  1. Its one the reasons I want a PR system instead of first past the post. Critics say it will lead to weak coalition government. I think it will actually lead to people thinking more about the candidate when they vote, instead of the party - and in the long run actually get better people standing for election.
  2. They are the only ones whose votes really count. Everybody else is just background noise.
  3. The guy was hospitalised with bites and broken ribs and thrown off a cliff - so I liked this phlegmatic quote from the local Russian officials who "believed the bear was probably only playing with Alchagirov, Russian media said, and thus were not planning to track down the animal.." We could do with a bit more "nah it'll be fine" approach it this country.
  4. You've broken it Bob. It was okay till you started fiddling with it
  5. Why is bottom left staying in a different hotel. Is she 'fectious?
  6. I'd start bottom left, then top right, top left and finally finish off with the bloke bottom right. Given my old git status it could take a week or so.
  7. All seems to be safe then. Heres one from my bukkake picnic stash.
  8. Next to the One Direction poster?
  9. No wonder so many drugs get through if thats what they've been trained to sniff out.
  10. Them Bletch. Them.
  11. Really nice little fans video. Not too long, well shot and edited
  12. I don't disagree with the idea of socially useful work. In principle it helps the unemployed maintain a structure to the day which helps with transition to work and also provides benefits to the organisations receiving free labour. In practice though it is hard to make it work. Those who have got useful skills and are self motivated tend not to be unemployed for long - even if that just means they organise their own volunteering. Organising worthwhile work for the long term unemployed who are often unskilled, poor literacy and numeracy, may have chaotic lifestyles and not turn up reliably is an administrative nightmare. I'm not saying dont do it - but a meaningful programme will be expensive, much more so than just paying benefits.
  13. Its an idiotic idea. It just gives free labour to private companies instead of paying overtime to existing staff or recruiting new paid staff. Shark companies who think it is okay to exploit people are able to undercut competitors which are run to higher standards. The end result is that good companies get screwed (and presumably lay people off) by companies using free labour subsidised by the taxpayer. Blind dogma, not 'a good idea'.
  14. Its not that. Its the fact that private hospitals are usually fine for routine 'conveyor belt' operations with a low risk of complication. The trouble is they don't have the facilities or backup that are standard at an NHS hospital. If anything goes wrong they will be calling an ambulance and transferring you to the local district general - maybe half an hour until you get treated for that stroke or heart attack instead of three minutes from the in house NHS hospital crash team.
  15. Are you Pap in disguise? I'd rather not say. Suffice to say I think we nailed it for my daughter, son - not so much.
  16. We tried to find names which were not going to be be picked on at school; weren't obviously of one class or another; were pronouncable or recognisable in other countries; weren't common and that we liked. Not an easy brief!
  17. There's a fashion amongst some black parents to make up new name for their children. D'brickishaw and Barkevious D'quell - really? (NFL players names)
  18. Unfortunately thats how most people assess a hospital. Complications, morbidity and mortality rates rarely get a look in.
  19. 22 convictions dating back to 1966. Just the sort of person you'd want as a BBC driver.
  20. Yes but some women buy stuff they would wear. I used to like that but decided after a while it was too effeminate. Issey Miyake now.
  21. Souled Out on Desa Sri Hartamas.
  22. Ive been to the top of Etna. Really great trip, much better than expected.
