  1. So it wouldn't even be a level playing field to start with, some teams getting paid more than others to participate. Sounds like it would have as much to do with sport as WWE wrestling. #ItsNotFootbalAnymore
  2. Jesus, for the sanity of everyone else who has to read this shit (yes I lnow there's an ignore button) give it a fucking rest.
  3. He must know he was lucky to get away with that. Hopefully will make him hesitate for a split second before committing himself next game, often that's all the time an attacker neds. Or even morehopefully the referees union will decide some karma is needed and be looking for any reason to right a wrong. One thing I would put money on, this won't be this seasons first 0-0 draw.
  4. And then someone not realising why would have asked " Is he injured already then?" MLG gave the perfect answer.
  5. Didn't it take something like 24 appearances for them first time round before he got his first win? You'd think 3-0 up with 20 minutes left it was a pretty safe re-debut 😂
  6. Sounds like it might have been worth £15 to watch it ...... not that I ever even considered it at that price. Great point. Would have taken that at the start, could only dream of it at 0-2.
  7. And presumably anyone that stumps up the cash will share the cost with several mates all turning up to watch, breaking the 6 persons in one place rule. Seeing as ManU & Liverpool were proposing £250m to the EFL and the clubs eventually agreed on nearer £50m, maybe the big 2 would like to give £100m each to BT & Sky in return for them broadcasting these games for free. (They're going to need to do something to regain any modicum of respect from fans of the other 18 clubs). In other news I'm just waiting for Elvis to fly past my house on a pig before going off to buy my Euromillions lotterty ticket
  8. Doesn't matter. The other teams in the league we'd be left playing in would also see the same drop in wages/budget, so we'd be in a level playing field (ignoring bigger incomes from bigger crowds at some clubs). Wherever the Big6 end up would be where the "superstars" would end end up playing, but we'd be playing in a league where fans of every club could start each season thinking they had a chance of winning the thing. I know which one I'd prefer us to play in
  9. Definiteley a case of the current "big boys" realising there are people out there looking to invest in the remaining clubs and are running scared that new money is going to start levelling the playing field. Even in the relatively short history of the PL we have only recently talked of a Big 6, before that it was only the Big 4. They're clearly worried that that could soon become a Big 10/12/whatever. Maybe they should allocate votes on current league positions - I'm sure the 2 Manchester clubs would be only too happy to agree 🤣

So it's Craig David, Lucy Pinder or Gavyn Davies. Think I know where I'd put my money out of those three.
  12. Just seen that Robson-Kanu actually broke his arm against us on Sunday. How did he manage it? Only saw one replay but looked to me like he kicked his own wrist with his follow through.
  13. I used to be like you. Then I realised all the accidents I heard about only ever happened to other people so I stopped worrying about it.
  14. Everton now looking for a keeper to put pressure on Pickford (christ knows how bad he would look if he felt under pressure!) Well, as we're already talking to them anyway .....
  15. For someone who takes his Fantasy Team pretty seriously this season so far is proving an absolute nightmare. In the real world it's looking like it could be the most enjoyable and interesting season for god knows how long, certainly since the PL started.

Is it tempting fate to suggest it's time to lock this thread?
  17. "Hey Google, What day is it tomorrow" Usually pretty reliable
  18. Shhhhhh. No news is good news when it comes to Saints and negotiations. And be patient, tomorrow is Friday
  19. That paper (I've omitted the "news" part) seems to have 4 recurring themes Weather prdiction - Hottest/Coldest/Wettest/Stomiest Princess Diana Cancer - prevents/causes (often what prevents it then causes it a few months later and vice versa) House prices to plummet/surge I'm sure that it's in the editor's contract that all 4 have to be headlined at least one a month Back on topic, even if it snows it's not that difficu;t to clear a pitch or prevent it getting covered in the first place. Most postponements seem to be for the safety of fans in and around the stadiums (stadia ??) No fans, fewer reasons to call a game off.
  20. Pointless comment. The same applies if we do nothing. Every business transaction carries some element of risk, if it didn't no company would ever fail. Conversely no company would ever grow beyond average either.
  21. Confused me too, that's why I posted it. Should have been a line saying "Can someone explain how/why?" but couldn't be arsed to try and edit it on my phone. I can only assume it means the debt would be his (or his companies) so technically not SFC debt, but secured by his shares in club and/or club assets which would then pass to lender in case of default. Presumably they (lender) could then decide to recover costs asap (firesale) or continue running club in attempt to recoup money long term.
  22. From Dan Sheldon's article about this potential takeover in The Athletic... " If DaGrosa borrows money to buy Southampton, will that not put the club at risk if it goes wrong? In theory, no. Because Southampton aren’t a publicly listed company, buyers won’t be able to use the club as leverage like the Glazers did with Manchester United. DaGrosa would need to have the capital already in the bank before Gao could sell. Because of this, any money lent to him would not be held against Southampton, it will be the American’s concern."
  23. Complicated? Of course it's complicated. It's the Southampton Way. We don't do things simple.

Thought Steve may have cracked it but been really bad again the last few days. Don't know which is more annoying, not being able to get on at all, or getting on but finding no new posts to read since last time you managed to as nobody else has been able to get on either.

Seem to get on every time now. The initial page load seems to hang about 30 secs before any, thing appears but once it's loaded swapping between topics/next page etc as quick as could hope for. Not sure what you've done to it @stevegrant but it's a 👍 from me* *Subject to review after today's match thread gets going
