There's not many games at this level where a team isn't in danger of losing at some stage during the 90 minutes. The important point is they DIDN'T lose those games. They COULD have been 3-0 down in the semi - most teams at this level will create/allow a few chances during a game, the important point was they weren't. They didn't play the youngest team to reach a semi final, they played them in the final. Agreed they wern't a brilliant team, butnor where many others. I felt that this years WC was a bit like the PL when Leicester won it with nobody really outstanding, France were deserved winners and Croatia deservedly second.

Indeed, he's always been under-rated as a player but as a "person" he's head and shoulders above many in his attitude to both himself and the game. I've read his book, the effort and commitment he has put in over the years to keep improving deserves success. Compare with Neymar whose talent seems to come naturally but as a person seems to be a total kn0b.

Any keepers out there? What would you have done? His lob straight to the forward was atrocious but for me the even bigger mistake was as soon as he saw what he'd done he went backwards. Surely a better option was immediately charge at Rebic spreading arms and legs as wide as possible and screaming his head off, anything to put him off. It was such a slow up and down lob chances are he'd have been on him before he volleyed it, certainly close enough to distract him. Having said that, it was a very enjoyable moment

I feel the same (about the kit, not Prowse). In the photos of players (and the Aussie fan) wearing them the red area across the top of the chest looks much smaller than in the leaked photos on hangers . And the collar looks a better shape as well, in the hanger photo the black collar seemed to merge into a black inner back panel or something giving it a weird blocky shape. Still don't like stripes, still wouldn't buy one but definitely liking it more the more I see it.

Assuming the same squad as well, in his short spell he showed he could get more out of them than MO could (both tactically and attitude/effort wise) Think Hughes would have won the same games MP won. Without being over optimistic I think he'd have secured at least an additional 5 wins among our 15 draws, and another 5 draws among our 16 defeats Which, whilst not spectacular would have put us 8th comfortably above Everton and just behind Burnley

Read this last week on holiday. About half the book is about his time here. Not that you'll learn much about the club. It's really about his constant striving to improve himself as a player, from childhood to present day (up to date enough to mention MH arrival but not staying up so ). He really does seem one hell of a committed guy, deserves any success he achieves in his career.
