What about his Misses? Speaking of which, Tiger was back on the prowl in the desert today, was nice of his manager Mark to come up to me and say "Hey D_P good to see you again. How did that whole football deal turn out? I still remember that even after a couple of years"... Had to lol a bit later on, I made a joke to the photographers - Oh, I see Tiger's back in form and the Daily Telegraph printed this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/picturegalleries/8313679/Tiger-Woods-at-Omega-Dubai-Desert-Classic.html?image=6 Hehehe - only D_P could have asked a "legend" like Tiger to try and buy us (way before Admin). At least the few could only have dissed us about our bedroom antics. Which reminds me, how's their deal going? You couldn't make it up.... Could you?

I'm with FC on this. I cannot believe that some on here don't believe that the '76 Cup Winners are Legends and yet Benali is. They all have been involved and were at the club recently. MLT is not a Legend to me, he is more than that, a Hero, and I count myself very lucky that I and a good number of other Dubai Saints managed to meet him last year. As I said at the time I spoke at length with him about the takeover and I know for a fact that he feels very badly let down for being turned into "Someone's PR B1tch" But, here's the rub. He has decided to take his gripe with NC into the media. I think that is a bad choice. It doesn't stop him being a Hero to me. The real issue though is very simple. In life and in business I have always maintained the same mantra - play it as it is, don't take the p1ss. My opinion is that if somebody was dissing me or my business off, was working behind the scenes to undermine my relationships with people, then, to be honest, I would not be pre-disposed to do that particular person ANY favours. In fact I'd probably do a Liverpool fax to their request. So. MLT is a hero. He has decided to be concerned about NC's reign and take those thoughts into the media - fine But, I'm sorry, Hero, Legend he may be, but to take one side and then ask for support/favours - no, that is IMHO taking the p1ss. I exclude Lawrie from the full force of that rant because he at least doesn't keep running to the press. For Frannie, no I'm sorry Nick Holmes was an equally committed servant of this club and yet he doesn't get anywhere near the "Hero worship" that Frannie gets. Mike Osman is a good entertainer making his way who does what any Professional Entertainer would do - look for events that aid his day to day business. He though should also be careful not to be seen to take sides

Cortese clarifies the current position (Daily Telegraph)
dubai_phil replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Oh NOOOOO NC in "Saints have no chance of getting to the PL before 2014" shock. Yes folks, here it is, the last sentence in the article There is NO REASON WHY IT SHOULD HAPPEN EARLIER So that's it then, no plan or attempt to go up in ur first season (insh'allah) in the NPC next year Don't you love being a part time Journo! -
If I were you, I'd PM EricofArabia and just check whether he intends to attend either of those two games. He's holding about a 100% FAIL record the past few seasons

Apart from allegedly not paying back his debts that is. Ah Happy Days. Tiger looks really good, seems to have lost some of his muscle bulk. Gonna be a big couple of days, Woods, W******d & Kaymer all playing together on Thursday & Friday. What was it I said earlier? You couldn't make this up? The next fourm match after party just cannot come quickly enough

Might explain the Austin/CMS rumours not happening then -
To be fair, there was an unholy row with lots of very nasty mud slinging some time ago regarding expenses and an event. In the current version of the forum many of the accusations would have been deemed highly libellous, although I have not seen any reports of any legal action actually having been taken However the question was asked earlier in the thread and without taking any sides, there is an easy way to refute and stop any more of these (unpleasant) "people receive expenses for attending" snipes which would be for the accounts of the event to be published. That would at least stop some of the potential petti/nastiness

Hehehe... Can't resist this one So we drop back to the ManUre Post Game reaction thread and see that (some) were up in arms about N'Guessan for his cameo And then in the very next game? He is a close run candidate on Solent for MoM setting up a goal etc using his pace and build etc etc etc Deja Vu again

Completely possible, hence why I included the comment in trying to look at every possible UNSTATED reason Just re-visit the many page son here about Jason Puncheon. The consensus was that he had an Attitude problem that Club Management could not cure. Surely any football fan must have worked out by now that a TEAM relies on a dynamic between the players & staff called Morale. I offered the possibility (IN THE ABSENCE OF ANY FACTS AGAIN) that the club COULD have also been concerned at some of our top players having their ears bent all evening by people who could be slagging off their Boss, or the training staff. FFS someone out there has been slagging off Les Reed (on here). Is it really worth the risk to our season that they could be exposed to disharmony?

Oh goodie. Let's face it, if it wasn't for the moaning minnies we'd have nothing to talk about. So, my take on it - a local celebrity and do-gooder organises a charity event. He wants some players to come. OK, but according to the article he invited players & manager. Now, I would hazzard a guess that at most Football clubs, players are contracted and have an Image Rights Value, meaning that IF you wish to invite them to attend any sort of event there would be a process that you have to follow. After all, although a Charity event, the appearance of players is still what would be termed "An Endorsement" and is designed to gain more media coverage and more money being raised. My guess is that you would likely have to approach the CLUB with a request (probably the Commercial Depratment) to explain the event, the benefit to the club OR the charity and would in most cases be given the club's support to invite the players. (I would expect it to be a little different with say player appearances at say a Player Testimonial Event) Someone in the Club would have to ensure that it is a valid event, does not contravene any internal contracts or agreements or endorsements and then gives their blessing. After all, if something went wrong, the club would get it in the neck. Not to mention for example Liverpool players being invited to a Chairty event that (for eg) was to benefit something to do with The Sun newspaper. Due processs has to be followed. The article states that Osman invited the players. The club refused. So, once again, a shortage of FACTS. Did he follow process? Did he give the club the right reasons? If he DID contact the club, perhaps some inside the club thought that it would be a BAD thing from a Team Morale perspective to allow players to spend an entire evening amongst people who are extremely negative to the club. Shame they cannot go and mix with our legends, and help out worthwhile charities, but sorry Mike, Franny & MLT you are starting to look REALLY stupid. There has been a line used since forever - You reap what you sow. So STFU Oh, and my guess? He thought he was such a big celebrity and it was such an important event he didn't have to bother asking the club first

