Begrudging thanks to Rupert Lowe and Southampton City Council
buctootim replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Saints
Thats just plain wrong. Lowe had a goal but had to rely on self generated income - which was a lot less than most of the clubs were were competing against. Cortese had someone else's chequebook and outspent all but the very top PL clubs. -

Didn't Lowe sort out Staplewood too? A lot of the animosity towards him is misplaced imo - he simply came along at a time when football was changing from being a club to being a business. He didnt create that change. -
The match writeup on the BBC gives a totally different impression to the Mirror. Seem to suggest forgive and forget. "Southampton captain Kelvin Davis said the club were hoping to move on following an altercation involving team-mates Dani Osvaldo and Jose Fonte. "What has happened has happened. As a team, as a squad, as a club, we are looking forward and we are very much together. "We showed that again in this game and it is something we just want to move on from. It is something we want to move on and concentrate on what happens out there [on the pitch]. "Our dressing room is as solid as it has ever been and it will continue to be so." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25789059 Edit: Actually just watched the Saint player interview. He goes on to say we have a great dressing room spirit and if people dont want to be a part of that they aren't welcome.

Most on here rated him above Fonte before MP came in.
-
Thats what they are doing, the mods have banned him.

Some sort of loan swap with Inter would be the most obvious, they've got loads of strikers. Palacio would be great if they would let him go.

Basically a very divided country from east to west. East is Russian speaking and looks to Russia, West is Ukrainian and look to Europe.

The Willowtree?
-
Were they? tbh I didnt check. Ive been to their ground which is no bigger than SMS and last time i looked they were 7th or 8th in La Liga
-
Of course it would be different. Oddly enough spending £13m and getting a goal a game striker is different to spending £13m and getting somebody who scores three, gets banned for assaulting a trainer and then smacks up a teamate.

Real Sociedad are no bigger than Saints though really. Obviously, Inter, Real Madrid, Bayern etc would all turn his head - Real Sociedad, not so much.
-
Yeah but would it make you happy Hatch??
-
This really. Combined with very pushy and usually weird parents they don't have much of a chance. He does have talent, could you do this at 15? just a shame hes become an arse.

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

Thats true - but its fallacious of GM to pretend that the case for anthropogenic climate change ignores natural variations in climate. Yes, of course, the climate has always changed naturally - climate change scientists are not unaware of past ice ages or very warm epochs. That doesn't change the fact that higher concentrations of CO2 have an insulating effect which traps more heat. A 15 tog duvet makes you warmer than a 3 tog duvet, regardless of the amount of heating in your house. Of course not every questions is settled, this is still a relatively new area of science. Increases in temperature have an effect on cloud cover; reductions in reflective snow cover; methane release from thawing permafrost; changes in ocean currents and winds; increased rainfall. Increases in CO2 have an effect on plant growth and ocean biomass. Do the current climate models synthesise these competing dynamics perfectly? no. Do we fully understand the effect of the sun? no. Does any of this contradict the overwhelming global consensus that putting more and more insulating gases into the atmosphere is a bad idea? no. Climate does change naturally and there may even be a time in the distant future when we need to pump out all the CO2 and methane we can in order to counteract the effects of a naturally cooling climate. That time isn't now. -
and its gone black.

Well done, you have found somebody with a Phd who is a climate change sceptic. How are you getting on with the "credible evidence from qualified and current or recently retired climate scientists or astrophysicists published in reputable science journals" part? -
Who's he?
-
Crossed my mind too. The Newcastle one failed to do the trick so he really went for it this time...

Never done it, but the Energy Saving Trust has good info (and a helpline I think). There are also green discussion forums you can use. Generally though the cheapest solution is better insulation. My factory insulated tank will keep water hot for five days. http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Generating-energy/Choosing-a-renewable-technology/Wood-fuelled-heating

If we can find a good enough replacement in January its hard to see the benefit in keeping him.

The sawdust logs? Yep you can buy them. I prefer actual logs, but then I only use mine as an aesthetic thing though, not as a primary source of heat.

The size of your room is what counts. If you get one too powerful its just becomes too hot and is unusable. The smaller ones, obviously, have smaller grates so make sure the logs you buy will fit in. the
