3 movies to report on from the plane Madagascar 3. Well for the first 30 minutes you kinda wonder what it is adding to the planet and why you bothered, the Penguins are in and out so quick at the beginning you blink and almost miss them. For the next 30 minutes or so I started to smirk, especially with the penguins having created a Nuclear Powered Hummer and their whole break the bank at Monte Carlo routine, and then as the new characters develop (The Tiger & The Ring A Flying Marty & Tight-rope walking Melman - lol) (And the scene in the Rail Car with Julien & the Lemurs... squeak squeak squeak) For the last 30 mins I was that annoying bstd on the plane laughing out loud with the headset on and tbh I absolutely LOVED the whole take the p1ss out the French vibe that ran through the whole movie. Je non regrets - classic. Well worth the watch 7.5/10 Ice Age 4. Hmmmm. Love the characters as everyone does, some good moments in it but they have to be careful because it could become very stale, Madagascar's French "Villain" wiped the floor with Ice Age's Bill Nighy/Johnny Depp Pirates rip off baddie. 5/10 Watch. Vince Vaughan, Ben Stiller ++. Risible. They tried to make a dumb guys sci fi comedy and managed to make neither a comedy nor a sci fi. Really was a 2/10 and made me wish I had chosen rock of ages instead

Totally agree with that. But he runs around a lot so a lot of people like him. How he keeps Mayuka out the starting line up.....

What an AWFUL trip. 1st half the crowd were resigned to another spanking, a couple of attempts to get behind the team but from everywhere seemed a resigned air and (let's face it) Boruc with his wobbles didn't help stop the groans Some thoughts. 1st half we were abject, the only player seeming to find time and space to cross a ball in was Fox (Who I felt had an OK game). AL again kept getting caught out of position and ended up making lung bursting head back half the pace of Lennon runs to get back into position. Thank God Defoe had an off day, he could have had 3 or 4 by half time. Clyne - at least TRY and jump to put some pressure on. (Well done to Bale for not celebrating) Hopefully we will never see Puncheon in a Saints shirt in the PL again. Yes he runs around a lot, yes he is useful in his own half, but for some reason, once he passes the half way line his brain seems to slow down. Lost count of the number of times in recent games he held on to the ball too long or put in an abject pass or cross. Once Mayuka came on we moved the ball so much more quickly. JRod, yes we DO have a PL quality striker there. Still more to come but FINALLY in the 2nd half he looked the part. Rickie. Yes his build up play was superb but he really does look slow - he seemed to take an age to set up for a shot - it was blocked, they came up field and scored. We looked SO much better switching to 4-2-3-1 and at the end almost 4-1-1-4 Convinced that the problem is still the defence, Yoshida is a quality footballer, Fox had an OK game Saturday (just he ain't good enough to be 1st choice), Jose looks better alongside Yoshida, and Clyne showed us he is still young and learning the game. Lallana HAS to play in the middle. His wanderings drop FB in the sh1t and he doesn't have the pace to get around his man, in the middle he is more invollved and his vision and passing. Oh and we DO have a top Quality PL player in our team - Schneiderlein Other than that, thank FOOK it warmed up after Saturday Night, and FMDP enjoyed the trip but was MEGA hacked off with the team & fans in the first half. Oh and gonna be hard to see how Boruc will avoid at least a fine for his nonsense (BTW he ONLY hit the Steward with the dopey Afro hair)

Just checked with Emirates web site. They have Aircall installed. Is there a Weatherspoons at 36,000 feet over Qatar? If so you'll get the call around 6am. Really 'preciate the help and support on this, it'll leave me enough strength for the 6 pints of OSH as soon as I hit Londinium Oh and thanks for the advice Tokyos. Will stay well clear of anywhere that has Cataplana or Paella on the menu at lunchtime tomorrow. Hopefully it will be no way Jose in the Moon under the Water in Leicester Sq early afternoon

Just idly speculating reading this every few days or so. Taking out the "it's all about the beeb at the moment" and thinking about the Jersey "cover up/mess/firing Cops" & Surrey, and who else could have known/been involved News International, Politicians, Royalty, one article mentioning MoD "links" and another mentioned "D Notice" but never in the same week let alone day Now that would be an interesting research project for someone

Hell no.. We gotta get up at 2am your time for a 5am flight. When we hit the smoke we have sightseeing & shopping until 7pm then dinner and talking sh1t with the kids to midnight - a 22 hour day... IF I keep schtum she'll start to read those when we take off giving me a clear extra 3 hours kip before they serve the food & booze.... With it being so dull I can sleep safe in the knowledge that she'll be sitting there with a what's the fuss about look... IF it was like Chapter 10onwards I'd have to stay awake to keep an eye on her in case she needed an emergency subcontractor service from a Gay Steward

