  1. That is as likely as Barry the Briefcase being installed as caretaker manager this evening All IMHO of course. Somehow, I just wonder if we aren't under estimating the mess we are in
  2. ?? Rod Wallace got nominated but Martin Chivers didn't? Did I miss something there seeing as I did nominate him? Never mind for this vote as there was only ever going to be one winner
  3. More worryingly, considering everything that was kicking off at the time, How the **** can someone be ASLEEP! OK I know the football is......
  4. Oh just remembered. We're a PLC so don't look on the OS or Echo for any announcements. It likely has to go to Stock Exchange first
  5. Or was getting his a** fried for running away...... Hubble bubble toil and trouble.... Like I said over the weekend, the wisest thing to have done would be to log off and let this week pass as most is speculation, some statements simply wrong and others harmful to the club. but it's like those old Doctor Who episodes when you were a kid - you can't watch but you have to peep out from the end of the sofa just in case!
  6. Ha - just thought - IF he did quit and flew home then no doubt the crisis is actually not about manager but about them trying to track down where the fook JP went so they can deliver the NDA for him to sign lol
  7. Which would explain a return to Holland to hide away from the glare of the Echo's hounds. Would make a nice tidy solution, JP admits the pressure is too much but shows what he did manage in his cv.. Ah speculation, hasn't been like this since the old PA takeover days. As it matters not a jot to Rupe's what we post on here I'll wait for the press conference or statement to come out some time in the next .... year or so
  8. Obviously with a pinch of salt on my behalf in terms of yeah right we all know that old story, but that statement was made by JF in public to Andrew Cowen and heard by a good friend and reliable source on Saturday in the general area of hospitality before the game, it's just another thought that makes me think that what lowe really needs to do today is to see if the management has lost the dressing room or not and whether a short term deckchair shuffle is possible.
  9. Ain't many left to choose from is there..... Wonder wotte the gorrey details will be when they come out
  10. Looking through some of the problems. We start with an assumption that we have enough cash flow just about, but nothing spare. We then have our bankers being Barclays. What happened with them yesterday? They will be under enormous pressure to minimize any bad debts and securitise their loans. So firing JP means his contract must be paid up (by law) but we don't have the money in the bank to do that and I can see no way Barclays would lend more. We can't afford a "recently" unemployed manager as their salary will be higher than we have planned in the cash flow (yes of course I know the argument about quality & fans and income, but do Barclays?) So, either we have an internal re-shuffle, or IMHO if we haveto pay compensation and bring in a "proper" manager, then somebody has to be sold. It's clear JP has to go but as has been often said on here, be careful what you wish for, things that seem clear to us can often not be that way in the trenches.
  11. Didn't one of our posters meet an agent at Southampton Airport a year back? He seemed to have the whole Dutch story explained to him well before Rupert came back? I can't remember if he mentioned a name though. (Think it was one of our Spanish named intelligence sources)

  13. This could be funny. They (finally) sack JP today and appoint a new manager Then Fulthorpe waltz's in with his bid tomorrow (as he publicly stated in Hospitality on Saturday) and fires him so he can bring in the wonderfully experienced Shearer. Wow we could have 3 managers in one WEEK that would be a new record even for for us (irony winky thingy)

  15. FF There is a clearly defined process if somebody wishes to engage with the club or it's shareholders to buy the club. Contact Keith Harris at Seymour Pierce. It has been quoted on the forum a number of times, especially in the Dan Williams days and it has been pretty well done to death. One thing is sure that any proper bid will require legal counsel and NDA's I would recommend that you pass that information to NZ Saint and then see what happens if due legal process is followed (I am not commenting on the validity of the post or the likelihood of the replies, just passing on something I have learnt in the last two years of reading stuff on here)
  16. With regard to the OP IMHO we have one week, simply because right now instead of having a "big problem" we now seem to have a big "disaster" Those at the top probably missed the time for fighting the fires before they got out of control and right now they will have a whole bundle of nightmarish scenarios to deal with. I just think it will take a couple of days of calm thinking - it is clear that there was no plan B, so I cannot see the "Board" taking a knee jerk reaction to fire JP WITHOUT some sort of plan B or replacement at least in mind. Sure we can all pontificate about who it could be and what they may do (if anything) but we don't actually have a plan ourselves yet, so I would expect they would take a couple of days to actually think before reacting. My guess is that next week is the real killer. The pressure of whether we have to sell to bring in somebody new.. Ouch
  17. I think you may have this round the wrong way, judging from someone who was there and spoke to me at length at the weekend, hence the point of the thread and some of the "where does that leave us now" issues
  18. WS I totally support the Mission Statement - like it! Just one problem I see like Wade above is the whole "money to fund a revolution" thing. As an example an article today, Arabic investors have lost US$ 2.6 TRILLION since the start of the crash. Now that is the first hard figure I have seen on losses anywhere. The PROBLEM is that many wealthy people have lost large sums mostly on paper, but it has gone none the less. In BAD times, wealthy investors look for safe havens or low risk high return opportunities. By mounting what in effect would be a "hostile takeover" and possibly re-fracturing the shareholding bases, in theory you could actually make matters worse, you would in all likelihood have a much harder sell when it comes to finding money. In the long term it could work, but we need something doing NOW. IMHO we have made a rod for our own backs here. We need Lowe & JP out, but right NOW we need JP out MORE than we need Lowe out because the ONLY thing that stops that from happening is it means that Lowe would be admitting his mistake.... So unless Lowe eats humble pie, JP doesn't go, but if JP stays we are doomed. We need to think of ways around this paradox as well as your loner term plan. I think we need a two stage plan, this week and your longer term scheme. I have to get my head around how to come up with something similar to you
  19. TBF it sounds like even AC has made a stand....
  20. Simple. Anybody without an ego who simply ASKS around for the answer to a simple question. How would a manager get our team playing and winning? I think MOST of us on here know the answer Unfortunately we have 3 big egos stuck to the club so it won't happen while they are around
  21. Sunday afternoon lawyers at work methinks Good letter though
  22. There will be a lot of changes. But not this week and maybe not even for the next 2 or 3 but they will happen, there is a head of steam rising in the fan base and as a wise man I know once nearly said The stars are slowly aligining for Southampton Football Club IMHO
  23. And THAT will be the final nail in our coffin
  24. Sadly you must still be sober to write something sensible this evening! Meanwhile for anyone who wants to REALLY know what JP SHOULD be doing tactically, just watch any videos of Liverpool this season. They play 4-2-3-1 PROPERLY, and no forget the player quality issue just watch the likes of Dirk Kuyt hug the touchline and cause mayhem out WIDE JP's formation yesterday was doomed to fail from the start because BOTH wide men HAD to cut inside onto their preferred foot. I can understand the logic that it would bring them closer to the one up front, but it DOESN'T work like that as CM says... Width Width Width
  25. Yep well spotted, it's true we are. Fulthrottle takes us over on Wednesday is what he bellowedin AC's face yesterday......... So we'll have no problem siging Kaka or is it spelt cacka in Spanish (long time since I did languages)
