  1. Yuliua Skripal makes a call to her cousin and a couple of hours later a recording is broadcast on Russian state media. That tells you a lot about the 'game' being played in Moscow
  2. That probably wouldn't have much effect now. According to David Lammy this morning street dealing is now old hat. People order via snapchat or other social media and the drugs are delivered by courier. The police need a whole new social media team (assuming they can deal with the encryption issue) and focus more on moped riders
  3. and under the same law the executions must be authorised by the President.
  4. Santa Monica is nice - got a pier, good beach, restaurants and shops. Very walkable too. Six Flags is the best theme park if you like roller coasters, otherwise Universal. Give Disney a miss imo. San Luis Obsipo can be fun on Thursdays when its Farmers market and all the Caltech students are ****ed - but thats probably a trip for without the family. Joshua Tree National Park is good for a walk. Alternatively take a boat out on Big Bear lake.
  5. £67.90 family of four two adults two kids day return Southampton to Waterloo with rail card. If you drive to Richmond you still have to get to central London - which is about another £25.
  6. If you're going to central London just go on the train. Almost certainly, quicker, cheaper and easier
  7. Sending diplomats / spies home is really only symbolic. but the fact that 25 countries acted in concert is a powerful message to Putin to change his approach. Its designed, along with sanctions, to be a big shot across the bows rather than an attempt to sink the ship. If the west wanted to cause chaos in Russia it could cut them off from the internet or SWIFT banking system. PS Don't buy into the Russian narrative that any Russians in Eastern Ukraine are volunteers on holiday from the military and the equipment they use was captured from Ukrainian bases. There is a good citizens observatory who document Russian military units and their equipment. Nearly all of the officers in the militias are on formal rotation from Russian regular forces and much of the equipment units use was never sold to Ukraine or used by them. Maskirovka (denial and deception) has been an intrinsic part of Russian military doctrine for 100 years
  8. Presumably the Dutch government is waiting for the final report of the investigation into the incident - due later this year I think. Once the report is released I would be surprised, depending on what it says, if there isn't co-ordinated international action then too.
  9. It could be the reverse. The boyfriend deliberately paired up with her in order to gain her trust and find out where her dad was.
  10. Lots and lots of variables. Kim had it smeared directly on to his face where the skin is a lot thinner. Hands are dont absorb chemicals well. It was raining, maybe most it got washed off - water breaks down Novichok. It was cold. Maybe the Skripals were wearing gloves. Maybe they tried to use a very low dose to avoid collateral damage and the political repercussions of hundreds of dead in Salisbury. Maybe they thought having them live on as vegetables was more effective than killing them.
  11. Erm. Or someone smeared the stuff on the door handle and left.

  13. Walking your kids to school doesn't count as a date Johnny.
  14. It was clearly intended as a message - as was the Polonium 210. If there was simply a desire to kill without drawing attention they would have used a 'suicide', 'accident' or heart attack method. The same thing happened to a former Ukrainian President when he failed to do what Putin wanted. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1123026/Ukrainian-president-Victor-Yushchenkos-ugly-poison-scars-disappear.html
  15. Arguably they should only sell tickets to season tickets holders of the finalist clubs and the local host city club. Thats a different issue though.
  16. Don't worry, its all about to collapse, tomorrow, or possibly the day after.
  17. Thanks, I may well do that - but I want to look into the options of going first. I also have a good AirBNB apartment 500m from the ground booked for only £30 per night. Those places are going for ten times that now.
  18. Im no Corbyn fan - but he is undoubtedly principled. But he is also a democrat - which means he bends a bit if the majority of the front bench disagree with him. The trouble is he also lacks good judgment and seems a bit shambolic at times.
  19. Cheers VFT . There are four categories this year. Ive got the third (second from bottom) 160 euros each. Where would you sell them? do you know if they check ID when you go in?
  20. I've got two tickets to the final in Kiev in May - which is obviously great. The problem is that the the tickets are supposedly non transferable, it has to be the individual named at time of application- and the mate who was going to go with me now can't. Does anybody have any experience / advice on how strictly the named person rule will be enforced at the ground? Do you think they will check ID? Do you think I could, for example, go with another guy but taking my girlfriend would be too obvious?
  21. Its not particularly right wing socially or even economically - but it seems to give priority to corporations over individuals. There is too much tolerance of corporate takeovers based on false and unkept promises, misleading advertising, utterly dishonest merchandising and mendacious media. More attention needs to be paid to consumer protection and ethical standards
  22. It could do if you take it down to Mexico or most of central America
  23. If its anything like Kiev and the Champions League final prices will be sky high when matches are on. Apartments for that weekend are going for 8-10 times their normal price
  24. Obviously i wasn't including Saturday nights in the stat )
