  1. This. A million times, this.
  2. It's not different every game, but even assuming if it is then he's the one consistent, he should be the dominant one taking charge in every situation. Just not seeing that from him
  3. BIB: Is that true? If so, as a percentage or actual numbers?. Either way watching on tv yesterday once again if I couldn't see it with my own eyes I'd have assumed we were playing away. A while ago there were mutterings from the players that SMS wasn't intimidating enough. Away teams must search us out on the fixture list for an easy day out, on *and* off the pitch.
  4. Being an eternal optimist I can sum up that performance in one word Worrying!
  5. So that's us, Bournemouth and Brighton on the South Coast all investing in stadium and/or training facilities with an eye to the future competing to be top dog in the area. Hang on though, wasn't there a fourth "big club" on the South Coast. Name escapes me for a moment. Whatever happened to them?
  6. I've always sang "we only drink whisky, we only drink brown" (that's brown ale for our younger readers - is that even still a thing?). Rhymes with town ok but being a pedant I always that that was an erroneous use of the word "only"
  7. Replace "Sweet Caroline" with the perfect fit of "We're Southampton" and we could make it our own
  8. Another favourite of mine (not suggesting we copy it) that has nothing to do with the team, a player or even football but still sounds great (and unique)
  9. Said the same as BIB every time this topic comes up. Atmosphere doesn't have to be just about songs, encouraging/intimidating "noise" would have far more efffect on our players and the opposition than a simple sing-a-long. Get behind the day, frighten the opposition, don't just sit on your hands and wait to gently applaud something after it happens Also said many times think of any song that any club sings that gets the whole ground joining in. They are always slower songs with drawn out notes that enables others around the ground to work out what's being sung and gives them the chance to join in. (Our retro slower version of OWTSGMI case in point). Too many of ours are sung at a rapid machine gun speed and are over before they've got going.

    Our Support

To be fair they've got about 125 years of catching up to do. Rumour has it out fans were quiet as church mice at the 1902 FA Cup Final replay. Servants and workhouse kids couldn't get the day off, too many Ladies (with accompanying ladies-in-waiting) and venison pie brigade and apparently no-one knew we hated Pompey back then so we had no songs.
  11. We did it to Hoddle we can do it again is it right, if we don't concede in the first 25 minutes we set a new club record for away clean sheets?

    Che Adams

Reluctantly transferred Adams out of my Fantasy team today. Past experience means we can now expect a man-of-the-match hat-trick performance from him tomorrow.
  13. Even weirder it was originally posted by a WestHam fan. Although is bio says he's engaged to a girl with the same surname so maybe he has Portsea connections.
  14. Not to mention placing cheeky online insurance bets mid-game
  15. Lovely goal .... but I can imagine back in the dressing room RH giving him a bollocking . WTF was a right back doing there?
  16. In Eisner's first get together with his new board he asked why they weren't playing their great rivals Southampton more often and suggested creating a new cup that they could compete against each other for every season:mcinnes: True story.
  17. We've now reached that time of the day as kick off approaches when my mindset changes from "It's just another game" to nervous anticipation and a "we have to smash them " attitude.
  18. Got to a first for this place - unanimous on this week's scapegoat. RH has to take the blame for this one. Any PL match, let alone one with the chance to go third, is *not* the time to be experimenting. Even more so after he saw how quickly he needed to change things last week. Hopefully he is now clear in his mind on one thing. However he *wants* to play, he needs to accept that with current personnel our best defence is Cedric/Valery Yoshida Bednarek Bertrand and they should be starting every game when fit. And unless the opposition tactics deliberately restrict the forward runs of the 2 full backs, that's still one of our best attacking options too.
  19. Why would anyone need resting? 8pm Friday > 7.45pm Tuesday (possible pens but no extra time, in a game we should win in second gear) > 3pm Saturday. Even the traveling time for the 2 aways is pretty minimal. If they can't manage those 3 games without needing a rest (genuine injuries aside) they really shouldn't be playing at this level.
  20. Hey this is Saints we're talking about. I'd feel safer at 15-0 up with 6 minutes to play.
  21. Saw Pompey supporting friend last night. He's not bothered getting a ticket as he can't bear to watch us thrash them. His prediction 4-0 to us. Guess they're not all deluded after all.

    VAR

I was listening to 606 on Saturday, they were insisting the opposite, that Premier League has decreed the flag *should* be raised for offside but the referee won't whistle for it unless it's obvious. Guess we'll all get the hang of it eventually.
  23. But surely they all burn up those excess calories roaring on their team, singing their hearts out and making SMS that intimidating fortress that opposition players and fans alike fear to enter. Then again ......
  24. Neither of them have PayPal so they couldn't order a new one from EBay
  25. The original delay anouncement stated it wasn't UA's fault( nor SFC not the sponsor) but a third party issue, and again this was reiterated at the recent forum. Maybe these cheap ones on offer are the real deal but we're "intercepted" whilst being delivered. Can't think what 3rd party apart from the shipping company could be responsible for a delay
