  1. Get the open top bus warmed up
  2. @officialpompey: GOAL!!! #Pompey 1 (Jervis 48) Accrington 0
  3. @willcope: That was, without fear of contradiction, THE WORST 45 mins of professional football I have seen all season (& many a season) #pompey v #asfc
  4. @officialpompey: Attendance: 13,387 (61 Accrington fans) #Pompey
  5. @ASFCofficial: Drennan optimistically tries to replicate Marco van Basten but the ball ends up in row P of the away end.
  6. That's a tight old bottom half...(so to speak)...
  7. How did we get onto the JWP topic in the first place? Anyway, back to the match build up.... JWP to start...one goal and 2 assists... 3-2 to Saints
  8. Indeed.
  9. Or... Davis upped his game and became preferred starter which has dented JWP's confidence a bit
  10. And conversely, there's still time for him to recapture and grow that potential...
  11. Damn, you got me there....

  14. Football is all about opinions I guess... http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/feb/04/southampton-james-ward-prowse-england-world-cup
  15. Because Gallagher performed much better vs Arsenal than MP had perhaps anticipated....would be one plausible explanation.
  16. This summer is my understanding. (I believe it would have been last summer if the new sponsor discussions had concluded differently...)
  17. I've just checked back through the archives and I've worked out you'd be £47 better off.
  18. Yep... evolution vs revolution is probably the order of the day
  19. This is true. I guess the "getting to where we are now" part can be labelled "a means to an end"....i.e. in order to get to the position we are now (mid-table comfort) we've had to get some external investment (aka players) - a springboard might be a decent analogy. Now we're here we can start "the project" in earnest - or maybe "start phase 2" is a better way of putting it. It's a bit like going on Dragon's Den with a business idea....getting some initial investment....and then watch as the business becomes self-sustaining once the foundations have bedded in... You may well be right. Or you might be wrong. Will be interesting to watch to see what happens though, one way or t'other.
  20. The aim of "the project" is to achieve success via promotion from within, so the emphasis will always be on looking towards our development squad to fill gaps rather than making knee jerk purchases in the open market.
  21. Auntie Ethel once got told off by an expert on the Antiques Roadshow for polishing her silverware because it can actually cause damage and buyers prefer to do their own cleaning and restoration. This post was brought to you by the Slightly Obscure Analogy Society.
  22. He might have allowed himself to start thinking otherwise one third of the way into the season when we went to Arsenal with a chance of going top....
  23. The one I mentioned with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek....
  24. True to say that I'd be disappointed if that happened. Not quite sure I'd be ready to join the 'club in meltdown' brigade though, but give it time...
