  1. Very good. You have comprehended the point of the post, congrats. The rumour mill is an unreliable guide to what happens at the club.
  2. Agree totally we've over relied on Lambert and Lallana and struggled without them. That is being addressed - Sharp, Lee and Rodriguez are much stronger than Papa Waigo, Paul Wotton and Simon Gillett. Its not the finished article by a long way, but I like the approach of having goals coming from a much larger number of players - its makes it harder to mark teams out of the game.
  3. For most of the time during Le Tiss' career we'd have been relegated without him. But this current team is stonger than the one which was good enough to survive for three or four years after Le Tiss had either retired or was fading fast physically.
  4. You dont know that. The only facts are Cortese was chairman when both Pardew and Adkins were appointed. One of the rumour mills has it that it was ML who wanted Pardew gone and Cortese who resisted it.
  5. Pardew was his own choice.
  6. Thats the "give it to Le Tiss" model though. One or two great players with the rest of the teams main function being to collect the ball and give to them. It works to a degree, but I prefer the much more even spread of ability throughout the team - no obvious stars and no obvious weaknesses that the opposition can target.
  7. You cant reliably build a top half team in one close season - it would mean swapping out too many players and you end up with an expensively assembled collection of players, not a team who understand and play for each. Too many clubs have tried and failed to take that shortcut. 14th, 15th ,16th is realistic - cant see us falling into the relegation places at seasons end - even if we are there after four games.
  8. Its inevitable you'll have that feeling at the back of your mind, but there is nothing you could have done. Some people have abusive childhoods and end up with a warped view of relationships. In their world explosive, tempestuous and manipulative behaviour equates to real love and treating someone as an equal with respect and tenderness is 'kind' but not 'real' love. Often you cant overcvome what people have had imprinted during childhood.
  9. Got a friend who lives on the west coast near Mull. They made their holiday home their into their main home. Even after five years he still really struggles with the light - can be endless grey, rainy days even during the summer.
  10. Histrorically the Chancellor has always been independent of the policy making cabinet and Prime Minister - hence the title first Lord of the Treasury. It was set up that way to stop extravagant politicans bankrupting the nation (yes, I know). Gordon Brown used that functional independence to set up a rival power base to Blair.
  11. This. Anything that is fun and gets people enjoying spending time together and liking each other. Teams that like each other work better.
  12. Yes they should - its a title.
  13. Vicente looked a different class.
  14. The developed Norths position is that "we would do it but China needs to cap their emissions at a level we haven't been at since 1900. We 've got massively high emissions - but unless the developing world agree to not increase their to even a fraction of ours, we arent going to play".
  15. So are they sat together now?
  16. George Osbourne when grilled about the disappointing numbers and whether he was up to the job "I am 110% focussed on the economy". Aah, I think I can see where the problem might be.
  17. Burley. Neil McCann
  18. What do you care? You want to emigrate to Oregon!
  19. Crazy odds. I dont usually bet but Ive got £5 on a Saints win at 18-1 and £5 on a draw at 5-1 - so thats almost 12-1 against Saints getting any kind of a result. As you say, anything can happen in a two horse race
  20. In that case use the Brighton Goldstone defence to Brighton Council - we need to sell the ground to stave off bankruptcy (oops the money fell into my pocket instead of the club's)
  21. Councils cant just do what they want. Covenants mean next to nothing, they are routinely overturned by the courts. All Chainrai would have to do is to show that a lg1 club cant support a 21,000 capacity stadium and there was an acute local need for additional housing / supermarket / light industrial units.
  22. Whats with the patronising tone? People are allowed to have different assessments of the same facts you know. Imo the most likely option is some kind of deal to get the players off the books will happen, probably brokered by the FL using the PPs as a lever. Chanrai will then buy the club for a notional amount and proceed to sell the ground for development. With the Gaydamak land its a big site worth far more than the book value. The club will limp on with a crap squad and facing 10 years or more in the wilderness.
  23. I agree they probably wont be liquidated. I still think Fratton will be sold and they stand a good chance of being relegated to lg2 this season. They may well survive, but crippled.
  24. Heart says thats harsh. Head, not so much...
