Hmm let's think, didn't we do that before. Exciting Prospect with Pace and swapped him for Twenty Pieces of Silver & a Goalkeeper from a North London based PL team... As people keep putting on the bottom of emails "The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same things and hoping for a different result"

It may not be a Derby per se, but it is one of the biggest matches in the world and everything surrounding it has all the hallmarks of a derby & that is Real v Barca (or vice versa) probably fair to say it is bigger than any Derby match if you are in the Stadium

For the Conspiracy Theorists About a year ago there was unrest in Iran driven by Twitter & FB. Many arrests and executions. One man protests in Tunisia by setting himself alight and most ME Governments are under threat or have had revolutions. Who were the Tweeters & FB group creators? A Greater Arab Islamic Republic really SHOULD be causing you lot sleepless nights, a new Superpower technically with Pakistan included holding Nukes. Not saying that the Iranians pulled all the strings BUT it is the reason that the West HAVE to tread carefully in their responses. Egypt will be the one to watch, the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in the new constitution will be critical. Interesting that in Bahrain there appears to have been an internal Family struggle for power with the Uncle (PM) calling the crack down & now the King & Crown Prince opening dialogue, That one was always different from North Africa & The Levant

UAE - no way. The Emiratis love their rulers. Bahrain was an exception because of the Religious divisions. Kuwait has been experimenting with elected councils for a while but they have one of the highest per capita incomes in the world why would they want to change completely. Oman, well they have to sort something out as the Sultan has no heir so the Monarchy/Sultanate will fall without a Crown prince. Will they go for a democracy? Hell they sleep all day. Here? they don't have the divisions, the "Monarchy" tries to be benevolent and really unlikely. The Ex pat Asian labourers could kick up a stink but they'd just bundle them on planes home. Saudi? Hmm - be worried. The country does have religious & tribal splits. The Industry & Trade is in the West but ALL the oil is in the East and that is where they have a demographic issue, not to mention the Al Qaeda supporters & the nutters on the borders with Yemen. However they control half the worlds oil. They have a problem, their Security Machine is already oppressive and ain't nobody in the Western Governments gonna want another 3 day week and power cuts for the rest of your winter. BUT it COULD kick off there and then the world COULD go to rat sh1t

And with reports this evening that some Military Units are refusing to carry out orders to shoot civilians or even some defections, that could have been the catalyst to mark his downfall. Still, the global Liquidity Crisis should end now.... All that stolen wealth (Jewels & cash they found in the Palace in Tunisia, Mubarak's billions and the rest... The real one to watch will be Iran, now if THEY can kick out the loonies the world may really change for the good, BUT if the loonies stay in power and can pull the strings in the Maghreb then the word will be oh sh1t

The Greater Arab People's Republic, stretching from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean, an Islamic Super State. Could happen. It could also cause a lot more problems in UK than not getting fresh flowers in the shops Equally after all the years of Labour & now the cut backs, could happen in UK & EU. Capitalism & Communism are great systems if you are in them

Will we get expenses if we are invited to eulogise about Rallyboy at the award dinner? If so I need some airmiles, I'm in

The Other Guys Had a cracking cast, wanted to be a sort of modern Stupid (ie funny) Movie. Had some ridiculous moments in it that should have been really funny, like Will Ferrell being a total babe magnet superstud & Mark Wahlberg getting ignored all the time, but somehow it was simply kr@p. Best line Where the hell did you learn to drive like that? "Grand Theft Auto?" But by then the whole Hobo ****fest, and 120,000 other Prius car jokes had worn thin So yeah, it rates a 2/10 - it got that much 'cos I don't think I'll see another comedy that COULD have been so daft turn out so bad. Maybe, just maybe if I'd been completely bladdered & with mates it would have been hysterical, I wasn't, it wasn't

OK so I've googled and searched and cannot find the article. But the context that FF & Ron have given by their comments makes me stop and think. Lawrie made a comment to the Echo questioning the sacking of AP. But, for the life of me I cannot find any other actual named links "showing him positioned on the Dark Side". I would welcome any better Googlers who can find something. So, judging by the "reported tone" it seems LM annoyed NC by sticking his oar in to the AP debate. But, and from what I can see it is a BIG But, he doesn't have appeared to have sided with the MLT side in this or even with the Dark Side. I can't find any snipes per se. I can find some he wouldn't have done things that way type comments but I think that we may be getting a bit simplistic here. My reading of the comments from FF & Ron are of someone who has suddenly realised he is being tarred (by association) with the wrong side in what appears to be an ongoing argument (see libellous claims thread) and has made h is position clear. In that case fair enough. I think I would personally try and kill NC if I was ever with him for more than 5 minutes in a meeting, but he wants what I want - success for my club so I cut him some slack as long as he delivers. Football is about WINNING, you get nothing for being nice. So I think we need to stop lumping MLT & LM together as being the Leaders in our "anti NC" brigade. I think LM has a different angle. However I reserve the right to change my assumptions IF the Echo post the interview/article in full or I get back and read it

Hmm 15 points from a playoff place and - 6 on goal difference. How many games left to go and how is the current points per game average looking?

