Our Future? Stadium Expansion Proposal on Season Ticket DVD
buctootim replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you want to maximise revenue and minimise costs in the current season you keep capacity at 32,400 and pitch prices as high as you can whilst still selling out. If you have some kind of long term vision of turning Saints into a much bigger club you might subsidise additional attendances now (incentives for kids, people in outlying areas etc) in order to create a larger paying fan base later. Plans like that might not pay off for 20 years but they are doable. -
Part of the Manchester sprawl. I'd actually like to see a British league. Belfast could support a decent team too.

Thats a grass snake dog, they usually eat frogs and newts. Was the chicken swimming at the time?

Ive been to more games (and taken more people with me) since we've been in the Championship and Lg1 simply because tickets have been easier to get hold of. Factors like ease of availability, turn up and pay, being able to sit together etc definitely play a role in attendances - so to some extent more seats available when in the prem does equal higher attendance. . -

Very true. Its not just energy security either, its also about how do you guarantee continuity of supply of all kinds of natural resources which we depend on - everything from rare earths through copper to food staples such as wheat and rice . -
Quite. With an England player as his dad and his brother already lighting up the Saints academy you can be sure our scouts would have looked him over and over again just to make doubly sure.

Depends. Is she 17 years old and £600 too?

Alpine, you really are such a ****. Three people go to the effort of trying to genuinely explain things to you and you cant engage in any reasonable way. Its a waste of my time reading your posts. I wish I hadn't taken you off ignore. -
Dune has a point though Phil. Customer service in the UK from typical 'first jobs' (eg waitresses, hotel reception, shop assistants) is so so much better now than 10 years ago when you had to rely on disinterested thick Brits who left school with zero qualifications, interest or prospects.

Its complementary......typical Brit. You should get a Polish tutor.

That Southampton with a population of nearly three times that of Udine should average 16,625 x 3 = 49,875? -

Udine has a population of just 100,000 and Udinese's ground has a capacity of 41,000. -
That wasn't what I feared, thankfully.

Yes, Austria is much colder than the UK during the winter - making the case for doing something stronger. Its odd that when given some objective options you dismiss them out of hand. -

Up to 30% of your heat is lost through draughts in an old house. They are usually cheap and easy to fix. Forget about replacing the windows (unless they single paned). Draught proof your cellar door with some quality stick on rubber seal (£5), insulate the loft for less than £100 (DIY). If the cellar isnt heated then dont try to insulate it, instead insulate the floor of the rooms above it (or the ceiling of the cellar if thats easier). You will notice the difference immediately and get payback within two years (sometimes within one winter if existing insulation is poor). -

Regardless of your views on global warming most people could save money from insulating their house better. The measures with the best cost / benefit ratio are draught proofing doors and windows, insulating your loft to 240mm rockwool and cavity wall insulation. Things like replacing windows with higher specs are only worth doing if the windows need replacing anyway. I insulated my floor by putting 12mm of celotex under the laminate and it has made a huge difference to the feel of the house even if bills arent hugely affected. This calculator is quite good. It uses 5p per KW/h as a default for the calculations. In practice heating with mains gas is around 3.5p, oil c6.5p, propane 8p and electricity 11p. http://www.resurgence.org/education/heac.html This calculator helps you see the impact of different levels of insulation http://www.celotex.co.uk/Other-Resources/U-value-Calculator -

In that case you either have an already well insulated house, or your calculations are wrong. Whats the U value of your walls and windows? Do you have any draughts through the windows or doors? -

Absolutely not. The opposite in fact. People should be allowed to speculate and dream even without having a small chihuahua and his escort of attack sheep constantly sniping at them. People are entitled to post up their views and enthusiasm. As to attendance we probably agree - we might only sell out a 40,000 capacity stadium two or three times a season as things stand. -

tbh its a pretty false argument. I doubt anybody who isnt a teenager thinks we can sell out a 40,000 capacity ground whilst near the bottom of the EPL. The only real argument is about how high Saints can go and what happens then - and no-one knows the answers to that. In the EPL success is usually directly linked to money. Maybe ML commited his entire fortune to emulating Man City (highly unlikely)- in which case CL in five years would be probable. Or maybe we will be cut off at the knees after this season and will do well to stay up. It largely all comes down to cash available at the end of the day and neither you me or 99.9% of the people posting here know the answer to that - its all speculation and so no post desrves the tedious mocking of a few knobs on here - especially when many of them are simply posted up by excited young fans. -

Cant remember your own posts from this morning. Poor old boy. FYI post #183 at 9.59am "Without wishing to dredge up this age old argument (because its tedious in the extreme); I'm yet to encounter more than maybe 2 or 3 people who have said we should rule out the possibility of extending the stadium. The vast majority on here seem to agree that there is definite scope for an increase in capacity. The debate has always been into whether there is enough evidence already to justify extending right now (or whether we need to wait and see what our Premier League attendances are first), and then what the potential new capacity of an extended stadium should be". -

So out of 3,000 SWT members one person expresses a view like that and you are happy to claim that "the vast majority on here seem to agree that there is definite scope for an increase in capacity". Try reading what people write instead of putting your own gloss on it. Here's a starter for you. If Saints do well and tickets are cheap we could sell out 40,000. If Saints bump along the bottom and ticket prices are high we wont sell out SMS. Easy really isnt it? -
How long since Saints had an England Player and who was it?

Rodriguez is probably closest currently. -
As Ant says download VLC player from here. Should play fine on that. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

I wonder if Birch is also unaware he is supposed to pay back creditors. It would explain a lot.
