correlation at all.
-
He was in Boufals training video running with the ball so...not sure what's happening there. Maybe he is up for sale - shame if so, I still think there's a decent player in there.
-
Ah, cheers! I gave in and just watched the highlights instead...impressed with Ward-Prowses goal, that's the kind of late run into the box first time finishing we've been crying out for from him from the start! I still have faith he'll develop into a goalscoring midfielder.

Tempted to actually watch all of this if they upload it, i've been that deprived of football.
-
It's a good job no-ones advocating we have both of them as first choice then, isn't it.
-
Haven't watched it but if players were acting "odd" around him, imagine how you would act if one of your co-workers had a camera strapped to them that was going to publish the footage online for the world to see - you'd probably avoid the limelight and tone down what you had to say as well.

Just had a quick nose at their thread - do they not get the irony of playing the victim card about being called victims?
-
Please, please can we hold an unofficial minutes silence before we play them, with banners and everything?
-
That first season he was also used out on the wing for the vast majority of it. Only time he got a proper run up front was the second season when Pelle was out injured.

Oops, that was meant to be Wimmer for £15million!
-
...Cortese?
-
I want to be the first to blame MLG for this whole thing.
-
Is this coming from somebody on our end or theirs?
-
Personally if we sell Van Dijk for £70million, I'd get Sigurdsson for £45million and Wimmer for £15million, with the extra £10million easily covering their wages. People will say we'd never spend that much but there's no excuse, if we're getting that sort of fee it needs to be reinvested and not in £12million potential players. It's a lot of quality to lose and we need instant quality coming in.
