To be fair that's a pretty comprehensive answer. But surely it's not beyond them to come up with some kind of "Register your interest" scheme for away games. Not to guarantee a ticket, and no obligation to purchase but if fans could make it known they want to go to certain away game(s) that could be indicated to the club as early as possible and give them a better idea of numbers. Current form and/or tv schedules will always mean some won't decide until nearer the time but there always some games that people pick because of the opposition, or the location, or just down to time of year, and that could be entered as soon as the fixtures come out. It won't be accurate but at least it may indicate a demand trend to the ticket office.

Another great article in The Athletic yesterday about JWP and his new found "toughness". Even greater title "Southampton's Secret 5h1thouse"

In these days of Political Correctness can we still request implementation of Rule 1 ?

Palace 0-2 Saints. Wild celebration reaction thread.

Read that yesterday, it was a good article. Really emphasised how good his all round team play is. It mentioned that despite not being the tallest around he has won more aeriel duels per 90 minutes than any other PL player this season. If only he was a natural finisher as well, he'd probably be up there among the best attacking players in the league. -
Ralph did joke the other day we have been performing so much better away that he enquired as to whether we could wear the grey kit at home. At least he laughed afterwards, I assume he was joking.

Watched it and enjoyed it. The best bit for me was not necessarily the answers themselves, but that I felt all 4 were giving honest open answers and not just following the corporate line. Gave the impression they'd be just as happy if one of us stopped them in the street and asked a few questions. Couldn't help thinking how a similar meeting would have gone with some of our past personnel fielding the questions. Lowe, Cortese, Kruger, Reed, Redknapp, Hughes, Lallana just a few that spring to mind. Would have needed a spotlight and thumbscrews to get anywhere near a straight answer from that lot.

Not the best quality photos if they hope to get people recognising them. Was it particularly foggy that evening?

Whilst I agree with the margin for error argument, I can't understand why that diagram uses Frame A "Passer has not touched the ball" and Frame B "Passer has already touched the ball." Frame B shows ball still in contact with passer's boot. Surely no pass has been made until it has left his boot, so yet another Frame C is required for accurate comparison.

Night before a game? Throw the book at them. Any other time, not a problem, probably even beneficial as a chance to get their mind off on-pitch problems for a while

Nope. Our only other Amazon game this season is away to Chelsea on Boxing Day

The all new relegation priced thread 2019 (it gets earlier every year!).

Sounds right to me. -
Think he just needs that confidence boost that will come with his first goal. There was one cross from Cedric (I think ) on the right that fizzed across the 6 yard box about 2 yards in front of him. A player with confidence would have gambled and been on the end of it but you could almost sense he was just holding back a fraction. Guess that also comes with not being a regular, Ings would probably have expected Cedric to put it exactly where he did, Adams needed to wait and see, by which time t was too late. Still think he'll come good for us, but he's oing to take time.

Checked all my TV settings before tonight's game. First half was worse than yesterday, poor quality pic and constant buffering after the half hour mark. At half time I checked the back of the TV and my nice yellow lead was nowhere to be seen, so TV streaming via WiFi ( which to be fair should be sufficient to handle it). Found it, hardwired tv back to my router and absolutely perfect for the rest of the game. Lesson learned, check the obvious first, it's usually that

Did anyone else watch any of Amazon's coverage last night? Watched 10 minutes of Palace v Bournemouth and gave up. Not because of the game but the picture quality. Can't put my finger on it but it just doesn't seem right. Not techy enough to know if it is down to frame rate, speed of streaming or the way it's filmed but it just felt wrong. Maybe down to mt equipment ? 50" HD smart tv, watched via the app on the tv. Can't really explain it, it was almost a dreamlike quality, to the eye it was like the players were always a split second slower than the ball. Seen similar definition (for want of a better word) in films, seems ok then but maybe sport is simply to fast action for it (whatever "it" is). I'll be watching our game tonight because it's us, but if that's the normal quality it's not something I'd subscribe to permanently.

When SMS was built the club intended the Chapel to be the "home" end anyway. Why our supporters decided to dilute whatever noise they make by splitting into sections either side of the away fans has always been beyond me. I was in Chapel for the England v Kosovo game. It was listed when booking as the "home" end . Great atmosphere in that end that night, couldn't help thinking that that was SMS could have been like for every game

I firmly believe what you are saying. It works in politics, it works for big business, why wouldn't a football club use the same tactics. The one thing I don't get is why the papers/media go along with it. There's nothing they like better than a scoop or exclusive that they are first to reveal. If we can see through it surely there comes a time when a sports editor sits back and thinks "hang on, every story that club x feeds us turns out to be ******, next time they send us one just bin it". Or are they that desperate for stories they'll knowingly print sh1te? -
First team shirts currently on offer at 30% off, just in time for Xmas. Bit early in the season for that, did they not shift enough early due to the delivery delay or has it simply not been a good seller this year?

Can we deduce from that that he is someone currently involved at international level whose current contract expires at the end of Euro qualifying rounds? -

Surprised myself there, got them all with just under 5 minutes to spare. Think the trick is to ignore the hints and just keep entering names that probably beat us and only go back to the hints once you can't think who you've missed. Works for me anyway -
Big Dave Merrington giving them the hairdryer treatment via the medium of radio. He's not a happy man.
