  1. Leandre Griffit is PL quality springs to mind Telfer's not good enough for us but went off and played in the Champions League was a good one. Let's go Wilde of course is the all time winner
  2. Ha - you ask for inside info on HERE! After what happens to anyone who even guesses! IMHO if it was me I would say something along the lines of - KD you are getting better, give us a bit more effort between now and the end of the season and earn yourself a nice new contract by keeping us up... Sooner we are mathematically safe, sooner we can talk. Or words to that effect And then watch some PL club offer him 4 times as much on a Bosman ho hum don't you love NOT having to do that sort of stuff
  3. Saga played on the wide right in a 4-5-1 for Poland in the Euro's. May be a concept for when Lallana is fit again. his work rate may help the balance in the side But would prefer him in front of goal
  4. How many years in a row have we said something similar about our CB position???? All the way back to when Svennson first got injured I reckon Don't you love people who learn from their mistakes! Going back to the point about signings - think again the balance wasn't right, but also to be fair IF the old heads had stayed fit (or been any good) then we may have had a slightly less bad 1st half. Still, HOPEFULLY we'll stumble into a balanced (AND settled) side for the rest of the season
  5. Likewise in some ways we lost Schneiderlin & Holmes and you could argue Skacel. But for us it is a conspiracy for them it is the loss of their best players And Yes VS, obviously they are 5th and in the PL, just after the doom & gloom of the Christmas period with Saints it made me smirk to see somebody in such a lofty place gave the same sort of criticisms that we'd had of us. Can't wait for the Wenger out rants from the Gooners though! Oh and yes we are still in a mess, not making ANY excuses for that!
  6. I was reading Soccernet's Insider's analysis of Arsenal's game yesterday and was intrigued to see that he reported on Stan Collymore's radio comments.... They seem to read word for word what many have said about us all season! http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=608270&sec=england&root=england&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1&cc=4716 "....It seems as if the opposition have found a way to counteract Arsenal's game plan and instead of passing judgement on the Gunners myself, I'll let someone else take the abuse for a change. Former Liverpool Stan Collymore was perched just behind me in the press box doing a radio commentary and he grew more frustrated with this Arsenal performance by the minute. Stating his view that they 'sadly lack a plan B', he accused the Gunners of being devoid of the cutting edge they have been famous for in recent years. "Wenger needs to spend money if he is to have any chance of taking this team onto the next level," stated Collymore. "They were not getting the ball wide and stretching a Bolton side they should be beating easily. This Arsenal team are a hell of a long way off from being title challengers." Arsenal's passing was crisp, yet the front two of Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie were starved of quality service and the deflated body language of the duo as this game ambled towards a close did little to dispel the theory that both have lost faith in their team-mates......" So it seems we are not alone in being without a Plan B and leadership on the field... and that from a team with supposedly the cream of the world's youngsters... almost lol'd Somehow I don't think our solution is to sign Arshavin (sic) but it's nice to see that the same words get trotted out for someone else! Let's hope the new defenders bring a bit of that leadership and that we find a DM to drive things better in the window Oh yeah and pre his goal yesterday FINALLY a comparison between DMG & Adebayor/Van Persie!
  7. Keegan. Moran had a great run, but after his injury (can't remember if it was back or achilles) he lost that extra inch of pace that made him stand out. Also, as no one else has even mentioned him, Bobby Stokes must at LEAST get a mention in despatches
  8. Too bl*8dy cold for the water park one at the moment but yeah, get the point, done deal - reckon we'll make the play-offs if I never listen again?!!
  9. What happened? what was the score - as I'm banned from opening any match threads or commentary links on match days was trying to fit a radio mast onto the back of the slower of the Tortoises to get the result but E0A started taking pot shots so nothing... Guess I ain't allowed back on-line again next week then if as it appears we won. Woo hoo I'm JP's secret weapon!
  10. Palace TV, Forest at SMS & Man U tv then Reading online for last 10mins... anyway thanks for the advice from others I have some far more rewarding work to do this evening waking the Tortoises up to measure them for muzzles.
