I'm honestly chilled. But would you bring back JPS? TBF if someone asked me to make a decision I would pass the buck to an expert:p However personally and opinion wise I would let BWP & Euell go I am a firm believer that you build from the back and that next season a back 5 of KD, James, JPS, Perry & Mills would be a good backbone to start from, and the DMG playing off a big lump CF up front would actually do the business

Thanks I made no secret of the fact I was trying to help. I tried to point out many times that the perception of MJ that we hold was one thing but that he may have had a certain set of skills that were needed in a "consortium" situation. IF I am lucky then a few people will have noticed that I have been a small cog in a very big wheel, but that mean NOTHING, there are other people who have worked like demented idiots for a long time at their own cost and with no "agreements" and no wish to give up their "real lives", and many of them are not even fans, just they felt we were worth saving I know it is not "PC" on here but a bunch of fans did TRY to actually get up off their collective asses and try and save the club, OF COURSE we had no RIGHT to think we should be able to do it. Of COURSE we FELT that we should leave it to the professionals. BUT, do you have ANY idea how WE felt in the last few weeks when there did not seem to be anyone else out there? How many times did I ask "where is the cavalry". But of course, everyone on here saw the MJ initials and made their minds up (TBF I would have joined you). But it was NEVER about MJ, Stuart Green has done an amazing amount of work behind the scenes this last few years to try and sort out the mess we were in, but this forum and many others saw MJ the proven clown. So as that seems to have been achieved, tonight we are as happy as anyone else on here. Jacko was a fool to most of us on here, but if he hadn't kept fighting, maybe Tony & MLT would not have had the time to learn the lessons to be able to get past the finishing line today I HAVE A FOOTBALL TEAM TO SUPPORT NEXT SEASON. Thank F*CK for that is all I have EVER been interested in. MLT knows what has gone on in the past weeks and I know he'll never go into details either. For Tony and his team I have but one word RESPECT, the internet warriors on here will never know the horrors he has gone through to reach this point, and that is how it must be

Yes, I have all the facts. I am fully aware that I have been incredibly lucky in my life to have been able to live in a crazy town like Dubai for many years. But that luck has been partly of my own making and has brought me into contact with people from many walks of life in many different fields. My only "fair" response would be to ask around your friends - that whole 6 steps removed thing - I was amazed to find our I knew someone who had dealings with Fry. I posted that 3 weeks ago and gave all the proper caveats so I stick with my opinion. I also think that others may share it, but that may simply be me being a little arrogant, but I doubt it. Ask around

Is SMS built on an ancient burial ground ...
dubai_phil replied to Beer Engine's topic in The Saints
I vaguely recall (through the mists of a large Johnnie Walker) that there was some discussion on here about the White Witch and what happened afterwards. Wasn't it mentioned that there was some problem with the club not acknowledging her or even maybe not paying her taxi fare and she undid her work? Now, with many years experience in multinational corparations behind me, I would be the last one to blame our demise on anything other than bad decision making, but I have learnt in that time that a positive attitude and karma do have a part to play. I have long been an advocate of welcoming the White Witch back to SMS and using ANY tools to improve the mental state of our players -
So, we have new people coming in to look at the books They will have firm plans of what our cost structure must be in League 1 So, one of their first decisions will be to look at our out of contract players... KD, BWP and Euell. They may also look at JPS who said he would love to carry on playing. Wotte has indicated on the OS that the "old" club has opened contract talks. IF you were advising the new guys who would you keep? me - no brainer KD and get JPS back. BWP & Euell are more difficult. A motivated Euell could be just what we need, but would he fit our new style? BWP - we've had something like 3 years of "potential". Would we take the gamble or would we look for someone better suited to L1? Ideas?
-
Oh yes, but never if it would hurt the club or the new team in charge. Maybe a good reason to have another Forum match at SMS as telling the story over beers is different to telling it in the Echo MATT - You know it makes sense - we NEED that rematch!

assuming the deal goes to completion....

The smaller creditors will be at the bottom of the queue when any money raised is handed around. I would expect some of them to be upset, especially if they are small companies struggling in a recession So if Fry doesn't make the final statement, I would expect some of the smaller guys to start making some complaints and leaks, and TBH who can blame them. Their survival has been damaged by the decisions that led us to this point as much as our emotions have. Let's all WOOT for getting out of the sh*t, but let us remember those poor guys who will in all likelihood only see 10% or so of what they were owed. They will be going through a great deal of pain while we have a chance at survival. I'm sure the new team which will consist of wise people will understand that -
Fry as has been pointed out many times will not at any time have given any thought to what is best for our future. He has only ever been concerned with the Creditors and his own career profile. IF he had been concerned about the club then he would have made it far easier for Pinnacle (with a plan for our future) to have bought the club 3 weeks ago and to have already been in position to start building for next season. Fry is not a hero, he very nearly killed this football club

