  1. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?31861-Schniederlin-signs-new-contract Meanwhile, I still expect that Dickson will have a role to play this season. We have Harding Fox & Dickson fighting for 1 LB spot but ALSO fighting as cover for Lallana, who while not injury "prone" has missed a fair few games these past seasons.
  2. Perhaps more annoying for oppo fans would be "we're just passing through" "we won't be here next year, we're just passing through" Blimey did I just come up with a new song there? The start to this season really is causing weird stuff to happen
  3. Let's face it, we should not be surprised. After all only last summer we were advocating Rickie for the England spot (couldn't have been worse than Heskey in hindsight), so these teams have unexpectedly come across an England class CF backed up by half of the future England midfield in Cork & Lallana. Alternatively they have come across as Sir Rickie said - a PROPER team who have been together for a long time and play for each other. The manager's comments in the OP about their players not doing what they were told shows a typical (to Saints) lack of early season "Gelling" as well as preparation. Other teams will have had 3 games to bed in now, new players will know what is expected of them. BUT we still have a bunch of lads who play for fun, whilst seeming to be intelligent enough to learn. I joked about Rickie in the first line, but the fact is that he IS an all-round footballer, and a quality one at that. Add that to the indusrty of Cork, the control & brain of Connolly & Lallana, teams WILL wonder what hit them until they take those players out of the equation. Which means attacking us down the wings at pace in numbers and playing hoofball to put Martin or Seaborne under pressure. But it IS nice to read it!
  4. Meh. You know what they say about Chinese.... You have one, twenty minutes later you want another one.
  5. I remember the days when we seemed to struggle to score 9 goals in a season back in 02 03 & 04 we managed 43 44 and 45 goals all season (38 games) In 2000 we managed 40.. 86 last season in 46 games Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could really push on and aim for the magnificent 100 this year... Yeh right
  6. When Saturday Comes...... We'll see Still the good news for the few is they won't have to worry about stretching their benefits out to any more Carling Cup matches
  7. And our fans could have watched the game for the price of a couple of pints down the pub as it was on telly. Mind you Saturday's attendance will be interesting
  8. Yep http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/phone-hacking/8705731/Phone-hacking-letter-that-blows-apart-the-wall-of-silence-in-Wapping.html The smoking gun trail begins
  9. Just thinking back. Last year there had been some kind of row between NC & AP at the end of the 2009/10 season, we heard tales of pre-season not being up to the mark. Then go back further, so much turmoil, the Dutch experiment, Befuddled Burley We probably haven't actually had a settled pre-season for 5 or 6 years
  10. We got ignored or trampled on when we tried to make the point that our run in last season had created something special. Hell I posted a lengthy missive about the dynamics of a TEAM, and how important the mental side of football is, but oh no we had all the moaners and attention seeking lack of ambitions going on. Football is a game played by 11 players in a TEAM. It has never been about having 11 NAMES (poopey take note)
  11. Dear Snotrill. Please explain Quality over Quantity arguments again? Does that mean playing over the hill fading and didn't make it PL footballers just because you may have heard of them? Football is very easy - it is a TEAM game, not a name game
  12. Yup still got the silly grin. Watched the goals. Now both myself & Future Mrs D_P have got goosebumps. In the cold light of day this really is dreamland, 45 years of being a fan and we suddenly wake up and find that we are playing football of a style and nature that makes the opposition fans gasp, and have quality throughout our side. Makes a mockery of a certain small town club's Quality over Quantity mantra, Oh happy dayz...
  13. Looking forwards to hearing you singing that at Karaoke tomorrow night. I'll then translate it and relay the tune to the Songmeisters on here. Meanwhile, isn't football an amazingly simple game when you take away Ego's and Politics and bring in Continuity.
  14. That was a fecking disgrace tonight. Generally slow but then three times it became so slow that it caused my IE to time out & crash. I had to reboot at HT to get the commentary back, luckily stuck it up in reduced mode but this is now beyond a joke. So much for Cloud Computing. More like Clown Computing Won't be coming back on here matchdays until it gets properly sorted, will stick to Skyping & FB mates, simply because when it crashes I lose the Saints Player and THAT is boolix
  15. In a state of shock. I honestly do not think I have felt like this about Saints since the crazy days of Keegan. Cork sounds like the bargain of the Century, and we are still looking to improve. The old nagging doubt (being an old Saints fan) about Newly promoted bounce is there, but what seems to be the REAL difference with us is that we have some actual quality players out on the pitch, yes astonishing team ethos but then add in the quality of Connelly & Lallana. First time in 18 years that I truly wish I wasn't over here and was back watching us week in and week out. Even future Mrs D_P is finding it hard to cope with the screaming shouting yahooing around the home office her words "I can't get used to seeing you listening to Saints with a grin" Wish I'd put a tenner on NA becoming England manager eventually - Old 'Arry was right, he seems to have something. OK that's the gushing done. Now back to waiting for it to all go t1ts up. (Oh and lol at EricofArabia having to work tonight. His responses by txt - omfg, WTF and Yowzers)
  16. Only one thing for it. nearest thing to a Nun for the new season
  17. Ooh great build up & pressure then off the line... What we don't want to do now is to concede a second whispers Dave
  18. Ah ha, So we now know the wine of choice is a Merlot for Solent taters Looks like the Chardonnay days truly have passed....
  19. We need to capitalise on this start Dangerous lead 2-0 Gotta keep our foot on the throttle Desperate attempts to change the shape by Jewell Nope all the old cliche's don't work tonight COYS rip them a new one and make this League sit up and take notice
  20. PMSL - post of the year Nope nothing Trousers, just normal service resumed....
  21. Yep - Good job D_P decided NOT to go downstairs & score at that exact moment - lol