American Football: Why so many breaks?!
dubai_phil replied to Saintandy666's topic in General Sports
So you can order more beer. WTF is wrong with that as a sporting concept? Seriously! Donkeys years ago I got invited to the first pre season game held at Wembley - Vikings v Cardinals. I was in Corporate. We had a 5 or 6 course meal, got absolutely shredded on plonk with all the attendant running to the loo. Didn't miss a second of action. Marvellous. If only I could remember what happened in the game. I know I went, I still have the Programme, the menu & a photo. Which is how sport should be watched (unless it's Saints) IMHO -
I've got a busy week coming up as you all by now know. According to the Mail I've gotta go find some dishdash to buy our club, Tiger has an appointment booked for his "how to meet nice girls" counselling session with me and then I have to now go and find a therapist. Because this little old bit today has just been right up there in the you couldn't make it up category. Please no, surely not again, I just can't take it any more, haven't stopped laughing all day.

Rickie Lambert - League One Top Scorer Again?
dubai_phil replied to georgeweahscousin's topic in The Saints
Must have a word with FIFA and get them to recheck all those Golden Boot awards. I assume they no longer count towards the result then? Hell L1 leading scorer 2 seasons in a row is in his grasp. I ain't gonna tell him not to make any effort 'cos some Saints fans don't reckon he deserves it 'cos he cheated. The thread is Leading Scorer The penalty debate is for a different thread - who is best striker - very different questions -
From memory in the Echo back when they were linked to Bompey, they are linked to some Moscow Ice Hockey Team and had a sponsorship involvement with Renault in F1 this year I believe. HTH

Arabs. A race covering a Geographic area well in excess of the EU stemming from The Atlantic to the Indian Oceans, with many differing tribal, culturual, geo-political and financial circumstances. You sound like if you're a small company you were taken over by a dodgy geezer, or if a bigger operation sucked up by the Dubai World Domination mess. If it's the latter then my sympathies as you really are screwed, and you're really not alone in the world. FWIW, there would be some ME based investors down this way which COULD be beneficial to the club, the Qataris for one. (Not a wealth fund or individual) but something like the Qatar Foundation or the Aspire Academy. QF pumped $150mil or there abouts into sponsoring Barcelona, AA are building a global network of Sporting Excellence training facilities for youngsters. That is one piece of our operation that could make a a big difference - continuing to have real money behind the club but also having zillions put into to a global network of Academy type structures picking up the future Drogba's & Torres's from around the world. Nice idea, won't happen though Let's face it, Saints aren't going to be bought for use as a Branding Exercise to promote tourism & an Airline ala Man Citeh

I like Heinz Tomato Soup out of all the canned versions from time to time. I really enjoy Goulash Soup when in Germany or especially the old days when skiing in Austria Borscht in either it's Russian or Polish Versions And home made Stilton & Broccoli But a REALLY good French Onion Soup? I love it, but friends aren't so keen about 3 or 4 hours later

True, Chelsea will need strengthening in the summer. That would be nice Punch goes for 10mil - him being English and having scored a goal in the PL and all that
-
Abu Dhabi - they give you branding. Nice HSBC logos on Cutter & Buck shirts, nice Caps (got mine signed by Leftie) Dubai's broke so we get a skanky baseball cap & have to wear our own gear. Gonna be an all Red Sunday with tiger Lee & Karlsson. Nice to "sea" the Mail comment about the waterfront. I'm still not sure which is funnier, that article or some thinking Rupert is still the Dark Lord
-
That figure would allow then to afford 9 x Lloyd James's in their team. In fact it would probably have been about 3 Rasiaks And they haven't got enough players to fill out a subs bench hahahahahaha
-
Matters not. I'm sure that the player contracts pre & post Admin will still have Image Rights in them, so even if they cannot come after the old stuff there is still most of this season's payments

Top Gear presenters in legal firing line over anti-Mexican comments
dubai_phil replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Just a couple of thoughts, not having seen any TG since the Tom Cruise Cameron Diaz episode. Why are there not regular threads or comments on the other TV based Motoring Shows? I know Tiff Needal (sp?) still does one, but strangely it doesn't seem to be on any of the satellite channels over this way. Clarkson's provocative attitude while being childish in relation to humour is actually a really important attribute of the show. Big Business is about image and about marketing & branding. While calling BMW drivers nasty things may upset some of the keyboard warriors on here protective of their shiny toys in the garage, he DOES blast right through the "old fashioned" sucking up to the manufacturers of the past. Sure it is now dated, but then it's been the highest watched BBC TV show WORLD WIDE for some 5 or 6 years now. Helps keep the licence fee down by earning so much. (Oh forgot, you don't like people making money to subsidise your taxes) OK burn the witch
