Its a slightly bizarre idea that individuals are going to redistribute their own wealth. The vast majority of humans are basically selfish. Those who have power will make more money for themselves at the expense of other people. Thats why FTSE100 CEOs organise such huge salaries for themselves - far more than most genuine entrepreneurs who have created their own companies. You only have to look at the huge variation in what people are paid for the same jobs in different countries to see that the idea that people are paid what they're objectively worth is a fallacy. There is a lot of research showing that foreign wealth is attracted into a country by factors like low crime, high quality public infrastructure, lack of corruption and lack of visible public poverty. You don't get that investment in a country where the government allows the top 1% to screw the rest of the population.

This is a point and shoot so not to your spec but I love my Nikon Coolpix AW100. It isnt much to look at but does everything well - much more so than the more expensive Sony it replaced. 5x optical zoom, waterproof to 10m, will survive being dropped, full 1080HD video and has great quality pictures. Ive had bigger cameras in the past but found they just got left at home or in the car. Because this is small, rugged and light (and not so expensive you fear losing it) its been present at all the right moments. http://www.trustedreviews.com/nikon-coolpix-aw100_Digital-Camera_review

According to wiki: In May/June 2013 Clifford left the club, ending his 10-year involvement. Lowe entered into a partnership with American soccer academy RIASA, who were already involved with Eccleshill United.[3] RIASA agreed to release funds into the club in return for establishing a Garforth reserve team in which their students could play (the previous reserve side had dispanded a few years earlier). Another change of backroom staff saw the replacement of manager Vernol Blair with Graham Nicholas.

Sure, but again it comes down to attitude, how you process the past. Some can use experiences positively for the future and some are guilt ridden or embittered by it. There are some good quotes on the links below - one about the past and one about regret. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/past http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/regret

Im sorry tokes. I didn't realise you had money issues.

Totally agree with that. Happiness is more about a positive attitude to life and view of the world than anything else.

Aren't there two separate points here? One is about 'is there any aspect of your life that can be improved?' - and the answer is usually yes. The other is 'are you happy with your life as it is?'. Its easily possible for both to be true.

Leading companies like BASF and BP regularly divest themselves of old technology dirty plants, products with gradually declining markets or manufacturing plants with insufficient return on capital. INEOS' whole business model is buying up cheaply the legacy assets of well known companies with brands and reputations to protect and then cutting costs.

Its true, I am jaundiced about Brand. Something about him evokes a visceral dislike. I agree with his central theme that the system is flawed - but its hard to hear that message from a non resident millionaire revolutionary.

I think they tend to watch Spanish football more in Morrocco, so it might be hard to persuade a cafe bar to switch over. Al Jazeera carry PL matches.

Maybe its just me who has a problem with ex junkies promoting revolution in the UK whilst living in the Hollywood Hills earning his (lots of) money from evil capitalist films and paying his (very little) tax in the US. P'raps its an age thing.

Charities & the sh!ttest sponsorship effort you’ve ever seen?

Agree totally about avoiding eating anything which doesn't exist in nature - and personally I never buy margarine. Often these things are are a judgement call. According to the gospel that is wiki Flora was orginally created by Unilever in response to a request by cardiologists for a less harmful product than lard or hard block margarines which were common at the time. However now maybe its time the British Heart foundation reviewed its association with them. A few companies have genuine philanthropic grant giving programmes for charities which are assessed on merit separately from the company. Most however are just extensions of their marketing departments. you dont get a grant unless you can help the company look better in the marketplace. Some companies don't even put any money in and instead simply claim credit for the payroll donations their staff make or customers donate. One example - the chain of Ronald McDonald Houses provide overnight accommodation for parents whose children are long term sick in hospital. Its a hard call to say whether hospitals should accept the facility. At what point is the benefit outweighed by the implicit endorsement that the company with damaging products is actually a 'good thing' for society and everyone should buy their stuff? -

That's a sweeping generalisation. There are around 800,000 charities in the UK - everything from kids playgroups and coffee mornings which are entirely staffed by volunteers to large enterprises like the National Trust and Oxfam who employ thousands. Every charity has its own management and policies about accepting corporate or government money - the one I work for does neither because it doesn't want to feel compromised if it needs to campaign against some aspect of their policies. If you are going to give regularly to a charity, which is great, look into it a bit. Read the annual report and check out sources of funding - usually downloadable from here http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/find-charities/ The Flora thing Im not sure about - but suspect its based on the fact that Flora used to contain trans fats, which its doesn't any more. It still contains palm oil though - being made from olive oil would be better.
