Yep and if that happens who will get blamed for buying him when JP was still getting his luggage packed?
-
No we are not. We died at some point in the past 5 years, but we ain't buried as we are still on a life support machine (but look increasingly brain dead). So as long as somebody keeps putting 50p in the meter we don't have to get the Black Ties out just yet

Wow, is Tom O'Connor still allive? He must be the same age as his jokes by now. He's such a big star I saw him on a New year's Eve booze cruise from Southampton to Cherbourg & back... what 16 years ago. Surprised you reconised him. Meanwhile Damn you Brits, you've finally contaminated Dubai with "EARLY CHRISTMAS" Used to be nothing happened here until about a week before, but in the last few days, bl**dy plastic trees and frozen turkeys everywhere, local supermarket has the decorations up already, and the all you can eat party places are trying to sell tickets for the Day at 200 quid instead of the normal 20. Christmas stuff should NEVER be allowed before the Rugby 7's = FACT, we can only plan ONE p*ss up at a time

We had a nice small turnout at the pub last night. We too were all stuck into a corner with the sound off while the Scousers were on the majority of the screens. While our football wasn't as dire as some make out, (as in a Samoan rugby League performance vs Ireland sort of schoolboy way) it wasn't really going anywhere and in reality, the most entertaining part of the evening was watching EricofArabia ooohing aahing but mainly oh NOOing and the sweepstake on whether he'd explode with despair before the end of the game. Things are not good, we all knew it would be cr*p because that's how we always are on telly, but it is still football just, so we're used to it, and the beer was good.

Despite what some say, was surprised especially in 1st half that we always seemed to have 4+ players puching on into the last 3rd. We actually played OK, but again just a combination of naivety and nous when we get anywhere near the box - time and again the last ball or the choice to try and beat one more man/shoot was poor Lancashire showed inexperience being hustled off the ball too often, was lucky not to give a penalty before they scored (and get a red). Think we'll just hang on in the league, but it is not going to be anything other than two downs and an occassional submission followed by the odd moments of surprise. The neurtal with us was surprised at the improvement from Coventry, thought we played well and deserved a draw but even they were slapping their forehead with frustration in the 2nd half when we at times seemed to get in each others' way on the edge of the box. Euell was badly off the pace and did I see JP ordering us to play 2 up front when Peckhart came on?

Been a beautiful almost English summer's day here today, low hunidity, a few high puffy white clouds and around 32C. HTH 'cos all the local forecasters will all be watching down the pub when the game starts!

Are we better off than when Crouch was here?
dubai_phil replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Agree. Enough of the mini-history re-writes lots more could have been done at every step along the way. We have to live with that now and survive until rescue comes (no matter how long and from where that may be) rather than be utilised as a forum for scoring points between the 'friends' of each faction. -

Oh I am fully aware of that, but from my interpretation of that meeting most of the antagonism was Lowe:Wilde we all know how they ended up.... -

Which, when they were locked into a room by the much maligned LLS & others they actually came close to being able to do. (As we saw from the Runnymede minutes) Again, right now the need for UNITY is probably as critical as anything else, unified fanbase with all sides pulling together will help attendances. All that is actually needed is a large dose of humble pie all round, pragmatism, realism, some PROPER straight talking about the future and 3,000 extra people through the gate. THEN we can survive long enough for the "many alleged" wealthy people out there to get their money moving around again. We need a white knight - rarer than two consecutive good performances from DMG at the moment - so we need to SURVIVE until we can find one. -
That sounds like it takes hours, the old one stopping at Dean, Dunbridge et al was bad enough - can't see any of the Salisbury mob wanting to spend any more time than necessary on a train instead of in the pub

I'm going to the pub. We're on tv. I'm taking friends. We played well last week. Sounds like the 1-4 to Brizzle again then, as it happens every bl*ody time.

