hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Dear Lord, now we KNOW they really are thick down there. Some points. Dubai inc is currently bankrupt. Not only are there "headline" debt rescheduling talks ongoing at the moment, but under the radar, not only are the banks not getting paid for the loans, the TRADE creditors are not getting paid. That effectively doubles the headline figure for the indebtedness of Dubai Inc. With the naming rights to the Sewing Needle having been ceded to Abu Dhabi while they try to hold on to ownership of their flagship brands of Emirates and Jumeira Hotels group, the very idea that his Excellency would be able to dig into his "presonal wealth" to stump up some 40million + pounds is ludicrous. One other important "Investment Criteria" that the varying Dubai Inc operations hold is this phrase. "What is the value add to the future generations of our country"? Sure, with the negative press these days, perhaps people other there are beginning to believe some of it and that He really has lost his marbles and wishes to be seen as a laughing stock> Think you'll find their answer will be that they have a big enough commitment to English Football "thank you very much" - The Emirates Stadium is one part and all those World Cup Packages they are trying to sell you lot from Emirates WC sponsorship. Still, if they want an introduction, it's easy to arrange

Agree. If we lose Lambert we have to change our whole style of play. Also, with Lallana playing we get regularly exposed down our left flank often leaving Harding with nobody between him and the opposition corner flag. We are close, but may have too much to do this season to make up the gap.
-
Still, at least the skate forum would never be able to have a match..... They'd never be able to find 34 fans to take part, let alone the magnificent photgraphers and spectators. In fact, didn't we have more there than for their cup game? Memory dims. Must be time to start training and planning the rematch, although not sure if nickh will be out of therapy in time

Having had many years of experience working for "CEO's with an "Edge", this thread makes me happy, BUT it also scares the willies out of me. Nobody gets to the top in life by being nice. Sure you can hang around a while and enjoy yourself, but nice guys don't get to the top. You simply have to be able to fight deep and dirty along the way. That Cortese has that is good news, our club needed a hell of a kick up the backside as did everyone who worked in it. 6 years of under-achieving across the board. Sure some nice people got hurt and some stayed, but the club IS moving forwards. The WORRY is that these people "with that edge" will have drive, passion and vision. They will push that into every pore of the body corporate in order to achieve change. What very often happens in these situations is that circumstances, competition, the economy or just bad timing can lead to a period when feedback needs to be given by the workforce and the CEO needs to LISTEN, take the new circumstances on board and make adjustments to the course. Many people have that edge, most of us will have come across them in our lives and known they were complete assholes, There are VERY few people in business who can match that edge with WISDOM and who can react to unforeseen circumstances. hell most of your banking CEO's fit the description pretty well. Now, my worry is that some of these STORIES start to indicate the edge but also an ego. Things are great today and we NEED this now, but if we hit some heavy weather, we have seen what unbelievable damage an ego can do to a football club. We don't need a nice guy right now and neither does Markus. But I hope he also has the ability to listen, after all his business plan needs to have reviews based on regular observation

Good news. But two sigings of around 1mil pushed through nice and early in the window, leaves me hoping agents don't start messing with the heads of Lallana or Morgan. We sure don't want or need to sell but the magical agent's words - "you're only one bad tackle from a life on the dole" can undo a great deal of other positive news. Let's see if things really are moving the right way for us on the good news front, as these signings at this time could really push us on. Now we just need cover for Lambo and Murty & we may just start to push on again

With kids as thick as this one in Skatesmouth, is there ANY point in wasting all that money and having schools in the first place? Perhaps he would have been safer at school http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1241684/Prancing-ice-The-pictures-stupidity-boy-stomping-way-frozen-lake.html

Interesting, if the rumours of the value are correct, then to date this is the biggest transfer deal of the January Window in English Football. Neil Collins Wolves to Preston for 750k may technically beat it. 25,000 pounds for Chris Zebroski is the biggest deal in L1 so far. Puts things into context http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfers/5494052/Transfers-League-One-January-2010.html
-
It was the lead item on the news. He doesn't see it as a step backwards, but rather sees it as a fast way to get to play in the PL...

Fonte link to a famous player who is also due to sign? Feck me we're signing MICHAEL ESSIEN???
-
Hmm. African Nations may have a problem after what happened to the Togo team. Maybe the skates will get a bit of luck on the back of the misfortune of others? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/6954198/Emmanuel-Adebayor-Togo-players-may-quit-after-Angola-gun-attack.html Really not a good story

You couldn't make it up could you What a mess

Would have gone straight into the delete box but then I saw the very first clip. Good ole' Skates! And some of the rest is a lolage as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcfSRJCmPa8&feature=player_embedded#

Although, to be fair, the ONLY reason ML can really do this is because the cost of the stadium build has now been taken away from us. Cardiff have this problem due in part to the stadium. Perhaps they could have ground shared with the egg chasers but chose not to. Does Cardiff REALLY need 3 stadiums? Moving your local club into the 21st Century is as dangerous as being Portsmouth. Neoither model is sustainable while all the money in football goes to players and agents
-
So you wouldn't think that if Palace need say 1mil in a hurry and a player wanted 250k a year extra in his wage packets to leave that a deal to give him an extra portion of an inflated fee in lieu couldn't be worked out by a dodgy agent? Not saying it IS the case, but it could be a possibility
-
Oh yea of little faith. meanwhile have to go count some chickens in the egg box in the fridge:)
-
They will, they have a nipper interesting Arsenal/Liverpool etc in the 4mil price range, was an article last week about it but darned if I can remember where
-
FWIW I do think this one may have legs, simply as Palace have problems. While he may not have wanted to drop a division, the need for fire sales can sometimes mean the selling club tend to be able to add extra incentives.
-
I wonder if there is a common theme emerging. Peter Risdale Leeds, Barnsley nearly, Cardiff. They'll be fine for a while they still have some good academy players left to be pillaged
-
I remember the days when we all KNEW we needed to sign centre backs and we only signed Midfielders. Nice to see building from the back for a change
-
The MF rumour perhaps?

Ah, FINALLY, the perfect thread. So experts, anyone got any ideas how I can kill a dog without leaving any traces of whodunit? Next door **** (note not neighbour, next door ****) has a dog. It is untrained. When they leave the house the dog barks. Not in a dog barking way but in an insane and demented manner. They leave it in their walled garden. It dementedly barks for 6 hours at a time all day every day. When it's the weekend I can't even watch DVD's it's so loud. It doesn't build up to a bark it just GOES. The ploice have been called around 10 times now by the varying neighbours, unfortunately there is no law here about such things. People like the **** are the ones who have made me come to hate dogs. They have no interest in training them, they have no understanding that they impact into other people's lives (I DON'T WANT SOME FECKING FLEA RIDDEN MUD & CRAP COVERED ANIMAL JUMPING ONTO MY LEGS WHEN WALKING TO THE PAPER SHOP FFS) and yet people like the **** who call themselves DOG owners go "oh look it likes you". Feck off it doesn't like me it has a deathwish as I will kill it - it simply wants to get away from it's arrogant a**hole of an owner. You want a dog, great have a dog, but DON'T invade my space with the thing. Would it be cute and funny if I got a python or a black mamba and let it invade YOUR space? say your bedroom? No it would not, so take your fecking personality extension and shove it up your a**e. Oh, and you thought it was FUNNY how your dog burst into my house, crapped on my carpet AND ate my kids pet rabbit while they screamed? You called the POLICE because I hit it with a spade? Feck you should have hit YOU with the feckin spade. Rant over, thanks feel better now As you can tell, I have nothing against dogs, just their owners