This is Dubai We have everything Except a football team

I think MLT will know what is needed more than anything else at this club. I think I can guess what it is, but that would be arrogant. So let me say I hope it will be A complete break with the past, with anyone associated with or tainted by the failures. We are in league 1. Wotte was part of the structure that got us here. IMHO he doesn't even get the benefit of the doubt, he may be a nice guy, but he is associated with failure. So long and thanks for all the fish (Is a good book and about the best I could come up with)
-
OMG I agree with a Skate. We were blase and arrogant about our survival. We got lucky that a few people had the guts and tenacity to keep going. It would have been damned easy for them to have given up. As for you lot. Well, from our side let's just hope the FA/PL take a good close look at Hydra Properties. Some wiser people did some checking and felt they were too close to breaching FA regs about the actual final beneficial owner. You'll likely get away with it as you don't have the legacy of old Ruddy Cheeks p*ssing off the suits. If it had been us being bought by him, we'd have got fried

Phew, was away for the weekend and had to beg and fight to borrow a laptop earlier today to congratulate Tony Lynam and his team. I once again want to point out to EVERYBODY on this forum that those people at Pinnacle will have been through hell in the past weeks. While some make jokes and try and hurt them by leaking imaginary names, there is still a lot of work and planning for them to do. One day, WHEN the club is safe, when everything is up and running and the transition team have learnt their tasks and start moving us forward, then I am sure that many positive tales and stories can emerge of the efforts by many people around the world to save our great club. This evening I put the Champagne on ice, and it will stay there for the next 3 weeks. But in it's absence, this evening I raise my glass to Tony Lynam, his unsung heroes, to his backer for coping with everything that was thrown at him in the past weeks, including T's & C's that weren't "quite" within the law. Ladies and Gentlemen, you are heroes, I for one raise my glass and salute you. You don't have time to do this yet, but in a few weeks, take 10 minutes and reflect on what you have achieved for so many people. Bl**dy well done And thank God I can get back to a real life again
-
Tim, great post. When you move away, it hits you a little more about some of the things you miss, and that feeling of belonging and shared experiences moves higher up the list year by year. Suddenly, when you see people destroying it, and then when you see the unholy mess it has become it hurts. All fans would have hurt badly if we had been lost completely, but for me -it would have been the last straw, that last real regular link back to that place we think of as home. It makes you so aware of things and I know that you have been tireless in your efforts to try and find a way to help as have many others. We now face a long road back, but we are on it and hopefully (not TOO soon) we will have grandchildren that we can take one day who can also be bitten by the bug As for that lot - well, that could SO have been us, we all know why it isn't but who knows, one day
-
Thank God, and well done to Tony Lynam & his people who know doubt have been under extreme stress the past few weeks. Now finish the job and get Fry out of SMS as fast as possible, not just so you can build the squad but for all the other pain he no doubt caused you guys
-
Totally deflated today, and what also bugs me is how in one minute the Irish are coming and the next they aren't even mentioned. It would have had to have been the fastest takeover bid in history, and while I don't worry about anyone else agreeing, it just leaves me feeling a little uneasy, something doesn't sit right

Story now everywhere http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/may/28/southampton-staff-unpaid-administration http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1189228/Southampton-crisis-deepens-club-fails-pay-wages-month.html?ITO=1490 http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=650500&sec=england&&cc=4716 all say the same

I know, it's that old parable isn't it - The little boy who cried wolf, I think we sleep-walked our way through the real one. Oh well
-
lol - don't be daft. Something went wrong yesterday, a few noticed it and a few comments were actually made, but they simply got lost in the volume of jokes. Let's face it there hasn't been anything to really discuss for a week or more due to he shortage of info. Fry told us yesterday was a pivotal day. The reports of this meeting seem to start to point in the fact that the pivotal day had an outcome of some sort. And it doesn't look good. I have a horrible feeling about this, and I also have a horrible feeling about what the media will say when Fry (in order to avoid ANY blame being sent in his direction) points out that the fans didn't try to help, caused the legends match to be cancelled, called for boycotts of SaintsAid on the Echo forum. But it's ok there's a yacht in the Solent somewhere
-
Thanks mate, the last few days have been incredibly stressful, and unfortunately it all comes down to two things have happened either one Essex Boy/egotistical idiot gambled AGAIN with our club in the last 6 days OR an extremely suspicious course of events. But your last line is not correct, it is, and always has been, about the terms and conditions and the attitude in which those are negotiated or should I say imposed.
-
It was scheduled to start at 09:30 this morning. It was planned to make one of two announcements. It was delayed until 12:00 But not to worry, we were too busy making stupid jokes about spelling and stuff to notice that something was very wrong yesterday
-
This is very sad. But unfortunately not unexpected. Many of us fans became became very clever in our statements about not wanting to pay the players wages and forgot about the 100+ other employees. I repeat what I said yesterday on numerous occassions. I am VERY worried
-
They better be effin QUICK
-
Meanwhile, any breaking news from SMS?
-
Which, using the power of Vulcan logic (great movie that new Star trek) means..... what? in relation to May's wages... yep
-
Which could be why German teams haven't won the CL for a while But their National players get to go to big clubs. Load of old ballacks if you ask me, all of it