  11. OK all right well spotted, he was here having talks with David Beckham who was here with AC Milan and was alleged to be struggling for match fitness and as Rupe's saw the photo of Becks with the tattoos and thought they could do a loan deal to get him fit for his loan deal sort of thing. But yes interesting I know it was cold over in UK and people may want to get some rays but.... Them overnight Emirates flights out of here are a sod to get any decent sleep on and then straight up to Barnsley from London by taxi?? surely he wouldn't have gone back to Southampton for a trip up there that kicks off at 3pm
  12. :yawinkle: We had two New Year's in one week - we had the Islamic one and then we had the no outdoors parties one. At first I thought it was a booze thing when people kept saying and a Double Happy New Year.... Was actually thinking about sending them Tortoises on a new sports science course if the breeding programme doesn't work, they'd not be too expensive salary-wise and could certainly teach our forward line a thing or two about pace. Also a whole way of covering extremities up when facing a direct free-kick in the penalty area........... I'm sure Eric will up date you all on the progress of the back of his sofa during the match thread with his 3 posts (unless he's crashing planes again). I'm relegated back to being unofficially banned from listening or watching or commenting on any games.....
  13. Lol, we had 3 lads over for a show from the Comedy store in London last night. There was a REALLY p*ssed Dutch bloke in the front row... kept falling asleep, waking up, shouting something like - why you bicycle not parked - then falling asleep again Completely random statements instead of the normal heckling, was the funniest thing we'd seen in ages, even the first comedian was in tears of laughter on the stage Then realised it actually was like listening to the comments of a certain Dutch person we already have...
  14. OI you bstd! we told you to keep QUIET! We said the deal couldn't be finalised until Eric had double checked the back of his sofa because on first pass he only found 17 dirhams which left us about 4 dirhams short. And secondly the camels rumour is NOT correct. We are in fact embarking on a long term strategy, I have two highly trained Killer Guard Tortoises in my garden and we are now trying to get them to breed because we know that 1) They are worth lots of money in England and 2) there is a demand for Guard animals that don't bark all the time. Please, we only need another 8 months before the eggs hatch and we can sell 4 baby tortoises and afford Shearer as our manager.. (Oh sorry that was somebody else's money raising plan)!
  15. Should be a decent vintage then by the time you get to open it....
  16. Fogle Cracknell and Coats get yours Shroppie
  17. For the first time since they arrived on the scene at SLH, Lowe, Wilde & Crouch give the fans some true entertainment lol at the Goodfellas one and the train is a classic - in fact when the revolution comes we should have THAT printed and put up in the boardroom (alongside the LM Cup photo of course
  18. Mods don't wait get this in Golden Threads NOW Respect to St Stevo for giving us all the link. Oh wow the ex, the ex boss, the mates - this ain't EVER gonna stop they'll all be done by the end of the weekend! Priceless - love the tellytubby!
  19. Thankyou thankyou thankyou - I have a great mind it's official! Whoopee! Can I keep this and use it as a reference? Wow, I keep this up and I might one day be as clever as Rupert & Michael.... Meanwhile I am worried, we have not had any new revelations for at least a couple of hours on this thread. Storm brewing methinks!
  20. Foreign CB signed by us. Easy, it's Stasis As in spot the difference between one of our foreign CB's and someone in Stasis... The stasis subject has more movement
  21. I'm sure we can get dear departed Roman to make a comeback just for this one last mission!
  22. Yes, best used only by people from far away staying in caravans for the summer and using those lovely beaches nearby..... You think that place is odd, try Sturminster Newton in Dorset on a wet winter Sunday afternoon
  23. And those figures are just championship wages..... add a nought for the top PL players and you can afford to crash your Ferrari as often as you like Still, nice to have another convert to the "Football industry is insane" brigade
  24. Scarily, and bearing in mind the Klingons comment, this looks awfully like a slightly chubby Jean Luc Picard from Next Generation..... So THAT's where he got that quote from!
  25. OK you geniuses out there, time for some balance, there MUST be similar and appropriate ones that can be done by you masters of photoshop to cover JP Leon MW and even tommac so that we end up with a Golden thread! These are brilliant!
