    OS

How about looking at it this way. Web Bloke - "Hey Rupe's/MW et al I need a statement for the OS, can you stop talking to the Bank/Council/Lawyer/Investors/Stock Exchange and dictate something for us, surely it is more important that you stop trying to save us and tell the fans you are trying to save us...."
  2. OK so how does that stack up with the story that if West Ham United PLC going into liquidation because of the debts of their Icelandic owner, the football club would continue? Nobody at the club will break the law - that's why they suspended shares. However, there is no reason to assume that they cannot USE the law. And again, as I have said many times, things are never as simple as we think, we don't like the PLC but we really have no detailed ideas of how it is structured and what professional advisors are telling the club at this time
  3. Oh well, after all those years of build-up, seems like Wednesday became the new Friday and for all the wrong reasons. While there's life I suppose there is still hope, wonder if anyone out there can catch a Hail Mary pass with 2 seconds left on the Game Clock - which is what it now sounds like. Not a good day to sit around on here waiting for ITK snippets or speculation methinks

Just a point - maybe the people who have the ability & knowledge to dictate a statement for the OS are a tad busy on other matters?
  5. Uh No, please, not all that again
  6. Not sure why I need to do the lottery, but I'll stick with irony... as I was taking the p*ss:-) meanwhile Who signed whom As Rupe's couldn't have been our man out there? - after all we can say (happily) the above list are failures (at this time) but then if we blame Rupe's for them then why don't we blame him for Saejis Pulis seemed to have been JP's pick after he saw him in a friendly. Gasmi like Morgan seemed to come from Georges Prost's recommendation Liptak well he played in the game on the day when the whole JP started to be made resgined thing happened, don't see honestly that the Board would have backed a JP choice at that time. JP seemed to be the only one who didn't know what was going on Smith - hmm - It is fair to say IMHO that the "dig out players thing" was set in a direction by the "Total Football Revolution" but then Holmes while not setting the world alight hasn't been a complete Ali Dia either What it REALLY shows is that maybe we need Terry Cooper or some of the other scouts we may have let go back as much as anything else, along with some WISDOM in the choice of instructions as to what we want them to find... So far, worryingly, one of the brighter prospects signed this season seems to be a youngster who just got a new contract if I remember right - Jack Boyle - didn't Wilde bring him across? Only in Saints world
  7. If you could include players who hit the bar/post but didn't score then Niemi gets in....
  8. In the crazy screwed up world that is Saints, somehow you sort of know that next season he'll end up being Player of the Year....... Maybe because he'll be the only one we can't get rid of, but more in an Ironic sort of KD turn-around way as well
  9. West Ham have a convoluted structure and there is lots of talk about how the Icaland issue affects them and how the PLC could be in Admin but not the club. Meanwhile (yawn) the situation is never as simple as it seems. A lot of people are working together on a lot of different solutions. One guess though is that this would not be discussed publicly unless the plan was pretty much finished, certainly could not be discussed in public if it was an option
  10. One assumption we all keep making is that if we survive Lowe & Wilde will stay as Board members. Because we are so set in our beliefs, we never think there is any likelihood that they would both take a step back for the good of the club and their investment and invite in a neutral chairman. I am not saying this could happen, it is just that we are always convinced we know all the facts and all the personalities. personally I think I have more chance of winning the UK Lottery on Wednesday without buying a ticket than I think they WOULD step aside, I just observe that what we take as set in stone isn't always the case - assumptions make bad decisions - after all I'm in a desert who'd believe I can't leave home because of the floods...
  11. Which I reckon should stop us getting bored for a few days Soooo I wonder, - personally I'd nominate one of the poor b*ggers down under who wakes up at like 4am every weekend to tune in to Saintstv even though they know what's gonna happen. Or else should we go for 19Canteen or the sadly missed Scooby...
  12. Come on then gang, let's be "avin you! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11560 Surely somebody from the regulars on here could win this... Or maybe we should just write our own nominations.....tee hee
  13. Coldplay made use of it in Abu Dhabi last night to sing a Monkees song while lit by Mobile Phones... Nice gimick but probably used more carbon to charge the phones afterwards But then that's unfair because they did offset all their emissions this time - properly.. How was Metallica? - missed them here 3 weeks ago (6,000 people) as it was the same night as rugby heard it was awesome.
  14. I'm surprised you asked... After all he doesn't actually pick the team does he - we all know who does:rolleyes: But maybe he could take a leaf out of a few others before him and just simply talk to them and look them each in the eye and look for signs of negativity, or worse - Frattonitus that Claus stare as he came on the pitch THAT day But he'll probably have a plan instead
  15. The world needs visionaries. People who take that step and make things happen while using a "Full Steam Ahead and Damn the Torpedoes" attitude. There is however a very fine line between those who actually have the Wit and Wisdom to make that work, and those who end up looking stupid and failing dismally as we now see at SMS. The Ex Ceo of the MNC I used to work for had a vision. the trouble is he had no common sense and had nobody who would stand alongside him and bounce ideas or question every angle until the "Vision" became workable as well as visionary. The company faltered, he was called the Worst CEO in American COrporate History He was quoted as saying "but everybody agreed with my decisions" and the interviewer responded by saying - well of course, you fired anyone who dissented... IF we get to the end of the season intact and in the CCC and without new owners, then from SOMEWHERE, that Voice needs to tell him to take that step back from hands -on and give the fans something and someone they can rally behind who at least thinks before acting
  16. You can stop immediately Please then let me know what nights out you do each week (and timings) followed by your address by pm, and let Mrs Hamster know I'll be round to give her your specialist diet and show her a good fitness regime as soon as I can find a cheap flight.....:smt096 As for Sue - can tell she hadn't read all the threads.... She obviously didn't see that whole "Bath after the game" section......
