Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
dubai_phil replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Aw, c'mon, it was the easiest chance I've had all season Perhaps Jenas in CM then? -

Every sign & portent spells doom. Not just the NA, previous games omens, but even the omens over here. Eric's first game in the pub for a couple of weeks - he has missed all our demolitions of the Top Teams through work. Damascus Saint coming to the game - has never seen us win. FMDP's last game of the season before heading home to prepare everything for the Wedding of the Year. dubsaint Dan's all day Birthday Party. 3 Newbies on the block AND, most distracting of all, a 3:45pm local kickoff in the #1 Beach Bar in Dubai. On an average Saturday there are around 5-600 of Dubai's finest Bikini's on the Beach... From midway through the 1st half they'll all becoming up to around the Big Screen for their sundowners........ Worried we may lose focus on the matchday thread.... But hey, if the footie is rubbish we may be able to introduce the new lucky

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
dubai_phil replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
IMHO it was one hell of a gamble. BUT. IF we stay up we have experienced players all through the squad and can then add more "Talent and Potential" things could be very interesting next season. I would have to assume at least one Academy player will be pushing to join the squad (as did Luke Shaw in the summer tour) and, having seen the improvement in Individual players in the past 6/8 weeks with MP the opportunity to bring in players who have better POTENTIAL than we have now starts to get exciting. Not getting carried away, still have gaps in the squad to cover, but imagine finding a young striker for 4/5/7 million who has the potential to be a BETTER player than JRod is looking like he could be.... IF we stay up then no way I'd want to bring in a Donkey with an OLD Head on him (Titus Bramble anyone? ) -
Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
dubai_phil replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Meh, that budget was purely to try and prove that they did not have a small penis. IF they had used some brains while spending that money then they'd have been dangerous, but nah it all went on Bling. What other club do we know that did that? -
He's discovered his Great Grandmother was Brazilian and has been called up to their National Squad in preparation for the WC?
-
Ian Darke @IanDarkeESPN 9m Another player England should perhaps look at is Southampton's Jack Cork for defensive midfield

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
dubai_phil replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
IF we stay up THEN we have an EXTRA 30million quid than this year to spend. While everyone else also has the same amount, many other clubs (Sunderland, QPR etc) have shown that they have no idea or continuity in the type of players they want to bring in. A better way to look at next season is to ask what teams actually seem to have some brains in their recruitment policies and so will improve? Swansea, Wigan, Spuds, Mancs spring to mind. For all we know Mayuka may come out of his enforced hibernation/secret growth hormone treatment and become a monster of a player for us next year. Or of course we could be starting the season with one of Richardson or Fox at FB... -
Think we've been pointing out for a while that the Middle East Massive is growing every week.... (Note we actually have a UAE National member of the massive these days)

Lol. As we saw KD on the touchline before the start of the 2nd half we all had the oh noes moment, then there was a moment midway through the 2nd half when on Telly at least it seemed to all of us that Moses had a clear shout for a penalty right on the 6 yard box when Maya barged him off the ball (our debate was more those are ALWAYS given against us and FOR big teams)... It was really from that moment onwards that as you say, the nerves kind of disappeared. In fact it was really funny, the table full of Spuds next to us had started to watch OUR game and in the last 10 minutes THEY were screaming at US to GET THE BALL IN THE CORNER. STAY DOWN.... Their noises attracted the Gooners and they joined in - FOX you idiot HOLD THE BALL we even joked about it with them, THEY were the nervous wrecks I thought we'd have been. Maybe seeing them so wound up tight calmed us down, maybe suddenly realising that OTHER team's fans are starting to watch us with more interest (was AMAZED they knew who Fox was tbh! maybe they are after him at WHL in the summer ) But as a Manc supporting pal said when he called to congratulate us after the game "You ran them ragged, they had nothing left in the tank at the end of the game - brilliant job lads thanks, beers are on me Monday night" Perhaps we could see that they weren't up for it and did not believe they could do it. Or maybe they just felt Rafa had let them down?

Reading were DREADFUL yesterday. Our corner of Barasti has 5 TV's in it, one of our massive was with his mates who are Gooners at our table. All we heard were oohs and how the feck did he miss that's, which made us look up to see yet another chance go begging. On a good day they really could have scored 3 or 4 more. Not the kind of start that fans or players would want for a new manager and tbh as one of the lads said, that had to be taken as a pretty demoralising thrashing. Let's see what happens after NA has had an extra week to work with the squad, but they may need more than new manager syndrome against us next week (But of course we all know they'll beat us)
-
Yeah, but the cynic would say that is exactly what the American Military/Industrial politico's would want. All those big fat rebuilding contracts. Also what better way to force Obama into reversing the massive cost cutting and Military Budgets. The huge "grey" support industry to the US Military (such as the likes of Dyncorp) are still smarting from the massive lay-offs and office closures. Obviously I don't think a "Hollywood Movie" level conspiracy of that level actually exists, but it will be a thought in the back of the mind of some CEO's over there

Epic fail.... OK so who was still in the bar?

Lucy Pinder @LPinderOfficial 5h Great result @SouthamptonFC x

Just want to give a big shout out to KD. He made two worldy saves today, OK the first was already called offside, but the tip - over from the deflection was class. Likewise, our new LM? Never saw that coming, with a bit more confidence he could (Should) have kept going as he broke in the box. JWP? Son, sometimes it's OK to toe poke the ball instead of trying to control and make another great pass. IF you'd stuck a toe out you could have scored two. JRod? Again, he scared them to death, so close to his second CMFG goal in two home games great touch, good finish but could/should have had another. SRL ambles around and oozes class beyond any Englandstriker since Sheringham. When we saw the line up we thought Aw Krap - without our two most creative players. We then went out and tore them a new asshole in the 1st 45. Unreal, unbelievable, BUT, NC saw it coming as did MP. Next week's game looks a different kettle of fish after NA's tonking today
-
He scared them to death in the 1st half. You lot got a bargain there. And that was from the Gooners & Spuds around us today
-
Oh and had 3 different txts in from Manc fans saying 1) we were awesome 2) we played them off the park 3) thanks for giving them the run around before Monday Free beer Monday from then woo hoo!

We are Southampton, we beat who we want. Have had a great weekend, this has made it sensational. 3 NEW members of @Dubai Saints Massive found us tonight. The table on our left had Gooners watching the game(s) on our right had Spuds watching the game(s) Last 10 mins of our game THEY were more stressed out watching us than we were! ROFL FFS Fox TAKE IT TO THE CORNER FLAG!!! (How the hell did Spuds know it was him!) Great Win, nosebleed from looking at the table and at Eric & The Smithmeister missing that for some dumb horse race
-
Crazy busy weekend so far (it involved Golf & beers out in the sticks of RAK) Just back home now rushing out to get to the pub for the game. Gonna be short of numbers today with some of the massive doing Racing, wering stupid expensive hats and quaffing Champers (yeah well nuff said) or just watching on telly quaffing Champers mixed with OSH? WTF Eric? Think we're due a League kicking by a top team. Oh well at least the ref changed
