  1. Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra. Ever Ever Banega... I wanna reach out and grab ya. The last bit needs some work, but what a lovely song that would be. He should sign for us because of it in fact.
  2. Mostly saga seeing as he looked the mutts when on loan. Thought we'd breeze the championship with him. Didn't show up once he got a contract... delgado, kanchelskis, boa morte, torpedo and some of the other youngsters who sounded amazing but never really materialised - mark peters? Perplyotkin? I can hardly remember them tbh.
  3. Torres?? Ill take all the salt in china to believe that. swap a champions league team gunning for the title with low lying saints and a pay cut. Had heard that we were after ronaldo - that's the Portuguese link sorted. sorry mate, that's just bonkers.
  4. Thanks, that's not what I asked though, was interested in a stats comparison... not that stats are the be all and end all as someone will no doubt point out. Weird that i have to caveat a post on a forum... hey ho. Anyway replacing a **** player with a better player generally means your team will be improved assuming they play the same position and can play for the country in question. Just my view. And it's right.
  5. Anyone got Morgan vs cleverly stats to hand? Against Montenegro tonight he (cleverly) is playing like a ballbag. And hart (who I still rate highly) just let the ball through his legs again a la rickie.

    1. Lolz 2. Rule #1 for his bird ffs, we're almost onto post 69 with nothing to show for it! 'This place isn't what it once was'
  7. Stalking isn't healthy. (Happy birthday SRL)
  8. Would agree with Blayney, Hughes bicycle kick, Stern John and the Saeijs (sp?) rocket. Those that have played for longer but I have one lasting memory of... Prutton for that push, Khalej for THAT tackle, CMFG for the run that made him CMFG, Riise for that own goal, Grobelaar for swinging and missing at a pass back when we played Coventry for my first Saints match... (swear he was match fixing) lucky it went wide, Dodds corner goal against Pompey (that I won £66-1 for... later to be given as an o.g.), Delaps overhead kick, Higginbotham in our relegation season did an amazing overhead kick vs Man Utd, keeper (Barthez I think) didn't know anything about it when he managed to push it over - could have done with a result that day, think Phillips scored a good goal too, Dean Richards for stamping on someone even though he was usually a fair player... Good memories!
  9. Lol! I bet he twitches like crazy on motd tonight... Unless he chooses not to face the cameras for once...
  10. Don't be ****ing absurd. Of course man walked on the moon... Everyone knows it (apart from the conspiracy theory nutcase in the lounge, forget his name)
  11. Thanks for attempting to educate us all... but you're just plain wrong. We've had a fair bit of snow thanks and we often do, just depends where in Devon you are. Places on Dartmoor for instance have been white all weekend. Stick to what you know rather than trying to be a smartass all the time. As for the game, looking forward to seeing both left backs on show. Baines is class and will be England's permanent left back before long, Shaw could well be his replacement in the future.
  12. Had a quick look through the match day thread. Some ridiculous comment in there, from the same people who have been completely wrong at half time in the past before... writing us off too soon. You'd think they'd learn, alas no. Regardless, cracking result. Should have done better clearing the goals really and would agree that Davis and Guly had poor games. Really impressed with everyone else. Special mention to Clyne and Shaw who not only kept Mata, Oscar and Hazard at bay (which is amazing in itself) but also setup the goals. Two England players in the making there. Rickie obviously a legend. Puncheon has made me realise that people can change, fair play to him, hope we can keep him. I'm inclined to think we would have lost had Rickie and Gaston been on from the start. Just think we changed our game plan with the subs (RL in particular) which confused Chelsea and let us back in it. Thankful that the Chelsea Torres turned up tonight too!!!
  13. ...could be a massive 3pts for qpr. Still hope Chelsea will come back to win. I knew things were going to go badly when on the vidiprinter it said that Michael Wilde had scored for the new saints. Ffs.
