I get the impression MP is telling players to sit back and they - Cedric in particular - are pointedly ignoring him.

1) Our kits are nice this season. 2) ummmm.....

Agree with above 2 posts, at a time when we are desperate for some on pitch leadership we seem to have a squad full of introverts playing (personality, not tactically) in their own little bubble. I agree, Yoshida is probably the only one who springs to mind that cares enough to instill some fight in those around him. He should be first choice for the rest of the season - who he replaces, you may as well toss a coin.
-
Plenty of managers have "lost the dressing room" but has there ever been a case of a team getting together and collectively ignoring a manager's instructions once out on the pitch? I am coming to the conclusion that that approach by the players is our only hope,of survival.

And a thank you from me as well. 100% improvement on both the standard web version and Tapatalk. We can't be the only 3 unaware of that setting, someone make this info a sticky.

Should be a simple HT talk. "Right lads, all I want you to do is go out there for 45 minutes and forget everything I've ever told you so far this season."

Net spend over the last 2 season's transfer windows.
Wurzel replied to cobbysouth's topic in The Saints
The one thing you are forgetting to take into account is that transfers - in and out - are usually spread over 3 to 5 years. So your £47m profit over 2 seasons probably relates to something like £9-12m per year. And most of that would have been wiped out if the Promes signing had gone through. Then again we would probably still be receiving - and making - payments from the previous 2 or 3 seasons as well in that period. Impossible to say for sure without seeing the full accounts but one thing IS for sure - no-one, not even an owner, can simply "pocket" £1 , let alone £50m , from a limited company without it appearing in the audited accounts somewhere. -
So you could have used exactly the same set of figures to show us a) 6th in money spent this window. b) 2nd in money received this window but you chose c) 20th in the net spend this window. I think we all know which direction your "spin" spins
-
So we're 6th highest spenders this window then (so far). I guess that's not the point you were trying to make though.
-
Why? He was Plan B. We still thought Walcott was coming back then.

No way was that Mick Channon ....... 3 whole minutes and he never swore once
-
Nah, he failed as he was left up front on his own whilst the rest of his crew were held back in defence. None were able to make the killer pass and slide the matches through to him as he was isolated whilst surrounded by 4 of the opposition. If the plotters had played a 4-4-2 system the world would be a different place today.

How many times a day are you visiting this site at the moment? Normally once a day is (more than) enough, but currently I must be revisiting it hourly in expectation of seeing a new sticky entitled "X signs 5 year deal" or "Y comes on loan for rest of season". They say it's the hope that kills you.

1) Back in the summer did you Sell a substantial spread on number of goals we'd score during the season? 2) How furious were you that we'd already scored 2 by half time on Saturday? 3) Are you aware that the phrase "What goes up must come down" only relates to gravity. It is not an excuse for a crap season.

Pub Quiz question for the future: "Who were the only club ever to be relegated from the PL due to a typo?"
-
Redknapp. Whatever the problem I'll always blame Redknapp.

Great player for us, had a brilliant understanding with Wayne Bridge. CMFG would receive the ball and pass it on to WB without looking up, he always seemed to know where he'd be. The fabled Black Box worked wonders in those days unearthing unknown talents. Oh wait, it hadn't even been invented back then.
-
No, it doesn't. If you by a car on finance you pay a deposit "up-front" and the rest as staged payments. One lump sum would be described as "outright". The whole phrase "up front" indicates it's the first, initial, front (however you want to describe it) payment with more to come .
-
Think you are showing a misunderstanding of what "up-front" means. In VvD case we agreed - I think - £70m "up front" (i.e a guaranteed sum whatever happens) with a further £5m dependent on certain things (appearances, CL qualification etc) The £70m will be paid in 3 stages of £23.3 million, with an "initial" ( NOT up front) payment being paid now and the rest in 12 and 24 months time. The £5m as and when the dependent circumstances arise. Staged payments are the norm in transfers. It's also how we pay for players when we buy them so if, for example we wanted to buy 1x£75m player today (yeah, right) or 3x£25m players, it shouldn't affect our buying ability in any way. No lies. nothing unusual, move along please.

What would damage his reputation more - getting one appointment wrong (and dealing with it in a timely manner), or getting us relegated.? If I was LR I know which one I'd be more concerned about.

"Sack Pellegrino It's time to sack Pellegrino" (to tune of Guantanamera (There's only one ....) Flexible, can change to "Sack Pellegrino For **** sake sack Pellegrino" once Fulham go 2-0 up
-
Much as don't want any of our players banned don't think there is any option but to ban him . Looked 100% deliberate from every angle I've seen it. Respect to their keeper for making little or no fuss about it - maybe he was too dazed at the time.
-
That is correct. Giving them just 2 days to make plenty of copies

We could well have been stood in the same crowd. As a kid that would be part of my Saturday evening ritual too, quick run down to Woolston (after Basil Brush I seem to recall ) and a slow walk back due to trying to study the league tables whilst walking and trying to finish my sweets before I got back home. And the feeling of utter shame having to return home one day to tell Dad they had sold out before I could get one ( the shopkeeper explained print run problems meant they received far fewer that evening, but it still felt like some kind of failure) Like others I was always amazed it could be printed and distributed so quickly even allowing for the fact that it was only the outside cover that carried anything related to that days events. Still not quite as impressive as jumping off our coach whilst it was still queuing to get out of the Wembley complex to buy (probably) an Evening Standard with a report of our Cup Final win from a street vendor. Not bought one in years now, sadly another victim of the digital age.
