Hairy arse is right though. People worry more about whether they will get a taxi at Christmas, not how much it will cost. It is plain weird to reduce fares at Christmas and increase them to higher than they were in the New Year.

Ah okay Hammy, thanks. Didn't see that other part before it disappeared.

The evidence on one side is that AP was sacked at the worst possible time for the club, gives a hit tothe five year plan, the chairman has come out and said he had no choice, he has hinted at the reasons why in an interview, the allegations of over training players during close season are matched by several lingering injuries. The evidence on the other side is diddly squat and makes no sense without, as you allude to, constructing some Machiavellian plot to explain a conspiracy.

I thought it was publicly acknowledged fact that Pinnacle were the preferred bidder for a considerable period, and were also granted exclusivity for some weeks. Whilst it was interesting to read of NC's take on the impact of the Liebherr bid, it didnt fundamentally change anything we already knew.

That post is the very opposite of logical thought - instead its a great exposition of I believe what I feel regardless of evidence.

Chamberlain to Arsenal or Liverpool £10m

That means very little. Players develop and peak at different rates. Lee Holmes was wonder boy at 15. Ian Wright was playing non league at 22. -
Its a real shame Assange's tactics are so poor. Letting the world know about genuinely abhorrent behaviour - such as reckless killing of journalists and passers by by the US helicopter in Iraq, or corporate deception inflicted on the public is of major public importance. Notes about minor diplomatic *****ing isnt. Assange has nearly crippled Wikileaks by bringing down huge international governmental pressure on its head for relatively trivial issues. He would have been better off being more selective and going after the targets which really count.

Because people pay them to! The accuracy isn't that high but its better than chance, and thats worth having for many companies, councils and other organisations. If you read the long range forecasts closely they are couched in the language of probability - ie something is more likely than not, they are never written in the language of any degree of certainty.

Climate change data is drawn from real recorded happenings at thousands of locations across the globe. Its irrelevant whether one particular place is experiencing below average temperatures at any one moment. Scientists, given a group of 10,000 people can tell you with a very high degree of accuracy how many will take a dump between 3pm and 4pm next Friday. That isnt the same as being able to predict exactly when Maud Williams from number 43 will take a dump.

I'd guess most people recognise that having six billion people on one planet causes most of the environmental problems. Fish stocks, climate change, deforestation, species extinction - even food poverty wouldn't be such isssues with only 10% of that number on the planet. Easy to say but no easy answer unless you dont mind trampling on everybody's legitimate aspirations for children, good food and living space.

All kinds of organisations want long range forecasts, people like gas companies, electric utilities etc. Thats why the met office provide them. They are best estimates just as you may plan to get x number of eggs from Y number of chickens but random incidents like the fox make a big dent in your projections.

No agency in the world can predict with any confidence what the weather will be like in any location more than five days ahead as this article explains (sorry to post so many media links but its clearer and easier than typing it out). http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/nature/trillions-of-sums-but-we-cant-predict-a-white-christmas-2160624.html I dont know why the Met office even attempt long range forecasts because they are inevitably usually wrong and it makes people doubt their credibility on other issues, like climate change. Yes Western Europe is having a reasonably cold winter, but much of the southern hemisphere is having record high temperatures. http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-national/record-warm-spring-in-perth-20101201-18gax.html. Local weather will, at any particular moment in time, be different from local averages. What matters is long term trends across the globe. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/dec/14/hottest-year-environment-review-vidal

Ive been looking for the same kind of thing as you, but only paying £4-6,000. Lots of really nice, high spec, low mileage Peugeot 407s and Renault Lagunas for that kind of money.

The same side is playing better than last season imo, with one crucially important exception - RL. We have more shots on goal than any other bar one, and yet have scored fewer goals than almost any other team. RL not scoring is almost the sole reason for the team underpeforming this season. I see that as a major handicap for Adkins, you seem to see it as an Adkins failing. Thats the only real difference.

Thatcher is the greatest women the world has ever known
buctootim replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
This. I didnt like her, but the country was in such a ****ed, run down, uncompetitive position in 1979 we needed someone like her. She took a lot of very difficult and unpopular decisions which had been shied away from for too long by amiable, likeable, middle of the road consensus politicians -
