To be fair you've got to give him some credit he *is* watching the ball 🤣 I recall another incident in the Leeds away game, approx 25 mins gone if anyone has a recording, and still 0-0 and we had a turnover attack. He was approx where the WHU 5 is in pic above with the whole pitch forward left of him empty and a diagonal ball from our right wing went over his head. He made a token jog to "chase" it (effectively just gave it up as a throw in) only to finally break out into a too late 5 yard fast jog as a Leeds midfielder sprinted back from half way line and got the ball before it reached the touch line. That and todays offside summed up his season. Lazy easy option every time.

Covid 4th wave abandons the season and we live to fight another year.
-
I'd like to say that was a deliberate "error" to see if you'd spot it.....but it wasn't.

BIB Not a dig at you personally but anyone who keeps regurgitating statements like that. It's been proved in the accounts over and over again that the current owner hasn't taken a penny out of the club, and KL previously IIRC only ever took a reasonable interst charge for money she loaned. There are owners at other clubs who have unashamedly been taking money out of their clubs, and those club's fans are understandably protesting, but thankfully we don't have that type of owner here. (Although it could be argued we make bugger all money for them to be able to take it anyway)

Maybe not the result but I think tomorrow could be the most important performance. We could still finish anywhere from 17th to 12th depending on results but for me tomorrows performance could say a lot about next season. Who is really up for proving to the boss they want to be part of it next season and who is going to treat is as a counting the days to the beach (good luck with that this year lads) dead rubber.

......Eagle, Royal Oak, Kingsland Tavern , Wig&Pen/Running Horse. I'm sure we're only missing about a dozen or so between us of long lost matchday pubs.

I like that a lot. And the shadow chevrons instead of in your face contrasting ones on the sleeve are a great touch. Gives me high hopes for our kit(s)- but I just don't like stripes.

BIB Think you're right there. Just shows how fragile a players career can be. A year ago probably a dead cert for his first major international tournament and Covid puts paid to that. A year on, and even with rose tinted SaintsSpecs on you'd be picking plenty ahead of him on current form/fitness. Similar to JayRod who looked nailed on for a World Cup place until one dodgy landing and his career was, whilst not excatly ended, but fair to say he was never the same player again.

I'm still waiting for someone to pull a muscle on his way up again and need substituting before kick off. I wonder how quickly it's continuation would get "reviewed" then.

Adams confirmed in Scotland squad for the Euros. Like to think he'll gain extra experience but they're unlikely to get more than 3 games before they're on their way home again.
-
Maybe he saw Redmond getting picked week after week and assumed that was what's epected of him.

Has Mike Dean (or any other ref) managed to explain his decision to give Liverpool a free kick (which started the move from which they scored) when he got in their way against WBA the other day?
-
I wonder if Pep still rates him as highly as he did at the time of the end of game cuddle-chat. City's for £40m or we'll take that young development prospect Foden in exchange.😂

Any likelihood of us wearing the new kit in any of the games left this season? See Chelsea have already announced they are doing that. Can't see UA would give a toss if we did and no change in sponsorship issues.
-
I though similar ( well, not suggesting he first heard about it there) when I read same article this morning. That new line up doesn't really have a place for him apart from odd games where the opposition may warrant us attacking via the left wing instead of the right. Could see him spending a lot of time on the bench with that formation. May explain the part of his goodbye statement.
-
The flaw in that plan is we improve him sufficiently to be a replacement for Ings in a years time, he'll be off to a bigger club as well a year later. And so it goes on. Untill we can prove to players that we have the ambition we had under Cortese (I know he was flashing someone else's cash but the ambition was there) to at least have a realistic try at trying to win things/qualify for Europe regularly then it's never going to end

They may bring in the same points total but they are not the same thing at all. Taking it to simplified extremes :- A)Winning your first 19 games losing the next 19 games, B)winning all your homes whilst losing all aways, and C) losing your first 19 then winning the last 19 would all give a highly respectable 57 points. I'd consider B = a half decent season, succesful but clearly something was going wrong away from home, with a bit of tweaking the away results could be improved on next season whilst maintaining home form C= Half a decent season as the disastrous first half can be written off as whatever was going wrong has been put right (and I always maintain a team that finishes a season strongly carries that on into the next season *) A= Neither. Can't consider the first half as decent if all that went well druring that period has been lost/forgotten/changed/nullified by opposition without any suitable tactical response. And unfortunately * the opposite also applies.

Do we know he lost the captaincy? Did he just not get it back after coming back from an injury? Or maybe he simply didn't want the extra off-field responsibility such as interviews/marketing etc that goes with the role.
-
They've clearly been missing it at all those lockdown games you've been unable to attend this year. Could you try rubbing it harder when forced to watch on tv, and maybe do it at kick off . For what it's worth, no, leave the badge alone.
-
I've always hoped that with his business interests outside of football the "can't be bothered moving" would keep him here. Also thought that he'd go on to become a good coach or manager in years to come, but maybe those same business interests woulsd get in the way of that.

Keep the system but change it to a set number of appeals per team per game. No appeal, no check. There's just no need for them to go looking for something wrong when both sides have accepted a goal has been scored, Offsides are fact - i.e 1mm or 50cm, either you're offside or you're not. At the end of the day, .before VAR how many serious protests were there from players on the pitch if an erroneous offside was given/not given. a few raised arms, a few dirty looks at the linesman the odd crowding of the ref to go and speak to him, But generally there was a reluctant acceptance that if it was close enough that the defenders thought it was off and lino thought on, or vice versa then it was really to close to call. It's only the studio pundits with their constant replays of "controversial" incidents that created a fake demand for VAR. Fouls and handballs can be a bit more contentious , generally players know if either has genuinely been missed by the ref ( even though they'll still shout for it anyway). But again, how often are the real obvious ones missed? One captain's appeal per side per half should cover it.

Also Hummel's arrows/chevrons/whatever they call them are on top of the shoulder not forward facing, so from that view seen in the photo exactly half should be visible. And they only put them on shoulder nowadays, not down the sleeve as well.
-
Hard to judge really. We've only used him as a stop gap, as did Liverpool. Had we signed him permanently he might have played more regularly and/or in a more suited role. But from what I have seen of him while he's been here I'd say there's likely to be better suited options out there.
-
I see he's started the last half dozen Fulham games. Assuming he can't play against us?
-
That was a weird moment. Took a decent shot, almost on target. Next thing we see he's literally just walking off whilst play went on . Obviously off screen he must have signalled a pull or something to the bench but on tv it looked like he just gave up out of frustration or boredom. (Not suggesting for one second that was the case). Hopefully we'll see plenty more of him but have to admit, when watcing it I thought exactly the same as you.
