Hmm now there's an idea, just once, maybe a one off final goodbye (circinfo.com) Marcus Trescothick Yes I know about his problems but his coach is Justin Langer. I wonder if he'll get at least a call for a one off, big bag of worms but heck which gives a more sensible lineup of Trescothick Strauss Cook Ramprakash Collingwood Prior Flintoff (If unfit then would give Bopara a go down the order where he SHOULD have been batting from the start) Broad Swann Anderson Sidebottom IF Anderson is unfit then Adil Rashid could get a game in a gamble. IF Flintoff AND Anderson are unfit then they have to put Onions in who is our most accurate bowler, but would play the extra batsman Shame Dimi doesn't have an extra 8mph of regular pace -
Here's a radical idea. We have the same thread every few weeks during the season, so the discussions don't change anything. Yet there are as has been noted lots of fans who feel almost embarrassed to sing in the Chapel & Kingsland, and the Yoof in the Northam don't have the intellect to manage more than one song. So all it needs is 30 or so songsmiths to park themselves in the Chapel/Kingsland as close to the corner as they can get and let rip. The Dell for many years was all Milton, but gradually spread, it took only about 10 or 15 to get Under West Stand going and the same then applied to the Archers. Staying in the comfort zone ain't working, sure the away fans help but if you want to get the GROUND going then manipulate the passives up the Chapel end, hell, they might even join in!

Lol this reminds me of Gordon Gecko & Wall Street........ Show me the money! Which is also a co-incidence As they've been filming Wall Street 2 down here with GG doing dodgy dealing......

Strauss Cook Key Prior Collingwood Bopara Broad Swann Sidebottom Anderson if fit Onions Trouble is putting newcomers in without experience, the choice of Shah Key Bell have mental issues Trott Carberry are untried at this level Tough, but don't worry they'll screw it up -
Think Botham called it right Batting order for the Oval 1 Strauss 2 Cook 3 Prior 4 Broad 5 Swann 6 Panesar Anyone else you can think of out of Harmison, Onions, Sidebottom etc Well looking at the averages ain't far off

Hmmm Suddenly a whole bunch of Scottish talent appears on our radar, yet our scouting system had been destroyed...... Wonder who may have tipped us off on that one? winky smiley happy thingy:-)

Think MS will be really useful once we have a properly set up midfield - one with Left sided players in the left and right sided players on the right. haven't had that for about 3 years of course! Also he WILL be inconsistent this season. He's ONLY 18 FFS, at any other club he'd still be getting experience from the bench before getting loaned out NEXT year for experience! (Another great Rupes plan) Which, at the end of the day will be the problem with the other youngsters - how many CONSISTENT games they can produce. If it was me I would be planning on 20-25 decent games from Gillett, Lallana, MS and James with them covering each other's positions. The other youngsters should give us 10/15 good appearnces in a season, so would be cover for the older heads like Holmes and the ones we need to bring in. (which is sort of what I would expect Surman to get at Wolves) If we're planning for next season to really be ready to push for promotion then I'd have a fiver on this being the basic strategy. Also the same applies to Patterson, no way we can expect a youngster to last 40 odd games at this level at his age, think he'll be very useful for us but needs a break now and then

That's an obvious & fair point and one that can easily be covered with PR and actions, a simple riposte is also - never saw any pressure for Wise to be brought back to the training ground at Newcastle  But there are a lot of functions, skill sets and knowledge that need to be rebuilt, which could be done as a "part time job", AP COULD do it, but which would take focus and time away from management of the First Team. Should AP sit on the Board and talk strategy or should he REPORT to the Board? If he reports then at this point in time I would argue that somebody should in the short term be teaching the Board about the intricacies and poitics of football! Somebody advising the board on football, rules, regs, politics, doing the smoozing with Fergie, Jose etc so we get their loans in. All COULD be done, clear description and statement of intent, WGS is in the press each week having fun in golf tournaments with MLT, and letting it be known he's takeing a break to solve his slice (oops he did that already) while learning Spanish and waiting for a chance at Real or Barca... -
I thought only Asylum seekers got council houses these days. So we're saying Millwall fans were some sort of weird Al Qaeda offshoot or is there some sort of non-PC undercurrent on here this morning?