Again, back to what I have said so often even I am getting bored with it. All 3 in together or all 3 gone. Each of them has SOME abilities and skills and will keep each other in check. But to be honest, simply re-arranging the deck chairs AGAIN would be like that quote from Einstein or somebody that many people put on their emails.... Doing the same thing again and again and hoping for different results is the definition of insanity Why am I not surprised that Leon's "mates" are making more and more vocal moves on here, with one or more of them out in the wilderness this just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and I am :vom: of it -
I haven't been to the cinema here since somebody let a Python loose in one. It wrapped itself around the leg of some poor unsuspecting ex pat woman who is still apparently in therapy. And the movie wasn't even Snakes on a Plane

But Morph, WHY? The CLUB needs an input of money FAR more desperately than Wilde or Lowe & Co do. WHY pay them? There are plenty of other ways to get them moved out of the way for ever that means they don't take money that the club needs now. TBH if he buys them out and doesn't have 4mil to bring the overdraft down to where it needs to be what is the point on moving the damned deckchairs again? I'm sure Barlcays Bank can advise him on how to take things over without buying shares, they did quite well last week.... -

Don't think this is any form of rocket science.... February comes after January Which is the second transfer window of the season. So any issues caused by cash flow in the first half of the season must be solved in January. We know the O/D is 8mil. We know we only LOANED Rasiak, Saga & SJ not getting any significant money for them, pre-credit crunch the bank seemed to have agreed a 4mil overdraft, but that means we need 4mil for the bank AND we need to cover the decreased revenue so let's work it all out..... An egotistical investor will get in during December to "SAVE" the youngsters. A wise investor will wait to February to pick up the pieces AFTER the debt has been reduced. A speculative investor will be looking at the option expiring on a piece of property in April.... -
Look on the bright side, at least it's a sensible time to go to the pub over here - and no rush hour queues (but watch out for the new Dubai Mall jam!) Late fitness test for Phil tonight. Bit ngrumph this morning but should pull through
-
Friday - mate's birthday party at All you can eat and drink Thai Food place followed by trying to get Wii to work at mates place and then Karaoke. Today - kick chick out to work, go back to bed to nurse monster hangover, stagger down to watch some rugby. Late fitness test for ability to walk to taxi tonight to go to pub to watch Saints Tomorrow - work meetings in afternoon after getting Liver Transplant
-
Actually, compared to some deals people have done around football clubs, it seems a pretty sensible deal http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2290302/Hicks-admission-casts-doubt-on-Benitez-plans.html After all a business having to pay out 30 mil a year so that it could have new owners is much more sensible than making sure you have a fixed plannned expenditure into the future Liverpool's American owners have admitted for the first time that the football club will have to finance around £30 million in annual interest payments on new loans taken out to pay for their takeover of Anfield last February. Just remember, rates can go up as well as down, the late '80's we had them up in the 20% levels. But I suppose many on here seriously believe Lowe is at fault for not first spotting and then stopping the global credit crunch.... So while we are being negatitve, let's also lol then at all those fools who took out fixed rate mortgages, what's that? about 80% of all of them in the UK? Good grief.

Nah come on everyone knows he was on 4k per day..... or was it 40? Almost as much as an Air Traffic Controller in Dubai (who's buying the first beer tomorrow)
-
Lol at Charlton Not only did they get ditched by their investor, look who they're lining up as their saviour to get them back up the league! http://www.itv.com/Sport/Football/News/Championship/Generalnews/Powell-joins-Addicks-on-trial-517434970.html

Nope, would love to but, 'fraid not me & Eric have this get him a date thing going on with Kylie that weekend..... (She's in concert here and I blagged freebies again) Going to try and get across before Xmas but again having been sitting waiting for various things to happen they've all come in at once and am actually quite busy. Was coming early Dec as I had a gap, but just got invited to spend the week with Anika Sorenstam and her friends and then on to her retirement party... tough call but sod the footie. (Oh yes and of course I'll point out that investing in a new career in football chairmanship would be a wise use of her pension)
-
OK I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you......:smt071 No I actually plan on posting my whereabouts just for you onto the weekend fred sponsored by M27 road signs or whatever. And anyway if it's bad (again) as the lass will be there I can always pop upstairs and get a room for the second half....:smt077 And as for Kylie - well am slowly getting there, my mate does have a limited number of access ALL area passes available for the gig at extortionate rates..... Still think there's more chance of your date than a takeover...
-
:smt040 Working on the logistics right now. Full details on weekend fred I expect! And you've been here long enough to know the locals don't work on Fridays. If it comes out of this part of the world, Sunday will be the new Friday (YES got that one in again!) :supz:

The UI had an article about this - not a good idea to come by train from the Salisbury area on Saturday! http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.showNews.php?id=15672

You had to ASK!!!!! That's it then - you're getting the first round at Goodfellas on Saturday!
