  1. Nah stop whingeing. 100 mil - drop in the ocean.. Where did the money come from in the first place? - You lot, with your SUV's your Ford Galaxy's and the obsession with driving everywhere. yep you still kept filling up when the oil price was $147 a barrel and the locals were making about $120 a barrel profit. How many lillion barrels a day were they pimping (sic) out??? So look on this as a whole new Green recylcing angle. You bought the oil and it ends up in the back pocket of some dodgy agents who'll buy some new cars with it and bingo... Wanna stop this as REAL foootball fans then stop paying your Sky subscriptions, stop reading about football in the media, buying kit, stickers et al. That won't happen, Abu Dhabi won't pull out of Man C and dump them (after all this IS only a Brand building exercise) so get with the programme or get out of football. (OK Irony peeps Irony) There HAS to be a better way this is just WRONG and I completely fail to understand why Abu Dhabi think it is such a good idea at THIS point of time. Very strange things ego's as we've found to our cost over the years
  2. Wow a whole 3 posts taken up by spelling corrections. Meanwhile back at Bay Watch, oops sorry harbour watch, has it moved yet? What time the LSE close for the big announcement from the OP?
  3. I REALLY hope you meant that in a Footballing sort of way....
  4. All we need now is a photo of Barry the Briefcase and LLS sailing up the Solent in their Tin bath and we KNOW it's a done deal
  5. lol wondered when you'd wake up! So, as our resident guru on the subject, who has the right earlobes for the Directors Box, Jobs or Ellison?
  6. Fantastic 5 pages of excitement about a player who hasn't made the grade at his last 3 clubs, one of which being the mighty Norwich Shows how much we miss takeover threads!
  7. OMG!!! Of course that's it - there's nothing wrong with Steve Jobs, he's simply taking a sabbatical to lead the takeover team into battle with Larry Ellison to buy Saints Oh don't you LOVE Fridays!
  8. Hmmm of course it all works out, we have a Saints fan on the West Coast so this MUST be true. Does this mean we'll have the first team ever that keeps crashing because we forgot to turn on our automatic Java updates... Oh no that was Ronaldo (yeah I know Java is Sun but it was funnier this way)
  9. Hey them dudes in the garden are batting a pretty good average at the moment. TBH it p*sses me off - I'd far rather spend my banned time on the beach, but no, I spend a day sorting them out after their summer sleep - we win at Derby. I go out for a shopping trip and stock up on veg for them especially having googled what they eat, we win at Reading. Then last week same again banter and jokes about their mating habits and off I go looking up how to find out if I have a mixed pair or just gay friends out there. Trust me the beach and air hostesses in bikini's works Soooo much better but until we lose again with me off line, Tortoises is where it's all at. Anyway Arizona's banned on match days as well now!
  10. I'll ignore it completely In fact as I am "banned" from having anything to do with match threads or watching or listeing I simply will continue to harvest the Tortoises in blissful ignorance.
  11. Ah Lupoli, the new Skacel guess that means we'll play him at RB then
  12. About 3 fingers of Scotch poured on the rocks served in a nice crystal glass while reading TSW.............. HTH
  13. Ok so where are we? It's been so long I lost track. Are Saturdays the new Fridays? Are Fridays now Thursday (except in Kuwait where it is probably Sunday) or are we back to Monday's now. Or is all being revealed today as a nostalgic trip back to the good old days when Friday was just well, Friday
  14. You mean this isn't from a remake of the Blues Brothers? damn
  15. MB in ITK shocker! again! :-)
  16. Nostalgia and the future all in one go. One problem of course is what is Nostalgia? For some of us it was seeing a few glimpses Best Charlton & Law playing together when we were standing on a beer crate. For others it is the days of Marian & MLT. For the really young generation that many of us take to games (when affordable) that nostalgia will be the passionless display against Man U or being surrounded by angry "old people" swearing at the ref, the board, the manager. (As there isn't much else to see happening on the pitch!!) The point is that the club at the moment is like a drowning man. It needs the kiss of life, it needs to get it's feet on dry land again. Talking of the future to somebody going under for the thrid time is about as pointless as asking them for their favourite name dropping story. It makes us feel better but it sure don't help! BUT, what is critical is that once (IF) those feet get back on dry land then the history, the nostalgia and the spirit of the club IS recalled, IS remembered and is used to become a BASIS of our future. Man City seem to be showing ALL the wrong ways to do this, I believe that Saints are worth saving, I believe they can survive even with lead weights tied to their ankles and that ONE DAY, every single person who has played a role in our demise and divisions is consigned to a corner of the history books from where they can never be exhumed except as a salutary lesson in how NOT to do things, but our history and our culture and our spirit MUST be remembered and MUST be allowed to help to guide us, otherwise, what is the point?
