Agree that is a great article and while I will never defend the timing or method of losing Nigel, there is a level of logic behind it. Now of course the ISSUE is whether the logic is coming from people who are clinically insane. Perhaps we are no longer a football club, we are now an experiment. Can we change the world? What is scrambling my head more than usual is that this new insane decision might work out for the best. As a Saints fan I hope it does. As a human being that believes in doing the right thing. I hate it and I might end up hating myself IF everything works out for the better and it turns out to have been a masterstroke. Speaking to many fans and media guys over the weekend they are ALL in total agreement that the sacking was insane. For the first time in as long as I can remember we (as fans of Saints) appear to have gained some sympathy/empathy/awareness from Football. Well, as you can guess there was only ONE topic of conversation in the Sky Compound this morning at the golf. One of their close up cameramen is a Brighton fan "I know he said some words about us but what Cortese has done is so wrong. He'd got you playing some of the best football in the PL - Disgusting" Reading fan "Thank Christ now we can get him in" But the general consensus - What the hell was NC thinking? I explained "His Vision" and they all agreed they would like to have whatever it is he smokes Later during the round 2nd placed Donaldson hit his ball up a Palm Tree. Cameras arrived to find a "There's only one Nigel Adkins" poster pinned to the tree. They made a point of showing it after they had fallen about laughing

I think you have hit the problem on the head. Us fans are happy to stay up. Instilling "the belief that we can hold our own in this league" is NOT in the plan. The 45/50k Stadium and CL football IS the plan, not holding our own. Still. NC has nailed his colours to the mast. He will go down as the worst CEO in footballing history or he will take us to the CL I have no doubt in my mind after today's events that NC truly believes he can achieve the latter and that this (to him) is simply a step on that path I think 99% of Saints fans think he needs men in white coats. Probably most people outside Eastern Hampshire dream of it happening Just after they dream of Megan Fox/George Clooney or whoever