I would like to thank the England batsmen for allowing me valuable time to sit down and do some work on my laptop today. Absolutely no point in bothering to waste electricity by turning the telly on, except too say at least we have one world class record holding batsman - Jimmy Anderson scored again. Hell he scores more reliably than Irish Steve in Rock Bottoms. What an almighty mess we're now in, where the heck can the selectors go now. 5 new batsmen for the Oval? And goodbye Harmi

Absolutely agree Hypo. Last year we even got one of the backroom staff releasing those Opta Stats type things trying to disprove what many of us could clearly see. Was MS an idiot to play that long ball that led to the penalty or was his mental stamina and thought process less than 100% sharp as he was feeling the pace. Many of us picked up last season about the fact that JP concentrated on "Ball Work" in pre-season and AP commented about fading in the last 20 minutes - how many games last season did both our forwards finish 90 minutes compared to under Strachan? Really think this will be the big deciding factor, we get them fit and get a few in, could be in for a ver big surprise this year

When oh when will Brit based businessmen learn that to deal with the guys down here you need a different approach and mindset.... A 7-day deadline to a UAE National, oh dear oh dear.... As I posted a few days back, Rule 1.5 is to understand that you never get paid down here unless you have something else they want. Rule 1.6 is that you always defer to THEM, never instruct them (Rule 1 isn't allowed of course as they have different thought processses to ours!) So. How often do miracles actually happen in one year? There's been one in Hampshire already, two if you include the FP final result. The chances of a third? Not gloating, just convinced from the very first announcement that this was never going to fly Oh, and again, just to record for the record (again) there is a VERY funny story which can be told once it all goes Burkas up. Might help explain why (eventually) I will feel sorry for the Skates, but OH how we'll laugh

Couple of their ST holders sure did! lol Ain't hindsight, even for one day, a wonderful thing

Now this got some stick, but worth re-visiting with a bit more thought. DOF is a contentious title as we've seen, but looking more closely at the Board Room, we currently have Dave Jones Nicola Cortese Andrew Oldknow Now the board is the link between the management of the club and the ownership, and it has a darned big black hole in it in terms of experience and knowledge. So there could actually be a highly NON-contentious position of non-Exec Director or Technical Director - ie somebody to help TEACH the new guys at the top the ropes and to let AP get on with what he needs to do with the playing side. It could be done and could be part-time. Which may suit WGS for a year or two. Like everything else in life, the secret won't be in the job title it wil be in the job description, and I would bet my alimony on AP having been heavily involved in building the structures and description -
For me the biggest positive were the comments AP made at the end of the OS article http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1747758,00.html where he says we have to get stronger and FITTER. It has been a bugbear of mine for ages from listening and watching and reading that our teams have really not been FIT enough for a while now. Lots of science and stats were offered in defence but as was seen yesterday, too many ran out of steam. AP mentioned it when he arrived, he said they were heavy legged for QPR because of the extra work, and mentioned it again yesterday... Nice guys though the old coaching staff may well have been, while it could be used as a pretty damming indictmentor WTF were they doing argument, I am just REALLY pleased that it has been noticed and that it is being dealt with. Players fit enough to compete for a change and some additions to the squad coming... hell a very positive start

You want a big man up front I want a fit chick with big bazookas on top......:-) Which is another way of saying, yes, that's obvious, but the PROBLEM comes with actually finding one! I was actually thinking yesterday, where or who are the "wise old heads" or big lumps that CDAJFU. With our youngsters, lumpness is one thing, but as we keep hearing in the moans about Wotton, old heads need legs and a footballing brain. There aren't any gnarled old Martin Keon's around these days, looking back at the old England squads to '98, not many of them apart from a Gary Neville around, only one I could WORRYINGLY think of was Robbie Savage (and he's Welsh and a ***). Which leaves us hoping our big signing is Steve Howard...... Nice concept, but any ideas? (Footballers not chicks!)
