I don't think Academy restructuring has any impact on MP's situation at all. Different department.
-
I choose to believe the MP story, but not the Lallana transfer request one.

OMG, that's some scoop you've got there.

And he got his watch

Yep, and when he grows in to his body he will be a beast. And I am a very good judge. When I first saw Bale I predicted he would end up at centre back.
-
You're not a very good reader of body language are you? Winky thingy
-
And yet again, what a grounded, well spoken young man. It can't be a coincidence that we keep churning them out. Well done to him and all at the academy.
-
That "report" is worse than most of the guff on here by our resident body language and nuanced language experts. For starters, is MP likely to be influenced by reports in the press that we are selling the family silver, or assurances from board members that we will only sell players he sanctions to be sold??

Do tell us how you made your millions.............. -
Perhaps he was having a flame grilled chicken royale, or whatever they call it in Paris.

And the same could be said of Shaw. Give the kid time for Christ sake. They can't all look like world beaters from day one. Also, I suggest you take the time to look at his movement and the positions he gets in to. He'll do well IMO.

Tricky innit? What would they cost, and would they come to slug it out with AB for the No 1 spot? I think we'll keep AB as first choice and spend no more than £3-£5m on a back up. And that's assuming MP doesn't think that with another 12 months experience Gazza, or perhaps Cropper are not adequate cover. I wouldn't be surprised if we go in to next year with those three.

As you posted this a 12.57am I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were on the sauce - whether this is your real opinion or an attempt at a wind-up

I didn't read it as uncertainty about the current players, more as he doesn't yet know which knew players he will have. Is your glass half full or half empty?

Does anyone else hunk they way mp waved at the end was just a little bit ominous? -
So, Les Read and MP are very happy with the way things are. They meet every day and are planning for next season and beyond (one would have to assume that includes transfer targets). All our players are effectively saying that if MP stays, they stay. A source we know is close to AL says he's happy. Shaw says he's happy. MS says he's happy. SRL says he's happy. Where, exactly, is the crisis? Why are some people so keen to see our talent sold off that they're happy to give credence to every piece of sports journo tittle tattle? And, ultimately, so what if we do sell a player or two? Does the world stop??

The opinion I read ( I think it was a comment from Jason Dodd) was that technically Targett is very good, but Shaw's physical development put him ahead. Let's face it, Shaw is a beast. Targett is still, I'm sure, developing at a more normal pace physically.

Ralph Krueger - post-match comments in hospitality suite
Faz replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
Thanks. I might be accused of lapping up club PR, but there is a consistently positive message coming out of the club. I also like the fact that Ralph added weight to Les Reed's statement. -
I think you've missed the point, but I'll bite; if your point is "do I want to believe a Director of my football club who stands up in front of the media and make a clear unambiguous statement, against an unattributed piece in the sports section of a newspaper", then the answer is unequivocally yes. Do I think there MAY have been contact between Man U and Shaw's agent quoting possible wages, then maybe - I'm not a complete innocent. But when that piece goes on to state that they are close to agreeing a fee of £30m then, given the aforementioned statement, it calls in to question the integrity of the whole piece. IMO.
-
There is quite a bit of ground between a PR piece issued by the club, and an article in one of our leading newspapers stating that a deal was close to being agreed when there has been no contact. If that article had been on the front page of that newspaper, rather than the back, it would have been subject to more rigour I fancy. Bu it's only sports journalism so its ok to be sloppy.

Mods, can we try to keep this one on topic please? I can read tit for tat arguments about the relative merits of Luke Shaw on plenty of other threads. Ta.