In a 100 years time, when Historians dig up the time capsule that TSW gets buried in, they will uncover two critical moments in history recorded for posterity. Of course the main one that they will drool over will be the PTS. But, they will also note this epic thread. No, not for it's services to Literarcy, nor even for containing the most perfect prose ever wrote in a Review. They will note this thread as the one where Frank's Cousin finally got down to less than one typo per 4 lines of posting. Amazing how increased Blood Circlulation can improve the performance of the human brain. (note that was my attempt to distract myself from a Domestic HORROR moment that I uncovered by accident today). I was just finishing packing the wheelie bags for our trip home for Eid & to watch Bale muller Clyne on Sunday when I found in FMDP's bag...... The Book..... Oh crap

What NA has done & how he sets the team up and the football we play is superb. The PROBLEM is the defence and trying to play in the PL with players who let's face it were in the main an average nPc Defence. IF you set up a system with a DoF in all but name who recruits players with a team of scouts and a Chairman who must then close the deal you CANNOT simply blame (and change) the Manager. This defence needs Houdini to keep us up, not another manager. Those who say SRL should have started Saturday and blame NA because of that have a valid opinion. Equally valid is the fact that although we lacked the "goal threat" we showed FAR more movement and passing with JRod on the pitch than with SRL. Also, who made the AL goal with a perfectly timed run in the box, good control and an excellent pass to AL? What we SHOULD bedoing is anything possible to bring in out of contract PL Experience defenders BEFORE the January Window - it will be too late then. Give NA the right tools we have a good team on that pitch But we won't and it will be a massive mistake

Spurs Syndrome. During the era they believed they were the best they signed every decent attacking MF & striker on the planet (back in the Gazza days) - no defenders The Geordies in the KK days - the same. SOMEBODY IS TO BLAME And I don't think it is NA -

I'm having a lol at you mate. You didn't read either of my posts in reply to yours. I said you were right. You said and I just asked Who aren't admitting they were wrong. I NEVER said YOU were wrong. Duh, the opposite. Who (apart from Dalek) is ever always right on here -

Ok? so you need to apologise? But I thought you guys were the ones pointing out our problems in recruitment? Your previous post (and yes you have been proven right BTW) indicated that other posters should apologise for thinking it was all being sorted out & we were getting the Defenders we needed. I thought it was under control. I was horrified it did not get sorted and I have asked who's fault it was (I can kinda guess but Nige is getting the stick for it) So I agree you were right. I also think that the person who failed to recruit should be the one "Under Threat" I really think losing NA will be shown to have been a disaster and I do NOT believe that even Pep Guardiola, Bill Shankly and Lawrie Mac at their best could keep us up with this defence until January -

Any Names? Who needs to apologise? -
Agree with that, just a shame that Puncheon seems to totally go to pieces whenever he gets within 5 yards of the final third of the pitch. Defensively sound and a solid mover of the ball in his own half but in the formation we play where you need some creativity or at LEAST the ability to find our own player with a pass when attacking - dreadful and would take Guly every time ahead of him IF Gaston was fit (So he MUST be bad)
-
Well be fine. As long as Guly starts on the same side of midfield as Bale. And remembers his (alleged) Dead Leg technique. I have an easy solution in order to ensure FMDP & I enjoy the game. Extra Beer time first

Well, Shurlock wanted an input from a Jetsetter. I believed NA when he said he wanted 2 CB's. I believed he had the LB problem covered when we made that attempt to sign Buttner. I had faith during the window that we were sorting out the issue and Fox/Fonte/Jos would be reasonable cover (one at a time) What I now have is confusion as to why the hell we ended up ONLY signing Yoshida? I've said it before and will keep saying it. SOMEBODY has dropped NA in the sh1t. As for the 4-4-2 argument, we were NOT strictly playing that last season OR the year before more like a 4-4-half-half-1 with SRL dropping back so much and out wide, I posted the same and nobody said I was nuts. The PL is a 4-3-3 and variations of it League - Hell the reason we did (OK) under Hoddle was that he played 4-3-3. IMHO the MAIN reason it has not worked (up to 1st half Saturday) is that AL on the left does NOT get the time he had in the nPc to turn inside so we lose his effectiveness. AL needs to play right or in the hole as he did 1st half Saturday. What we DID do right Sat in 1st half was to play further up the field than we did (esp against Everton & Arsenal) There Shurlock HTH I'll be watching from up top in Chapel Sunday to see how wrong I am BTW -
I like my White Away Shirt. I will be wearing it Sunday HTH

I'm worried. I saw Snow Patrol in a gig here last winter and they was good. Does this mean I now have to take up running? I can't build a Wine Cellar (in case Sue comes through here in transit to somewhere that lets little old ladies with big thighs play football after they have retired), position my stools properly on the bedroom floor AND take up running all at once. What to do?

Rock Hudson. Really good going forwards. But a bit loose at the back -
I refuse to blame NA. He is making the best fist of the hand he has been given. The person facing the sack should be the person in charge of "Recruitment" who failed to bring in the players that WE ALL COULD SEE WE NEEDED IN THE SUMMER. I honestly don't believe NA had much (if any) say in that process. We needed a new defence with PL experience. Unless we find some out of contract players in the next week we could be relegated BEFORE we get the chance to buy defenders in January.