  17. Travis - Why does it always rain on Me after getting semi-drowned in a thunderstorm/monsoon last night at an outdoor gig in the desert But it was great and it was All Yellow
  18. You sort of have a point Alps and I can agree in some ways. But equally, one thing that I have found really important in my life since I came here is a "fear" of those horrible words - IF ONLY. Going through life with a dream or ambition that could never be fulfilled is as daft as going through life without any dream or ambition. When the chance comes up, to play on that Championship Course, to meet that celeb, to be involved in a match on our "field of dreams", is it better to say YES I'll go for it or is it better to find the excuse not to do it? When you hit my age you suddenly realise all those Saturday afternoons you couldn't be bothered to play footie and now it's too late, that darned If Only starts to eat away at you. So now we have the crux. We get the chance to experience a once in a lifetime moment, those of us daft or lucky enough to be able to afford it will be there and it will be special. But, of course, this is only happening because... If ONLY the "leadership" of this club hadn't kept making WRONG decisions one after the other for the past 5 years. So we could sit and say If Only for the rest of our days or we do a bit to help the club by stumping up some cash and saying "I did that" and HOPE that our measly 4 grand keeps the club afloat for another few hours, because who knows, next year we may not have hallowed turf to get the chance to play on.... A wise mate once had a sign on his bar here - he who dies with the most stories wins. (Oh and BTW surely having fans playing on the pitch is better than Sammy Saint et al flopping about on it on match days)
  19. Hey that works. The ref'll never see it they always lead the teams out. Thanks - great advice. Next trick superglue on the seats in the away changing room - that'll slow them down too dragging a bench behind them!
  20. As I see it, the issue is no longer about the equity value of the club. The share cap is now what - 3million? The club needs (using WS's numbers) something like 10-15mil as a cash/capital injection. Simplest answer would be a rights issue IF somebody was found. It takes time BUT we keep falsely IMHO assuming nobody will want to do it IF AN OFFER came along from SOMEBOBY WITH MONEY That would have the effect of so diluting the existing equity holders share that the investor would gain control without spending a penny on buying any shares. Again as I have said many times buying the shares does no good to the club in terms of cash, it just makes it more expensive and so a worse deal, but as the price falls a shrewd buyer could just lobby them to accept a dilution for the good of the club rather than a buy out Now it seems clear that LC does not have enough money to do this, 2mil as is quoted in previous articles as being what he can use and it does not get close to solving our problems. As someone said to me, Just take care in viewing things too simplistically, certainly the more I read the more complex things seem to be to me. Our assumptions are always that everybody from Barclays through shareholder/director/friends of the club are stupid Oh and Robbie - you could get a new control but all the amigos would still be around.
  21. OK so that sums up Gordon Brown. Now what was it about the unrelated to football bit
  22. Oh yeah right, so like might has well have made it a Robinhoesque singing on fee. Like where the fook am I going to get proper Pork Scratchings from down here..... The odd selection of Ham or Bacon or Bangers but proper stuff - grrrr
  23. Crouch couldn't buy out Lowe & pals as he wouldn't have enough money left to put anything in to the club so we'd still be at square one.
  24. The new airport as mentioned is massive. But has a sort of greyness about it which some say is soul-less Some airlines won't let you off IF they are behind schedule, depends on who you fly with. Mates went to Sydney from Dubai via BKK simply so they could get a smoke, plane was late they weren't allowed off and were really not happy. Duty Free is about 50 times more expensive than downtown for "Thai souvenirs" but fags and stuff are fine and cheaper than UK or Aus. Not sure if you are allowed now to take anything liquid back onto a plane for Aus, though. If you can then get the local proper Red Bull (medicine bottle with Red Bull logo) fantastic with Vodka and you won't sleep for a week! The Duty Free system is ok think they deliver to the plane for you but cans/bottles no. Unlike UK you do security just before getting on the next plane, not in some big transfer hall. So lots of people leave it too late and miss flights! The place is on 3 levels, the smoking rooms are on the level where you come off the plane, the airline lounges are one floor up and then the main shops etc two up. Nothing much like a Brit bar but some places selling stuff like Pad Thai etc and canned beer. The travelators down the corridors when you get off the plane are massive and have a little Thai accent saying Ting tong the talk as you get to the end. Took me about 4 trips to realise they actually say End of the walk.... We still lol at it now You won't get time to clear immigration though as on a GOOD day it takes about 25 minutes in each direction and you are at least 25 mins each way from anything worth seeing in the city centre Aussie customs will be far harsher than Thailand - sniffer dogs in the baggage halls and every bag x-rayed. Make sure you read the regs it's like 20 years in jail for an apple or dirty trainers or something stupid like that
  25. Yesterday Slob around Tonight Coldplay in concert in Abu Dhabi. Outdoors and it's been nowt but Thunderstorms and strong winds all week, may take wellies lol at the posh hats and frocks "look at me types" going to the Horse Race today Tomorrow sleep off the journey back from Abu Dhabi Been waiting for a decent current band to come to this part of the world for a year since Muse. Fed up with being asked to pay stupid money to see "has beens", so now can pay stupid money to see pretentious twits..:-) Hope we don't wait a year for another one And no ain't wearing a Saints shirt for Will
