  1. This thread should be renamed the X-Files thread We always knew the Truth was out there, and a lot of it is coming out today. Would be interesting to know if tommac's fee was for his own work or to pay others to get the proposal up the ladder to PA's desk. It also helps explain why so much store was placed in investment coming in if we had such high powered hitters on the case.. Oh
  2. And thereby hangs the whole nub of the real argument about survival.... Keith Harris was on talksport this morning about selling football clubs and the recession... The precis I heard was that nothing is likely to happen now and that the closer we get to the end of the recession the more chance there is that buyers COULD start to emerge. Horrid dilemna - do you opt for euthanasia to stop the pain and suffering when there is the chance of a miracle cure in 6 to 9 months? Not easy
  3. Well of course spot on - that narrows it down to hmm what? about zero people then.... But interesting - anyone of the types who did that last year (if any) like that Blackburn bloke would have signed an NDA - perfect - we can now sue them for a couple of mil in damages and sign some players!
  4. :smt044 Went to the Belgian Beer Cafe last night - nice place except the Leffe Brune is 7 quid for 500cc (mind you only need 3 pints to fall over!) - people were wearing fleeces and they had patio heaters going, just made me lol seeing our "glam set" freezing and then comparing it to Blighty! See you made it to work ok after the game on Sunday - as nothing crashed that day!
  5. Are you my mummy? (In homage to the Doctor Who episode which introduced Capn Jack to us) But also in that whole other way
  6. Somebody commented that a couple of Dutch players had been training with the squad over the last few weeks. Good spot
  7. Hmm Following on my train of thought on this whole game. What would the club have actually achieved by leaking this information at this time? Were they trying to make a point after the player articles? Or is this a drip feed of leaks from another source with an axe to grind and pressure to build up? Hmm who else would have known these figures besides the club? Any ex directors around these days? Looks like game on again in the world of political fighting and the Echo and TSW marching blindly off into the Mustard Gas... Sod the lot of 'em
  8. One thing continues to puzzle me. Last season we were ambling along sort of looking up towards the play-offs and then the "Open Warfare" broke out the day before (I think) the Charlton game, when the Execs went public with their warning that we were living beyond our means. The forum went into melt down, the Execs were locked into the stocks and we threw metaphoric rotten vegetables at them. The team flopped horrendously against Charlton and from that moment it seemed as if GB lost the plot political melt-down started, Runnymede came and went, Leon made his coup and it all led to the return of Rupert Now it comes back to bug me - IF the Execs publicly stated we were in trouble financially and needed to do something about it, how come "they" are taking all the flak for it now? Something isn't quite right here and it isn't just how did the Echo put all this together.
  9. Just heard Darren Moore released on a free by Derby.......
  10. Lol we have two articles of players having a say which we comment on and turns the forum into even more depressing reading and then somebody leaks this information. Why am I not surprised, and what on earth were so called professional administrators thinking? Yes we wanted to get good players in and some of them were VERY good, but it's a bit like deciding you need a new Bentley when you've already maxed out your credit cards. Someobdy declared war though and the Echo is lapping up being the battle-ground Next installment please!
  11. Paul Allen Bill Gates Any Russkie who doesn't already own a club Arnold Swarzeneger in his Terminator 1 role And whoever doesn't agree to buy us is Arnie'd for desert
  12. Yep but it is a 2 leg game as I recall.... Mind you still no excuse you're right
  13. You should come to Dubai then (allegedly) funnily enough on the OP subject I treated my female employees equally And got complained at Because I never treated them like Ladies ffs
  14. sprayed my Scotch on the keyboard - lol
  15. OK I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it Just been out for a beer with a mate. Found a new Belgian Beer Cafe (hmm Leffe Brune - yum yum) We sat outdoors watching the local world go by and decided it was too cold and so we went back indoors. It was 14C outside tonight and we were FROZEN! Then got back and saw the sea froze in Sandbanks and the temp in London was lower than Antartica. So yes I worry about the pensioners having to sit by their light bulb to keep warm (my mum is one) but ouch peeps how on earth are you coping? Are you all like this poor bloke in Canada? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/4144141/Vail-skiier-caught-dangling-with-his-trousers-down-on-lift.html How bad must THAT have been = the whole COLD thing let alone being in front of your kid..... arrgghh our funniest of the year so far!
