Did Walcott get into football late, I thought he was at Chelsea and Swindon before us. He is the most talented out of the three and with the right development he will be great, but I agree he has to start producing the goods afterall Fabregas had played loads of times for Arsenal at Walcotts age.

They were right to be happy, GB had a good track record with Ipswich and Derby and had Hearts playing well. Every managment apointment is a gamble, on paper GS coming to us was a poor choice and Paul Jewell to Derby was good. Its just so unpredictable.

Lowe has done what a Chairman has to do, find a manager that will that will fit a clubs set up. He knew the first thing he was going to do was slash the expenditure and keep costs low by getting rid of a lot of players and relying on cheaper players. So he had to find a manager that could work with this, but that’s his job, he has not invented a new way of running a club or a revolutionary setup. He has cut costs and found a manager that will try to get the best out of what’s left. JP is getting the results, not because of the set up but in spite of it. Its early days yet and long may it continue but this Lowe back slapping is all a bit embarrassing.

He's Big He's Fat, He's Gonna Get The Sack...
Fan The Flames replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Same for Glen Hoddle when we were up at Spurs, sacked the next day and linked with Saints. The saying be careful what you wish for came to mind. -
It would be good to go on a run now, the frustrating thing under GB was we never strung a good run together. One week we would be happy thinking we turned a corner and then a crap result the following week.

Brilliant, an away win early in the season. Derby are obviously in some sort of trouble but we won and didn't help another club turn the corner, instead we may have lets hope so. Come on you reds. I love it when we win, will get the papers tomorrow.

this thread is too confusing

Your chance to ask Michael Wilde about Saints
Fan The Flames replied to Delmary's topic in The Saints
You are as quick to moan like everybody else. I don't understand when you say this is the only point you have shared your opinion on, you have been posting on here for years so you must have offered an opinion or two unless you have talked banal dribble all this time. -

But you do as much slating as anybody else, everyones opinion is valid. -
More like a mouth to mouth deal to revive a dying career, I hope we dont sign him.

He can't really be that ****, he was class at Hearts and Championship football standard must be below that. He needs a JP cuddle and made an important part the team and we will be thanking a lucky stars he stayed.
-
How can you possibly say that, there is no way you can logically conclude that. The equivalent last game survival at The Dell was against Wimbledon, and I know who I would rather face in a one **** or bust game.

Saints fans get blamed a lot on this message board and here is another example. If you want to stay at home because of an activity that always happens at football matches or if you really want to get all worked up that the fans may have contributed to a goal then go ahead but in my opinion you will be wrong. . The motivations for footballers are many and abuse from opposition fans is just one tiny aspect and for every footballer that has scored/played well when receiving abuse there are as many who have fluffed it. Two examples come to mind, Peter Crouch when he played for Villa was rocked by the abuse he got by the crowd and missed a sitter with his head from a few foot out, Fat Aussie W@nker got Viduka all worked up, he was useless and pulled a one on one wide. So getting behind our players helps them and getting on their backs makes their head slump, but getting on the backs of the opposition spurs them on, makes no sense. Sports psychology works both ways the pressures that makes one person succeed makes another fold. Having a pantomime villain has been part of football since I can remember, it’s an enjoyable pursuit as far as I’m concerned and worth the gamble that it might have a negative effect.

How did we get here... By not getting out of the Southern League quickly enough. Who was the chairman then, its all his fault.

There was life before the Premiership, you might like to know that there we actually won the the FA Cup in 1976 and finished 2nd in 1984 all before Lowe arrived. Lowe didn't come and turn this club around he came and carried on running it as badly as before. Average top flight position before Lowe 12th, average afterwards 13th. Get over it people he's no superstar chairman hes done and is doing a very average job.

Im so excited I couldn't sleep. What time are we being taken over, might drive down to be on tele.

Considering we played last night and the draw is tonight it's a valid topic of converstaion. Even if we were flying high in the Premiership I would be interested and looking forward to the draw. Whats your problem.

When England failed to qualify for the Euro's a MP filed a House of Commons question condemning Steve Maclaren and came on to Radio 5 to explain his actions. Claridge went wild on him shouting that he doesn't know what he is talking about and that he has no right voicing his opinion and he shouldn't waste tax's payers money. Basically Claridges stance was the only people that should be allowed an opinion on the matter were those who play or have played the game professionally because everyone else has no experience to base an opinion on. The MP was voicing an opinion that many people held, he may have raised it in a geeky MP way, after all the FA agreed with him. Claridge was embarrassing, he ranted for ages and was completely wrong, it got a load of complaints.

I agree, or make the home team the team that is lowest team out of the two drawn together. Good for crowds and a few more upsets. Of the two drawn together the team of a lower division is the home team, if they are from the same division then the team with the lower finishing position of last season is the home team. The promoted teams assuming the positions of the relegated teams for the purposes of determining last seasons finishing positions.

Just switched it off, I can't stand listening to the bloke, after last years MP rant he should follow his own advice and stick to what he knows best and leave the presenting to people who can actually read of a piece of paper. Had a go at the MP for voicing his opinion whilst being publically funded when he voices his whilst being paid by a publically funded body, ****. Always quite liked him as a player but have found him to be anti-Saints when summarising a lot in the past, although he has since stopped doing that. The BBC always used to put him on Saints games for some reason. But the MP rant and now badly fronting 606 is too much for me.

There were loads, at least 10, last minute goals yesterday. First game lack of fitness & concentration, otherwsise it would ahve been a good draw.

This normally doesn't start until about October, ITV have to out out a certain amount of hours of local sport to fulfill their obligations as a public service provider, so they put out the exact minimum, which means it starts in Septemebr or October.

Its only a fiver, I've enjoyed this forum (in its different guises) for years and to my shame never paid a penny when they asked for donantions, it took this to make put my hand in my pocket but I didn't hesitate.
