  1. I don't know, trying to have an early dinner, sipping Chianti AND having to start threads... Greasy Surface Fonte slips & Vassell scores
  2. Team unchanged same bench COYS
  3. Unchanged Team late coming out
  4. Lol at reducing Mancs to hoofball and long range shots. Nice enjoyed that. Need a google meister to record the Stephens goal and post that up as a thread on it's own more fans deserve to see it
  5. Their keeper has made 3 blinding saves in last 5 mins but the super sub starts the move that leads to a 4th - our messiest goal of the game but showed good determination
  6. All it needs is a visionary Chairman to bring them in, starting with a Radio Station.... Oh. Bit of a soft goal to give away there boo
  7. It was 70 metres, c'mon listen to the Manc taters! And beat about 6 players after winning the ball in the tackle just outside his own box
  8. OK so tell me that won't be a contender for Goal of the Season.... Jack Stephens wow Has to be better than CMFG at Ipswich
  9. Wow another cracker from Ward Prowse great feet by Sinclair
  10. Interesting, this has caused some inbounds Skypes & PM's Ken Bruce apparently ran some business in Southampton and was alleged to be part of one of the groups of tyre kickers. So he finally got to make a bid for a club and then got knocked back because of the Big Sam link. Again, another comment was that the SISU bid really was rubbish BUT because of the divisions and the change at all costs of those days it really was taken seriously by some. About the only person who will have come out well from it was Dulieu. Not surprising there were allegations that the Execs of the time were on some kind of bonus deal if they got the deal approved. There but for the grace of God... The way they have hung around Coventry like a bad smell means we would have missed the window and circumstances that led NC & Marcus to our door. Poor old Coventry - how much have SISU cost them?
  11. Amazing, so comfortable on the ball, short passes into players in tight spaces no problem, good movement. The9 - hero status, us expats never have the chance to actually see the kids. We'd heard they were good, but this is (as Eric Says) really encouraging
  12. Wow cracking goal
  13. Is it just me but does look like we have quite a crowd there watching. Certainly about the same size as an average poopey home game
  14. Liking the look of Chambers & Stephens Sinclair on own up front support from midfield looks similar to first team in a 4-2-3-1 sort of shape
  15. cheers for that Like watching slow mo compared to first team But Stephens looks useful going forwards
  16. Shilts - stayed half or possibly one season too long. Ended up with the moaners having a go at him (as they always do) but he was the best England Keeper and he still had it when we signed him. Niemi - reliable, dependable if that ball had gone in at Fulham instead of hitting the bar would probably have beaten Shilts, and was guilty of having the thousand yard stare along with Claus in that game at Nottarf Krap Flowers - great keeper but had wobbly flappy days especially early on in his career Kelvin - can't fault him, plays to the absolute best of his ability every week, will hopefully become a Mr Southampton in the Franny mould (ie not the greatest but gave his all) So yep, Shilts
  17. Bit annoyed, had a chance to be back in UK this weekend but the darned UAE Government declared a 5 day Eid break for Public Sector last week (giving them NINE days off) and the price of flighhts trebled overnight. Grrr. Memories of going to Filbert Street many years ago, meeting a load of London Saints, watching Anders carve them a new one and singing "Like Watching Brazil" as we wallopped them 4-1. With the starts both teams have had we really should be able to repeat that, but then I've been a Saints fan for too long and deep down still expect normal service to be resumed at any moment, so have this one down as a 2-1 to Leicester. Having said that, IF we really keep going, the dancing round the office tonight listening to DM will be even Sweeter than the drive back to Heathrow after that Anders day.
  18. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/coventry-city/8726307/Coventry-City-takeover-bid-withdrawn-after-concerns-over-source-of-funding.html Found this article this morning. Seems that "strongly supported by some prominent names" SISU crew failed takeover has continued to cause amusement. After failing on their promises to the Coventry fans (apart from delaying the inevitable) they are now the centre of a dodgy & probably failed takeover bid. Seems Sam Allardyce was an owner of the company trying to buy them. On it's own wouldn't warant mention except for having a smirk when I saw the name of the Coventry Chairman who again seems to have been unable to secure a "proper" bid from "a non dodgy" consortium None over than Mr Suntan himself Ken Dulieu. Amusing points So while now with SISU only of interest to Saints as being a part of the journey to Marcus, it could have some ripples to unsettle both Coventry and WH. Anyway I smirked, poor old Ken he does pick losers to back.
  19. My youngest is in Washington Dc for a couple of weeks working on a project. He's had a hell of a first week. Earthquake & now a Hurricane passing by
  20. Another decent Nazi Zombie movie is Outpost. Low Budget, simple & scary without being too gruesome

Until the past few days there has been very little movement. Now we see Nasri & probably Modric moving for big bucks which will start to filter around. 'Arry gets 40 mil for Modric he'll start to throw that around as well (looks like WH may be pre-spending the Parker money for example). Quite a few players will become surplus or panic buys will set in. There is still the 25 man squad ruling in the PL which means Man Citeh must be planning to loan out about 250 world class footballers in the next week or so. Lescott's left footed isn't he?

Considering the size and quality of our backroom staff and Scouts, I'd be INCREDIBLY concerned with that list. Being so short. You can understand why we were so critical back in the ITK days of whispers about transfers. I bet we've looked at something like 30 or 40 players quite closely. Nobody has even mentioned Anton Ferdinand yet. luckily
  23. Bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee TSI 4L petrol from a mate that was leaving Dubai. It was a '98 model, first registered in '99 and a "Grey Import" that he had paid 120 grand for (about 20k GB). I paid him what he had been offered - 50 grand (about 10k) Down here obviously we have far less places to be able to drive to so the mileage it does is low but it gets it brakes checked & oil changed each year, it's had 2 lots of new tyres, and the electric locking is extremely random as to when it works or not. It's got 120,000 kms on the clock now. But it is now been with me 12 years and it still relaibly rumbles along, happily cruising at up to 100mph when possible and is still a damn comfy drive. At the time, being one year old it cost me the equivalent of a new Honda Accord. It could benefit from a respray but that don't affect it's rumbling. It doesn't hurtle round bends but then we don't have many "proper roads", it sits out side in the sun all summer with outdoor temps of 45C and the A/C is still perfect, even the rubber hasn't corroded like many motors do. Wonderful piece of machinery. Could NEVER have on anywhere else as it does between 10 & 12 mpg, but with petrol still only around 1-50 a gallon, it's perfect. Oh and of course it's Green, sure it does 12mpg BUT at least it has been built, saves buying a new one that would burn more of earth's precious resources.
  24. Mods... The forum topic is takeover saga. Bans and infractions can be issued for taking threads off topic. The amount of contradictory rubbish now being spouted by one person makes some of my convoluted posts seem comprehensible. Time to say good-bye he had comedy value, now he is deliberately trying to destroy this thread.

Not necessarily only "Financial Priudence" We have a happy squad, all signed on contracts that they are also happy with. That will be our great base to build on this season. Start bringing in outsiders to better the team they'll be happy. Start bringing outsiders in who are on Double The Money but "haven't proven their worth at THAT level yet" - recipe for dissent and disaster. The team will all be working together to earn PL level wages, bring in some "Johnny Come Lately" who's already on them - no thanks Never underestimate the Mental Side of football (and that includes other bankrupt (ish) clubs doubling our wage offers)