  16. yeah, like he was really successful during the good times as well eh! Anyway - he only cut and pasted what I posted back in late September about billionaires and football - nobody has the cash today, billionaires all have assets and they either use those to borrow cash for takeovers or they sell something else. they ain't gonna do that when there is no lenders or buyers around and we saw what's happening to them with that German guy jumping under a train this week :yawinkle: On the admin points - admin only works when you cannot raise cash by any other means. We aren't THERE yet, we still have assets on the playing staff. Obviously it is a last chance saloon if you have to have a fire sale (eg Sk*tesmuff & West Ham) but it does buy some more time for either restructuring OR the recession to ease and people to start looking at clubs again. In our case it would be the final cast of the dice but in THEORY at least it could be argued that a few loans and freebies MAY be enough to keep us up again. But it would NOT be a course of action anyone SHOULD take unless their back was so far up against the wall that there was no other choice.... After all, in Admin the liquidator would sell them anyway so at least you have SOME hope.... Bad though
  17. It would be interesting to see if this article elicits a response from the club. The Echo clearly have taken the gloves off with the Skacel piece and then this, but the snippets that were around at the weekend actually show this one may not be quite as how it has been "pitched". Think I'll just keep the hat on and duck because without a response it is just about time for open warfare
  18. Ah ha, Thanks Stanley for nailing your colours to the mast as Leon's PR manager. They are ALL as bad as each other mate, Leon made mistakes as well, so be careful you do not start to re-write history. They ALL have to go and ALL take their hangers on with them.
  19. Interesting http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4025013.Cork__Watford_wanted_me_more_than_Saints/ Sanctimonious apology or new material for the anti-everything brigade Cork: Watford wanted me more than Saints Nicely constructed bombshell by the Echo Tin Hats chaps, incoming!!!!!!!!
  20. The rich bloke trying to buy Derby

    Gaza

Actually they do, the problem is straight back to Dubya - he wanted democracy, they voted for Hamas, who are mainly supported by Syria and of course Iran. Now nobody down here LIKES the Iranian regime either in fact the UAE have a real issue with them over some Islands they stole. The Saudi's hate them and vice versa as they have different views on Islam and the Iranians don't think they should be in charge of the Holy sites. So the moderate Governments pump fortunes into aid agencies but won't pump it into the government as they seem them as puppets of the same people who'd actuall like to get their hands on the rest of the Gulf region. Unfortunately nothing is ever as simple as it seems down here. People get hurt while idiots play politics
  22. maybe he was simply getting bored sitting around his house all day long posting on internet forums under innumerable aliases?
  23. lol of course it is only good news if 1) JP works out how to do things in the next week OR 2) We get a proper experienced head in to help/run things Oh
  24. Lost 1 billion in a month. You know I could have helped there - I could have saved him a lot of strain and ensured he spread it out and lost it over two months But seriously a lot of rich people have been hit and many of their companies are implementing Cap Ex freezes, Op Ex reductions as well as travel & recruitment bans. Not easy being rich these days, lucky old us lot on here eh Well apart from Alpine & you who are no doubt changing Euro salary into pounds as fast as you can.... :yawinkle: A few more percentage drops against the pound and you guys could form a consortium to buy Saints out of your shopping budgets!
  25. Ditto But as I posted on their take-over thread about their board appearing to be in a hostile take-over, I'd add on here that this appointment actually smells more to me of populist PR in an upcoming board room battle than a sound footballing decision. Board in "making political appointments" shocker when turmoil could be approaching. Like it - good news for us!
