Not part of the core that came through from league 1. He was part of that strong spine last year without a doubt, although I never felt he was quite as strong when he came back from that injury.

That core of players, who were what you might call the first 11 last season, were Fonte, Morgan, Lallana and Sir Ricky. Two are still with us, one we were looking to replace last year, and one was dreaming of playing for Liverpool for over half the season. I guess my point is that the team has been evolving, although currently is feels more like revolving.

I like to think: 1. We've agreed deals for players who are involved in CL qualification and so the actual transfers won't happen until that position is clear, and 2. We've agreed deals for players who were involved in the latter stages of the WC and so are still on their holibobs. Perhaps all will become clear very soon.

Why would you assume that because this one might happen first, that we're not working on several others simultaneously?

Christ you're a miserable so and so. If he signs for the reputed £12m we will have replaced Shaw, Lambert and Lallana with what appear to be great quality players, and all for the price of Shaw. And there is clear intent to continue to invest in the likes of Virgil, Forster and perhaps others. I would not have opted to break up the team, but as it's happened, and looking at the quality of player we're after, I'm pretty sanguine about it.

I must admit I thought Clyne would go this season. His international chances were hampered by Chambers playing last year. If RK thinks Clyne suits his system better than Chambers, then so be it I guess.

I'll give £50 for it

This season, more so than last, it will be impossible to keep both Chambers and Clyne happy. One will go, and it looks like Calum.

I reckon we wanted **** Van Dijk and Forster to play the CL qualifier so those Scouse gits can't sign them from us this season. Or Celtic want to ensure they qualify before selling. Or it's all bullhooks
