We'd need more than £100m to be reasonably sure of CL and have the squad depth to play the extra games - and even then we couldn't afford the wages. It will be interesting to see how much effect the financial fair play / English player rules have. I think the effect will be cumulative and the current gap will reduce a bit over time.

Inducements for cup games would work, but what we really want is more people getting the regular habit of coming to nearly every game. Maybe a bigger price differential between the prime seats and those in the back rows of the corners - keeping revenue the same but making cheaper tickets available. Also - and I hate to say it because I think its naff - maybe some kind of loyalty points scheme ala Tescos or Costa coffee buy five tickets and get one free would reward regular attendance of those who dont have the wherewithal to buy a season ticket.

It makes sense for maximising revenue now - but I'd like to see the club do more to attract younger fans - like the Bundesliga. Extend concessions to under 25s and limit the number of season tickets. Saints and most PL clubs have a really aging fan base. Its going to seriously bite us in the arse in a few years time unless something is done now.

Personally I would associate 'getting it right' with having paid off debts, buying players and being near the top of the division.

Surely Occam's Razor would indicate a technical problem rather than a convoluted chain of events of a depressed pilot fighting off his co pilot and the passengers with the aim of killing himself and 245 people, not immediately, but some seven hours later when it runs out of fuel and no-one had attempted to break the door down with an axe.

It would explain the turn for the nearest airport and the rapid reduction in altitude.

The longer it goes on the more Im convinced the plane was crippled by a fire or possibly a bomb and the crew were overcome by lack of oxygen / smoke / altitude.

I've met somebody who has in his office a picture of Vladimir Putin having a 'private' pis s against a tree in the middle of Kamchatka. That was a "lucky shot" apparently, but even so. So yes military 'spy' sateliites will have greater resolution than commercial satellites designed to photograph weather patterns etc. I guess the issue is satellites, once they're in place cant be moved so they are positioned to pick up places like airbases. Nobody is going to pay for a dedicated satellite to cover the middle of nowhere so the only shots emerging are from lower resolution commercial satellites which are primarily tasked for something else.

I got caught doing 54mph in a 40 average speed check. Apparently (according to local press) anything below 46mph they don't bother with and 46-53mph is speed awareness course. No idea if thats national or not.