Reminds me of an immortal line from a old foggy game at The Dell.. Can't see us winning this

Dinner was fantastic, it's been getting quite cold down here this week - got down to 14C the other day. Sipping some (cheap) New Zealand Chardonnay but will probably go back onto Magners if the game stays like this. Can't believe the forum hasn't crashed yet
-
Reading that link to their forum earlier they aren't best pleased their pitch is being used for Rugby and also commented that it had cut up badly last weekend, so a badly cut up quagmire of a pitch - maybe there's a blessing in there somewhere. Not for the fans who'd already gone up that way and people like Eric with noone to cook for and only OSH for company
-
Yep which is why I haven't commented BUT in defence, it IS possible to comment on FF (& WS's) comments about the article as they have made those interpreations. But that's being a bit Pendantic to say the least.

Lol yeah, it was a nicely hacked up piece of bird. The local corner shop obviously over ordered on Xmas Turkeys and have been chopping them up into managable lumps and filling a corner of the freezer. Tried to roast one about 4 weeks ago it was yuk, but dinner for 3 for less than two quid, more for this week's beer kitty! I actually was Sooo bored I boned it first and then boiled the bones & some veggies up to make the stock for the Casserole. How fecking sad is THAT

Not all of us can read the whole article until someone mails it to us.

Cooking a Turkey Casserole (1.80 for a 1kg leg bit on special this week) to be served with a Parsnip & Carrot Puree. Yep I was so bored I went and dug out a cook book4 different satellite providers down here. One has PL, one has FA Cup, one has Cricket World Cup & mine has Aviva Premiership Rugby. Grumble grumble grumble

Let's just hope we don't have to go through the playoffs...

Meh. Emirates fly twice a day into Manchester & can crash at EoA's pad for the night should it be necessary. But it won't. -
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/8333631/Lapland-theme-park-brothers-guilty-of-dishonesty.html OK, so come on, who forked out their 30 quids for tickets? Any of you going to use a Lawyer now they're likely to get banged up?

I get confused all this talk of AV and Cables makes me want to USB

Football Club ownership. Mergers & Acquisitions. Bankers & Bonuses. Smoke & Mirrors. Who can really tell what reality is in these weird and specialist fields. There is some history here if we could work out what it all means. Ruskies look at Bompey at the beginning of the season their Echo went into melt down with leak and counter leak. Eddie waved them away - no money troubles rolling in it (then try to palm his manager off on us and sell his best players again, not mention selling tickets for our game ten years in advance) The Russkies then went and played Scaletrix for a while then re-appear on the scene with a public bid for Poopey. But why after the Jan Window? Surely an interested buyer with money wasn't looking to get the price down, and even the few are realising they need players if they are to stay up. Eddie then seen desperately trying to flog a few expensive Hostility tickets for a match in 4 weeks time. And especially if we then add in Newspaper claims denials and a sudden resurgence of the dark side at our end Somewhere in all of that is an answer, damned if I know what it is. Unless MLT & Co are considering buying Poopey and renaming them St Mary's football Club moving them & demolishing the flats between Archers & Milton Roads

Ticket Prices - The Future? CL Final at Wembley
dubai_phil replied to dubai_phil's topic in General Sports
Yeah but as the article says the CHEAPEST tickets for fans are 80 quid and it doesn't say how many of those will be available. Looks like the only fans that would go if an English club get through would be Bankers and Middle Management Council workers. -
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/champions-league/8331998/Uefa-accused-of-exploiting-fans-over-outrageous-ticket-prices-for-Champions-League-final-at-Wembley.html Wow, considering the rows we have had regarding the ticket tax - nice to see UEFA are getting in on the act - 26 quid TICKET TAX. That's the cost of a match ticket FFS. Obviously we all want to get back into the PL and move forwards hopefully into the CL, but if prices have doubled in 2 years and now cost a neutral 176 Quid for a football match, what will they be like in 3 or 4 years time? Greedy stinking rip off merchants at the top of football "non-leadership: pyramid IMHO
