Things I love about this video even forgetting the scousers reactions: 1. Seeing the bench erupt. 2. Seeing the fans going mental (wish it was a clearer pictures though). 3. Seeing the players all going mental and swarming towards Long.

Agree with much of the sentiment above. RIP to the guy, it's a very sad story...but there is a time and a place for this sort of thing and I don't believe football is it. As someone has mentioned, this is a huge occasion for the club and i'm sure 99% of the fans attending will have someone they will be thinking about who they wish could be there...it's better to let them quietly think about that person in their own way. The biggest example of how this trend has gone so far that it now seems insincere is that every single team now wears black armbands in almost every game. I'm sure sometimes there isn't even anything to wear them for, they just wear them as part of the uniform now.

Why Southampton are so good at talent spotting

As above, very interesting that we were tracking Romeu for so long. Wonder who else we've had our eyes on...I know Coutinho was one. -
No name required at purchase but you are required to acknowledge Nigel Adkins achievements and ability.

Not really because we have outgoings that need to be paid. Profit was less than £20million last year I think. Now that the owner can pocket if they so choose...

He's older than Theo was when he played for us and a completely different style of footballer. Their pace is similar although Walcott is still quicker.

There's a lad called Olafebi (?) who seems to have got a lot of goals for the youth recently.
-
Surely you being the super duperest of all fans qualify for the first round of tickets, Alex?
-
For the JPT you picked a category and were allocated seats IIRC.

Yeah...if he's out for another month or more now we're going to have to seriously consider whether keeping him next summer is viable. He's been fantastic recently, but can we afford to carry someone who can spend more than half the season out injured?
-
Will obviously give him a chance, but he doesn't seem like someone who's going to come in and score more goals than anyone else we already have here. Also holy sh*t i'm watching Sky Sports transfer centre and they're LITERALLY using his stats from football manager whilst discussing his ability.
-
I assume he omitted that because he's already bought one...but then I guess he could always just buy one more!

People say that attendances prove an expansion wouldn't be worth it, but there's a lot of evidence that points to a "build it and they will come" trend in football. If you have a ground that's easy to get to, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing...it usually winds up drawing more people in. There was an excellent chapter in the book Soccernomics about it. In this case though, I think i'd rather the money they're putting forward be spent on acquiring some of the land around the stadium and developing it for commercial use. If we could build a "plaza" type area with Saints owned and run bars, a restaurant etc. It would make St Marys an incredibly attractive destination.

Don't think it works like that for cups does it? Just the squad for the final?

Now THAT is the best video to come out of last night. Seeing the away end go mental, the bench explode...brilliant. For me it's being surrounded by the roar from all sides when you're playing away and the home team scores...especially if you're in a stadium with steep stands and you have to watch thousands of people go mental.
-
His face watching the lads going mental and celebrating in a real show of togetherness after the goal and at fulltime last night -

Christ alive. Thank god i'm in the very first sales period.

Those links don't work because they've been shortened. On the page that opens, delete all the crap after the persons username and just find the video...it's the one at the top for most of them I think.

Good point!

The club could use some new signings - but I don't want us to buy for the sake of it. I only want players we would buy anyway.

Perhaps part of the money is going into shares, part is coming in as a loan to be paid back?
-
That's pretty cynical if true, i'd wager the amount of tickets swapped is less than 1% of tickets sold in total.

It's roughly two blocks opposite the tunnel.

Stopped at Mcdonalds on the way back and although my group are all fairly slim, one rolled down the window and shouted "fat c*nts" at us before rolling the window back up. And returning to the McDonalds bag in his lap.

Good comparison. I've only just about forgiven Hojberg for the Beer Sheva game where he moved away from a ball passed to him, allowing the interception, shot and goal. He gave the ball away last night that led to Coutinhos shot just wide - had that gone in and we gone out, I don't think i'd have had it in me to forgive him at all. There is definite potential for a quality player there, but a lot of work to be done. We were all wondering why he wasn't starting earlier in the season...looks like Puel was right. Again.