  17. OI! It's a hell of a lot easier going downhill than up mate, you have more breath left for enjoying the view!

    dean richards

    Oh no we don't
  19. Somebody may need to check, but doesn't 1) Yeung own shares in Birmingham and 2) some sort of stories about him not paying or owing David Gold about 25mil? Wouldn't hold my breath over the weekend guys.. BTW Steve M was commentating on the Man U game my lad saw him.
  20. Not an "I met" story but a strange co-incidence jusat now... Local Satellite channel had a fill-in about a Morroccan Player who made it "big" in the CL & World Cup. he left home to Portugal, played in the CL and then in France '98 was the highest rated passer in the tournament.... Tahar El Khalej no less.. It showed him joining Saints and some of his best moments and he went on about how much he loved it there, how he was upset when he went to Charlton and still watched their games live, how he watched the Man U game when we went down and cried. He returned to Morrocco, and with the money he earnt, bought his home town 2nd Division Club that his dad used to play for. They had run down facilities and staff and yet he led them to promotion to the First Division. He has now "swopped the Boardroom" and is doing his coaching badges and would love to come back and manage in Europe in about 5 years time when he thinks he'll be experienced enough. Anyway nice to see Saints getting a mini-documentary slot and good to see Tahar looking fit and well on tv. Not ALL modern players blow their money on fast cars, and gambling! Now why the heck did he buy a 2nd division club THERE when he could have done all that here!
  21. Being fair to the concept WC was trying to get over, in the past 4 or so years we had a massive influx of Brits charging in here and buying up holiday homes, homes to let and just generally spending money. The number of times you would hear them in a restaurant or at a dinner party, leveraging this, twisting that and then talking about having half a million of debt on their properties. but it doesn't matter luvvie because of course the inflation wipes that all out... They blinged up this place, they rubbed their new Porsches in our faces. And now they leave the cars in the Airport Car Park with the keys in the ignition as they run back home. The world went very crazy and it is us poor b*ggers at the bottom of the pile who feel the pain and get the mess to clear up. cannot see many of the bankers & politicians who led us all into this mess losing out on their retirement savings somehow. Unless the world turns into Zimbabwe's economic miracle with Hyperinflation making the debts worthless, how the heck is it all going to get paid back, by the banks, the Governments and the People
  22. Drop the match ticket prices by a fiver (19 quid at the ends) Reset the season ticket prices for next year against this level Then give a SPECIAL 4 week EXTRA Early Bird renewal window with the extra incentive of some of the price difference - say an extra 2.50 per game next year. 2 birds one stone - reduces the early bird price even more when many talk about not renewing and gets more in the doors and yep i am sure there is a messy VAT thing in there somewhere when it changes again and no I don't have the full details, no I ain't an accountant and no it won't happen Oh and yeah you could run it for a limited time say "Winter Warmer" and not reduce the Early Bird by so much....
  23. We're gonna BUY a player????!!!!! Head for the lifeboats! WTF is going on! This cannot be happening, it'll cause heads to explode all over the forum....
  24. Ha imitation is the best form of flattery.... There is after all only ONE LLS.... luckily
  25. There is some evidence though. Under WGS after "that" pre-season, he played a style that involved our players closing down and aggressively chasing down the opposition. We certainly overachieved that season and i am sure that there were media comments about us being "one" if not "the" fittest squad in the PL. Fast forward to the Burley days and there was a lot of visual evidence that we were not fit, and also the KJ story. Sure different managers would want different types of fitness for different reasons, but the GB Norway trip sounded more like a stag weekend seeing some of the posts by lads who went along... It would be interesting for our stat gurus to find out how many late goals we conceded by each season - say the last 8 minutes or so. We had a spate early this year BUT have started to actually get points now so maybe the fitness is / has been addressed. Conceding late goals is often as much about mental fitness and concentration as it is the physical side. A lad from this part of the world is the highest rated U-14, he is rated by his UEFA badged coaches as the fittest kid playing football. He had a trial not so long ago, got through day one on ability without a problem. Day two after just under 3 hours he collapsed and said no way could he keep going, the Academy lads were just way to fit and fast for him. respect to him for actually deciding himself he needed to go away and work on things. This is a kid who had olympic level stamina and speed training, but what HE learnt is that it was not what was needed for football. So we come back to the point that different age levels and different managers would want different fitness levels. IMHO - they get paid enough so they should have to vomit more often! Would do some prima donnas around teh PL & Championship the world of good getting barfed all over!
