  1. Yep, Chaplow's goal was superb, really well taken. I think he'd been frozen out by Ferguson's son at the time and maybe had a point to prove. Man U were under the cosh for quite a while and Ferguson had to bring on Giggs who he'd been saving for the weekend game. Harding had a goal disallowed as well. The highlights dont do Saints pressure justice.

    Ebola

Dont sweat it Beasy, SaintAndy is just blagging anyway. Everyone knows common colds are rhino viruses. No wonder they're bad tempered.
  3. Its probably fair comment. Caring for disabled people is society's job. We shouldn't be forcing companies to pay people at the same rate IF they aren't equally as productive as someone recruited from the open market.
  4. Thats it at bottom line. The cost of a match ticket is more than my weekly gas, electric and water bills combined (for a 4 bed house). Thats a total reversal of what it would have been 20 years ago.
  5. We played Man U in the cup when we were in Lg1. It was a cracking match and Dan Harding was superb.
  6. It probably is a bit, but then you've got to weigh up whether you can realistically get it fixed elsewhere. No aux belt on it means you'd be driving it to another garage with no water pump, no power steering and hoping the battery lasts out - ie a recipe for disaster. Getting it trailered would eat up the price difference.
  7. You might get more money per game from 25,000 people at £40 instead of 32,000 at £30 but in the wider picture it reduces loyalty and makes it harder to sell the PL as the most desirable fantastic league in the world to places like India and China when the grounds are clearly partly empty.
  8. Whether £300 is reasonable or not depends on the cost of the new alternator, they vary a lot. You can obviously get one from a scrappie for £30 but whether its worth doing or not is another question. Should be about an hours labour to fit plus £15 or so for the belt.
  9. I love that Lydon interview, it shows Brand up for what he is - a confused and hypocritical ex junkie millionaire trying preach revolution from his mansion in Beverly Hills .
  10. Don't see how having fitties in bra tops is going to aid their focus.

    Ebola

Its a commendable post Minty, but not an accurate one. People also die right here in the UK from TB, Malaria, Hepatitis etc far more than from Ebola. Hepatitis B and C has affected 2 billion people worldwide and kills at least 1 million a year. Its 100 times more infective than HIV but gets a fraction of the coverage. The reality is that the media cover the new and ignore stories which are 'old'. Ebola is new and dramatic and we'll hear about it a lot for a few weeks. After that the story will fade away just like the Malaysian plane crashes or Japanese tsunami. Its got nothing to with 'them' and 'us'
  12. Stupid waste of money. The NHS could save or extend 300 or so lives for that instead of looking for one girl who is almost certainly already dead
  13. Its not really his fault, it happens to all the England managers after a year or so. There's something about the combination of media pressure and players who dont really want to be there or to fit into a different system to one they might play at their own clubs.
  14. I would have thought that if the aux belt had gone a whole raft of systems would have failed and the dashboard would light up.
  15. Unfortunately SOG thats the issue. What Lord D describes is exactly what you should have in a healthy democracy - one where people make informed choices based on real policies. We don't have that currently and perhaps never really did. Many, perhaps most, people vote for the wrong party based on their views. Party leader debates are a dumbing down of politics - but a dumbed down way of reaching people is better than not reaching them at all.
  16. Hes great for pulling defences out of shape and so creating space for others - which is perfect when you're playing three upfront. Even with Rodriguez back we'd only have five established players for three positions, and its a long season.
  17. Better to be swayed by first hand viewing of what politicians actually say and how they act than mediated through the prism of whatever newspaper they read wants them to think.
  18. Im not much of a skier but my kids want to learn, so we're going to Obertauern in Austria the week before Christmas. It high enough to be snowsure and predominantly blue and red runs so perfect for beginners. Will take in the Christmas market in Salzburg too.

    Ebola

Its two nurses in full kit who have been infected now, one in Spain and one in the US. Hundreds of medical staff have been infected in west Africa. It seems as though people are getting infected in the process of taking off their protective kit. I imagine they will have to introduce some kind of decontamination shower for the suits before removal.
  20. I think it is. UKIP has provided a home for those not represented elsewhere - those disaffected by Europe, immigration and career politicians. The mainstream parties will react and move to provide some fig leaf compromise policies whilst divisions will open up within UKIP over the mainstream issues of welfare, health, tax & spend etc. It will be like the SDP in the early 1980s and the Greens in the Euro elections all over again.
  21. I think you'll have a good time in York. The Lake District is best for walking and scenery. Theres a guide to car free visiting here http://www.nationalparks.gov.uk/visiting/car-free-guides/lake-district
  22. Ive never understood the attraction of Stonehenge either, its not that impressive. If you want to see ancient monuments go to Skara Brae or Jarlshof in the Shetlands and Orkneys which were built 1,000 years before Stonehenge. If you want stone circles without the traffic and tourists go to Avebury ring. West Kennet Long Barrow near Stonehenge is worth a visit. Its worth checking out the series of documentaries 'Standing with Stones' on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=standing+with+stones
  23. Good call. VRBO is great too. http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/europe/france
  24. Au contraire Ive got it on now. Its way better than Porridge repeats.
  25. You told us Hall was reputable source who put together a thorough balanced assessment of the McCann case that we should devote 4 hours to. Id have thought his programmes on Ananarchians planting the human race on Earth to do their dirty work (hiding the Holy Grail) was relevant info.