  14. Really good performance from the boys. Arsenal didn't deserve anything. Boruc... Not sold on him yet, looked a bit too casual sometimes for my liking and had a number of wayward kicks - handling not fantastic either! Really impressed with the defence though, the full backs were solid. Schneiderlin broke them up really well and Do Prado was so unlucky, put in a cracking shift covering for Shaw with a good shot and corners too. Very frustrating to have a goal disallowed. Taters suggested it was for the very slight push from Ramirez. I think the lino flagged him offside (wrongly). Oh well a point against Arsenal is fine by me. Hopefully we can put a few more chances away in the future. Would be nice to get Adam back.
  15. I did notice my contradiction... hence the !!! after the last sentence. I think it's good our players get recognised for playing well, the reports from last weekend were very positive for the whole team. I just don't think much of Garth Crooks, he is wrong so often (like getting players names wrong which is pretty basic) that it becomes frustrating.
  16. So a guy who has won the Premiership, the Champions League, La Liga (in his last season I think?) and the MLS cup (or whatever it is) would want to come to us or QPR to finish his career by potentially being relegated? Not exactly a storybook ending. I'd rather get a shed load of dosh from PSG myself, better shopping there than at West Quay too. To answer the question. Yes I'd have him at Saints maybe as a player/youth coach just for the name and for the reputation that he would bring. But it simply won't happen. It's about as likely as Michael Owen playing for Stoke or Emile Heskey being the top goalscorer for Newcastle... oh.
  17. Genuinely the worst pundit on the tele in my opinion. it's just embarrassing. Says a lot that the bbc no longer allow people to comment on his choice as team of the week - everyone just laid into him for picking players that had scored that week! (Fonte was in there when he scored 2). He somehow missed cazorla when he played a blinder and song too. All that said, nice that our guys down the right get some recognition!!!
  18. Thought I was the only one who spotted this - good work.
  19. Scared we'll lose but my head says it'll be a draw... Can't decide whether it will be 0-0 or 4-4 though.
  20. Again not sure about the substitutions... It was like Man Utd all over again. Puncheon was doing pretty well when on the ball and put in some decent challenges too. Ricky may have been knackered so not completely surprised by that one. Fox is a decent player when on the ball and put some decent balls into the box... But both of their goals came from crosses on his side. I think Lallana leaves him exposed so not just his fault, talking of which I hardly noticed Adam in the second half. I was watching on a poor stream so may have missed some bits but for me Jay put in a good shift, Schneiderlin was our best player, Gazza pretty good in goal, Puncheon good and I suppose Fonte deserves a mention too, goals and a few good challenges when covering for Jos. Yoshida not in his comfort zone so unfair to say he played poorly, not sure how much better Richardson would have done in any case. Jos was worrying though, think I prefer Fonte which goes against those saying we was the weak link from our first few matches. Really need to up our game anyway, Fulham were there for the taking.
  21. Don't like the amount of possession we are allowing them but they aren't very effective when they have it so I guess it isn't the end of the world. Spiderman really is a talent, forwards all doing pretty well, fox ok but the reset of defence a little shaky.
  22. Already regretting not putting some dosh on him for top scorer this season... Wasn't he 75-1 or something stupid at one point? I didn't learn from this mistake last year either (when he was 20-1 at the start of the season if memory serves)
  23. Agree with those saying this wouldn't work. Could cause a hell of a headache for the fixture list guy. Say we play man utd in January when they are trailing city in the league by 6pts, we get offered little incentive to win cos city are sitting pretty... Then in may villa play utd but city need villa to draw in order for them to be champions... And so offer villa shed loads to get a result. How is that fair to us? Just because the fixture list wasn't in our favour. Too much money in football anyway.
  24. In fairness, only hart (who hasn't really done much) and baines are playing alright. Agree that it's not a good game for Adam. Like beatts playing vs the Aussies was spoilt by the **** around him.

Yeah... I didn't realise three quarters of the world's population lived in Zambia - puts China to shame! (I guess they could still refer to a billion as a million and vice-versa - I think we did the same back in the day?) I confess I thought it was a normal Daily Mail article to start with... But the spelling was too good for that. Looking forward to seeing the guy have a run-out though, hopefully some end product as well as pace and muscle.
